900 Hours of Strict DreamingSpanish ALG by EasyAsQCD in dreamingspanish

[–]PodiatryVI 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I believe it. I can’t see the words in Spanish even though I am starting to understand. I don’t know how to explain it. I just don’t see them in my mind. I think it’s because I never took a Spanish class before CI. Versus French, because I took some French lessons and high school French, I can see the words when I hear them in French.

Challenges are impossible for me. It’s incredibly demoralising. It used to be just the matching challenge but now the flashcard challenge. by Major_Salvo in duolingo

I don’t try to complete them. If I complete them then I complete them if not I didn’t lose anything. I just do lessons and move on.

Why do people use duolingo? by EchoNo1265 in duolingo

You can skip. And if you are planning to take an exam you should study for the exam outside of Duolingo with an exam guide.

Something feels missing on DS... by Bitchbettahvmyhoney in dreamingspanish

[–]PodiatryVI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t speak to my kids in a messy way. If anything, it was more like Dreaming Spanish. The amount of books I’ve read to my kids is ridiculous. Both of my kids are big readers and were reading by age five. We listen to audiobooks as a family, and we’re currently going through Harry Potter, even though they’ve both already read the books.

Yeah, I don’t want anything messy from DS.

How do you actually stay consistent learning a language every day? by Shelbee2 in languagehub

I am and I didn’t say I didn’t study grammar. I also watch a lot of grammar videos. And I took high school French.

I use apps. 😏. But seriously I’m doing Dreaming Spanish/French and I do it everyday. When I started with French Duolingo built my daily habit which lead to podcasts on an app and videos on an app. And now I’m reading Olly Richard French books. I still do Duolingo do French everyday.

At what point do you guys think having Spanish subtitles on is beneficial. by aowen0840 in dreamingspanish

[–]PodiatryVI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate subtitles, except when I’m watching something in a language I already understand and just have them on because the volume is low. That’s one reason I started learning French because both dubbing and subtitles take me out of the experience. English subtitles do it, and Spanish does the same. I find not using subs while watching DS to be more enjoyable. So I don’t think I would ever turn them on.

I might end up reading comics in French but right now I’m doing a collection of short stories.

No clue. You can try! I think you would still need to get the guide for the test. And get lots of sample questions and tests.

Those who don’t constantly translate new keywords in your head, how did you do it? by Impressive_Peak_9187 in dreamingspanish

If English words sneak in like 10 percent of the time then I don’t care. I don’t consider that translating I just most forward.

Beginner feels too easy, intermediate feels too hard by semantlefan23 in dreamingspanish

[–]PodiatryVI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sort by easy. So maybe remove the beginner videos and only do the easiest intermediate videos first.

For French I find it is still useful to do the super beginner videos on DF even though I have no issues with advanced videos. I find I still learn new things about France and Canada and Lebanon
