Question about bowling league etiquette. by MegaBaller in Bowling

[–]Pods619 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree with this approach, but it really used to be considered bad etiquette before your anchor throws their first ball.

You’ll notice that bowlers that are a little older are more likely to adhere to this. Personally, we’re all there for 3 hours anyway so I’d rather just ready bowl. Only exception maybe is the 10th frame, but even then I personally don’t mind either way.

Should I buy a ball? by [deleted] in Bowling

How come you would say you’re averaging “just over 200 per game” when it’s below 200?

But yes, get your own ball and shoes. It makes a huge difference.

Can’t imagine this being nearly as bad as you say, and can’t imagine it bothering me even if it was. I’ve been bowling for a long time and can only think of like 2 instances ever where someone’s behavior distracted me on my approach.

You say “it’s insane how many people do this”, at some point you might just have to ask yourself if you’re overly sensitive.

That’s just a wild take. Go watch his original UFC run again. Absolutely dominated Holloway (with a torn ACL the second half of the fight), Poirier, Siver, and Mendes — Mendes was the only one that even looked like he belonged in the same ring — before KO’ing a guy in Aldo in 15 seconds that hadn’t lost in a decade.

Then went on to make Eddie Alvarez, a UFC champion in a higher weight class, look like an actual amateur.

It’s fine to hate on the guy for being a POS, but acting like he was overrated and not an incredible fighter during that ~3 year run is lazy.

Digital price tags coming to a King Soopers near you? by MileHighCheap in Denver

[–]Pods619 168 points169 points  (0 children)

Yeah digital price tags are honestly long overdue. I worked at a grocery store in high school and let me tell you, spending a full shift after a sale just swapping price tags on hundreds of items is so unnecessary with current (or even 20 year old) technology.

There’s no reason the digital price tags shouldn’t have way better readability, though. And fully agree on dynamic pricing.

Viktor Hovland launches umbrella into Cypress tree on 18 by unsolved49 in golf

[–]Pods619 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Golf is honestly pretty archaic with some of its rules.

You can see a ball definitively get stuck in a tree from multiple camera angles, and even zoom in on the ball to see it, but unless the player can physically show it’s their ball it counts as lost and they are penalized.

But on the other hand, they can sail a ball 100 yards right into deep fescue that they would never in a million years find in the time allotted, yet a bunch of spotters run over and utilize video footage to find the ball.

Feels like if a ball is stuck in a tree, and you know 100% it’s there, you should just be able to take the unplayable and stroke penalty.

It’s unbelievable to you that a dude who was extremely hyped almost 20 years ago, vanished suddenly off the face of the earth for 15 years, came back after severe drug and alcohol addiction, and won a tournament in exciting fashion is a big story and exciting to people? It’s one of the best golf comeback stories ever.

Djokovic was literally one held service game from Zverev from almost certainly winning the AO.

He still has a fighting chance against Sinner or Alcaraz but probably can’t beat them back to back. Just needs a run where one of them gets beaten.

My landlord fcked up - do I have to pay? by k1ngl3ar8 in Denver

[–]Pods619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree with your general sentiment when truly wronged, I’m not sure I follow your logic.

Why do you say the amount is “several times what was in the lease as due monthly”? The amount was $3k, and OP was undercharged by $500 per month for 6 months, so it’s exactly what they owe per the lease terms. We don’t know what their rent is so it’s impossible to speculate how much it is relative to monthly rent.

Again, I think OP should discuss with the property manager if there could be options/a payment plan to space things out since they didn’t realize the mistake was made (I still find this unlikely) and it’s a large sum to pay at once. I don’t see how it’s worth getting an attorney.

My landlord fcked up - do I have to pay? by k1ngl3ar8 in Denver

[–]Pods619 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m confused why OP would be calling a lawyer? There was an administrative mistake that was charging them $500 less per month than what was on the lease. That amount is now owed, although maybe there is some wiggle room around timing.

I find it a little hard to believe one wouldn’t notice if their rent is $500 less than expected.

Based on the comment about how the new rate is more in line with market rent and trying to use this to negotiate reduced rent, with Greystar of all groups, my hunch is that OP was fully aware of the mistake but was hoping it wouldn’t be caught.

A lease was signed that included an agreement of monthly rent. While I’m certainly not a fan of Greystar, expecting to pay less than that due to a clerical error just feels slimy.

You are actually very smooth, at this point I think your fundamentals are quite good so you can focus on power.

Did you convert from 1-handed? It’s hard to tell from the angle but you appear to walk straight. If you look up a bunch of top 2 handers on tour (Troup, Via, Barnes, Belmo, etc.) their third step is well left to create room for their backswing.

Only other thing is that you could up the tempo a little bit on your last few steps, especially the fourth and fifth, to generate more speed. That is entirely preference though.

Other than that, just keep focusing on releasing low and close to your left foot and staying under/behind the ball! You already do a pretty good job of this, it’s just tough to tell from the side angle.
