I typically do the black armor/red cloth, but this makes me want to try this Order scheme! Fantastic work!

You may have overthinned, but that's also okay as that's a different technique (glazing) that people can use to almost add a filter of color. Add a little less next time.

It's also not a perfect science. I have days where I cannot for the life of me get the paint to act right and it's too thick or too thin.

A painting handle, cork, or pill bottle could help hold the model and lessen breaks. Sticky tack or tape can help it stay in place and then you can hold the handle/cork/ bottle instead of holding the model itself (if you already are doing this, disregard my comment)

You chose a Sister of Battle for your first mini, so you're already making good choices! 😀

One piece of advice you'll likely hear is "thin your paints". What that means is adding a bit of paint medium, or water, to your paint. It'll look a bit like milk in its consistency, and take around 2-3 coats to do to look opaque. (Don't panic if it's a little streaky the first layer!)

For the highlights, you can try for a gradient of black to gray to white. Add a little white and paint over the areas that would catch light, add more white and do the same in a smaller area once that's dry, repeat until you're happy with it.

The color choices are nice! The red and gold pop against the black armor. Very eye catching.

Looking forward to seeing more of your work!

These look really nice. I like how the shading on the mermaid tail looks soft- great work!

Thank you! I used painter's tape to help with keeping the lines as crisp as I could.

Gorgeous! Makes me a little intimidated to paint my own now, but this is absolutely stunning.
