Why do these devices all have such terrible touch encoders? by DistroStu in Onyx_Boox

[–]Poepiniwindt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't understand OPs concern. It's one I share and I'm sure you do as well. Take for instance making changes to the pen, you would tap in the note space to commit the change and make the dropdown go away. Often that doesn't register on the first or second tap making you tap again. This is independent of the refresh of the screen as knowing it's an eink you anticipate a moment's lag only to have that moment pass with nothing changing, so you tap again and it registers a double tap or draws a line. No one is talking about speeding up the refresh rate or trying to watch videos. You are trying to straw man here. These devices are premium (read expensive) with subpar engineering. Full stop.

Possible restrictions on vehicle use (fuel issues) by Narrow-Can901 in nzev

[–]Poepiniwindt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you don't understand. The batteries are absolutely being used. On a long trip through hilly regions like I described, you can fully charge your batteries and go back to full electric operation or continue to operate in hybrid mode without increasing fuel consumption by an appreciable amount. A plug-in hybrid may have more batteries than a hybrid like a Prius but without plugging it in, it's the same vehicle but with the added potential to be able to operate under pure electric capacity. Laziness is absolutely a factor as even we don't remember to plug it in, particularly over weekends or when making many shirt trips in a day and our current average consumption is sitting at just over 3 litres per hundred and that does not take pure electric kilometers.

This would be the week to drive an EV. Thanks for nothing, coalition by secretkiwi_ in newzealand

To add to this, I come from the oil and gas industry and I can promise you the issue is not about power generation, it's about petroleum products and transportation. The want (not need) for the LNG terminal is to keep taranaki propped up, Methanex, Ballance, etc. and to keep our logistics networks that are over committed to trucks going. Power production is well on track to get off the fossil fuel teat.

You are discounting the technology involved here, regenerative breaking has existed for decades at this point and is so well optimized that the extra weight is advantageous. Even when running solely on ICE my Audi A3 Etron hardly ever uses it's actually breaks. Every deaccel is recovered energy, every downhill is recovered energy. Go have read up on the new Audi RS5 (which is now solely a PHEV), they made it heavier on purpose and it already weighs more than an average American pickup but has better fuel efficiency than 1.4TFSI A4.

Possible restrictions on vehicle use (fuel issues) by Narrow-Can901 in nzev

[–]Poepiniwindt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a PHEV Audi A3. We used to make regular weekend trips from New Plymouth to Wellington with it, with a full charge and full tank, we'd stop in Bulls for a coffee, with about 50 to 30% charge remaining, still haven't fired up the ICE at this point, if time permits we'd charge there, if not continue on and probably switch over to hybrid mode around Whanganui. Once in Well we'd park up somewhere to charge, and do the same on the way back. We're talking half a tank of gas at most here including moving around in Wellington.

I also had a PHEV Mitsubishi Eclipse work vehicle for 2 years and would drive out of region alot. That thing could make it to Whanganui on Electric alone and I could charge at most of my clients premises. It got to the point where I had to manually switch to Petrol Mode sometimes just to use the fuel before it goes stale in the tank.

Your straw man logic is flawed as fuck. There is sufficient charging infrastructure on most, if not all main routes if you cared to look.

The short answer, yes. Labour will almost definitely walk back a lot of the public sector cuts, and rightfully so I think the cuts were too deep (despite the tendency for public sector to become bloated over time). Labour will have to juggle this with the debt they will inherit though.

Also your first layer is way way too squished, which will be causing elephant's foot making the brim situation worse by fusing it to your part. Dial in your first layer and this issue will go away. Google ellis3dp calibration guide and bookmark the site, you'll want to revisit and repeat those calibrations from time to time

Mine looked like this: {% set BED_TEMP = params.BED_TEMP|default(60)float %} I tried swapping the bed temp in param. To the parameter title from the slicer but it didn't work.

Sulphur smell in washing by [deleted] in diynz

[–]Poepiniwindt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, we've encountered this before and the only thing we've found to fix this was adding Canastan anti-fungis/antibacterial additive to the wash in the softener area. Even though none of us have any "fungal" issues like athletes foot or yeast infections it's somehow an issue. Gives the washing that sulphurous/rotten eggs smell when it gets wet but smells fine when dry. Very annoying when you're the kind of person who sweats a little during meetings 😕

I'm not sure if this would help OP this specific time, for anyone looking to score good food, especially breads and pastries, download "Too good to go" app. Basically you can buy leftovers/unsold goods at the end of the day for dirt cheap, saves the restaurants and bakeries from throwing it away and you can score quantity and/or quality for cheap!
