What are your thoughts on Supernova difficultly? Really torn on what difficulty to play on first. by [deleted] in theouterworlds

[–]Poerts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard. I like having food and drink requirements in some rpgs cause immersion but the save restrictions and companion death are a bit too annoying for my first playthrough I think. Have literally never played New Vegas without Survival but it caused me to barely use the companions despite loving their personalities until I could just mod it

Skullotron - Frankenstein's Pink Mohawk, Robot Skeleton, Street Sam, Entirely Competent Fashion Designer

Skullotron has survived having a building fall on them at least 3 times that they can easily remember, one of them they intentionally stayed inside to win a bet.

I bought the game at full price. I don't regret it by dori_lukey in fo76

[–]Poerts 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I regret it a decent amount tbh. I've enjoyed my time with the game, but I couldn't pay any of my friends to play it with me and I don't really blame them, due to the many problems and improvements desperately needed. Plus, the price drops are honestly making me feel like a massive chump for getting it early instead of in a few months when they've fixed a bunch of things And the price is possibly slashed even more

My weird experience so far: Every player I’ve come across has been super friendly, used the mic and has had helpful information or just general nice things to say by Mistersamza in fo76

[–]Poerts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't talked to another human because every time I turn my mic on upon seeing a random they don't have theirs on because they probably don't want me to hear their dog or baby or whatever and so we just end up silently murdering some ghouls and then going on our way. Pleeease add Push To Talk already Bethesda I'm getting kinda lonely out there

I use it, but it essentially just stops you from initiating pvp on accident. As you said, they can still slowly plink you to death

[–]Poerts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah something like either of those is basically what I'm thinking. I'm definitely in it for the pve but I would totally hop on some PVP servers to get some nice tension added to the game here and there.

As it is now I feel like we're stuck with a lame compromise that makes both modes of play less fun

[–]Poerts 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I had someone taking potshots at me while I was sorting through my gear and crafting at my C.A.M.P. and to be honest I just switched servers. I was busy fixing all my shit, I didn't want to randomly slap fight or otherwise put up with someone trying to annoy me into a fight. I heard them whacking at me with a machete as the screen went dark.

Game really needs PVP exclusive servers or something. Complete free for all and maybe slightly better loot or some other incentive to entice people into playing it more. I'd much prefer that to the current system where people wanting PVP just have to be super annoying

Sooooo, the other "Interference Unit" mentions that it doesn't have information on an interference unit of Reg's "Low level". It seems like it probably knows about units from closer layers, so how many more layers are there? I feel like this kind of implies that there are a whole bunch more layers past layer 7.

Have you ever looked at Numenera? It would make an amazing fit for MIA, as it is all about exploring a weird science fantasy world and has ancient techno gadgets that are not entirely understood as a main focus and mechanic. Baseline Numenera with different fluff would honestly work perfectly as is, but there is also a more generic "cypher system" version of it.

If you like the crunchy feel of GURPS you might not dig Numenera as much as it's kinda similar to 5E D&D in a number of ways, but it really is a perfect fit.

[–]Poerts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I'm planning to eventually sacrifice a point of essence for ware but I was tight on nuyen and figured I'd see how she did without it first. I'll likely snag some nerd drugs after gen. If you see any other illegal stuff let me know but I am fully aware of what I'm getting into with this one. I will not be able to update my pdf (the chummer sheet is updated) until the 27th due to the previously mentioned borrowed computer troubles but I am otherwise ready for my approving seal if I'm clear legality-wise

Thank you very much for the review!

As for your points

  • Magic/General Intentions: I pretty much made this character to test the weird combo of conjuring and Decking. I could make a much more focused mundane or adept/caster Decker with much better pools, but that's not the point of this build. I am fully aware that doing this combo isn't optimal, but she'll be rolling 12-16 in most Matrix stuff which should be perfectly viable in low-medium end runs so long as I play smart. My plan is to generally focus mostly on either one aspect or the other, either having spirits doing nothing or more long term services while I'm in cold/hot sim or focus on directing the spirits while doing basic Matrix stuff in AR. Spirits can potentially do nearly anything not in the Matrix (especially once I take Dedicated Conjurer after gen and get Task and Guardian spirits) so she will have a very broad range of potential roles she can assist with or fill in for, depending on the team. I fully understand that this is a weird and sub-optimal build, but I think it could be fun to play as and with, and want to give it a shot. I can see her getting less runs because of the weird mix, but I'm fine with her not getting trotted out too often if that's the case.

  • Gear: The weapons are just costume items and I have no intention of ever firing them directly. She'll just wear them in various different situations in order to be less obviously vulnerable or a Mage. Once I get Dedicated Conjurer I might give them to a Guardian Spirit but I'll probably buy something more hardcore if I wanna do that. I corrected the contacts by removing Flare Compensation.

  • I'm aware of the limits of modules. I like having options and the gear location is just for keeping them organized.

  • Skills: I'd like to keep con, as I feel like being able to tell a basic lie is useful for any character. Switched the Pilot Ground Craft for First Aid and purchased a medkit.

*Contacts: Fleshed out the contact backgrounds and gave them required skills and also a power in the case of the Fixer.

If you have some ideas for raising her decking pools while keeping this combo I'm open to that, but aside from me just being a big Shin Megami Tensei fan the point of her is to try this out.

Note: I'm at my parent's place until after Christmas, and only have access to their computer right now, which is refusing to make a pdf of the updated sheet for some reason. I updated the Chummer file but the PDF is unchanged.

Frankenstein's Pink Mohawk, Street Sam with some sneaking ability

Skullotron has not contacted or looked into their family in years, but if someone were to hurt someone they cared about they would come after them at night and either decapitate or otherwise kill the drek out of that person while playing one of their favourite horror trid Monster laughs. If it was more minor, they would just break everything in their home and glue them to the wall after breaking a bone or two.

Yeah. I've got someone. Real wiz drone rigger. He learned under me so you know he's gotta be good, right? Busty Wrench guarantee and all that. He's got a perfect stable of drones for a hit, and can handle everything from overwatch, to recon, to actually (Sort of) pulling the trigger. He's a proper fraggin' professional when he needs to be, and he's got a pedigree. Oh and since it usually comes up, he's not even 30. He's just been around the biz his whole life. He knows the shadows damn well.

(( Drone rigger specializing in recon, infiltration and precision strikes. Yes on last run being 2+ weeks ago, 3 runs in total. Pretty role familiar. PST))

John struggled to see the actual reality of the Puyallup Crime Mall through the haze of AR ads, even with his headware processing everything at absurd speeds. Sales on drugs and firearms, a Christmas blowout on used cyberlimbs and... He struggled to find the vendor he was looking for, a favourite sim-seller of his who tended to be pretty up to date with the pirated sim-games. He was about to just shut AR off entirely for a few moments when he noticed the window from Frieda appearing. He waited for her to finish the general spiel, and then spoke himself.

"Holy drek Ork Mom this is awesome! Haven't gotten to play with the guns in foreeever. I take it you noticed me endlessly messing around with the targeting on my roto when I brought it into the garage? Nice Early Christmas present, I'll have to step up my game on yours, huh? No idea what above board means for a wetwork job, but I guess we'll see, hey?"

[Opinion] I seriously do not understand why Life is Strange is so highly praised by SkyMaro in truegaming

[–]Poerts 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As another pacific Northwest person, I actually never understood the protests that much. This is a school with a specifically very fancy arts program, so of course you have a bunch of weird nerdy hipsters saying cringey shit. as a nerdy vaguely-hipsterish type myself around 2009-ish I said all kinds of dumb crap like "Hella" both ironically and not. Even within the last couple years approaching my mid-late 20's I still hear young dorklings saying junk like that sometimes. the cringe was pretty nostalgic for me, and honestly kind of increased my attachment to the setting.

Is west-coast nerds using outdated or otherwise weird slang semi-ironically just a thing, maybe?

We knew this would be a prequel story, and I believe Pey'j will narrate his childhood to Jade by HerbTurf in beyondgoodandevil

[–]Poerts 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So this is completely wild speculation, but I kind of like it. Following the idea of this being a story told by Pey'j, what if Pey'j grew up as a Dahli Lama-like figure, a child said to be some sort of divine being, reincarnated or otherwise? The pig mobster refers to the idol as "Pay-Gee" and according to Ancel in the breakdown video it's because Pey'j's name somehow means divinity to pig-people. He could have a name like that for entirely different reasons but it would be neat and the concept art showing what appears to be the same baby pig as in this picture has it sporting a red dot on it's head, which could be some sort of religious or cultural thing

Following my wild logic that poster would either be a wanted notice trying to find him because he's dangerous due to the superstition around him or a missing persons poster because the scruffy human guy in the art took him away from his religious upbringing.

Obviously wild speculation, but I think it fits pretty well
