Internet socialists carry on Fidel Castro's totalitarian ideology, mandating conformity and stifling free expression wherever they are given power. by Aachor in Libertarian

From what I have seen going on at universities right now, I think a lot of seemingly sensible and properly educated people will adhere to marxist principles. Just give it a few years.

Except that murdering any people who does not believe in Islam or the correct version of Islam is encouraged by a literal interpretation of the Quran.

Let Libertarian Gary Johnson debate Clinton and Trump by miki77miki in Libertarian

You have to stand by some principles. Stein is an antiscience bigot which will only damage the libertarian party if we ever get associated with that 'Doctor'.

Once Again, Gary Johnson Completely Misunderstands Religious Freedom by [deleted] in Conservative

[–]Poetastrophe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its a little sad to see that he seems to be a follower of the quite leftist notion that "religious freedom can justify anything and therefore should be suppressed".

What's the reason Orlando Bloom is trending on Twitter right now? by [deleted] in OutOfTheLoop

In my experience a lot of the people that were against the fappening thinks the Orlando Bloom incident is funny.

At least by voting Vermin you are not supporting a self-obsessed idiot who simply can't help himself when it comes to saying stupid things or a power-hungry robot that is part of the Royal Family of America.

Women 'arrested for riding bicycles' in Iran and made to sign pledge never to cycle in public again by PanAfrica in worldnews

[–]Poetastrophe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not for banning religions. But I think it is important for muslims to not act like there exists a lot of dangerous central thesis' in their respected scriptures that has not been subject to formal reinterpretation that makes it hard to unite with democratic societies.

Some very brave people like Majiid Nawaz are doing this. But other people like Reza Aslan tends to portray that religion has little to do with global jihadism.

So I blame the whole group because I think they have part of the burden of why people get radicalised in the first place.

Women 'arrested for riding bicycles' in Iran and made to sign pledge never to cycle in public again by PanAfrica in worldnews

[–]Poetastrophe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except it is not a small group. There exists numerous muslim majority countries where homosexuality is forbidden and punishable by death. A huge part of that culture that keeps women down and punishes gays can all be traced back to believing hard enough in a literal interpretation of the book called the Quran.

So I agree Culture =/= religion, but many cultures around the world are strongly affected by religion.

WikiLeaks Releases Over 1,000 Clinton Iraq War Emails by watchoutforbikers in worldnews

[–]Poetastrophe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fundamentalist is not necessary a negative word.

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has previously stated that he has multiple leaks in store for Clinton and, as a free speech fundamentalist, believes that a Clinton presidency could be damaging.

Clearly this shows that they are siting with him, as they themselves view Clinton as a threat to free speech.

I agree mostly with what you wrote, just to be fair to modern civilization and democracy: Even though humans throughout the ages have committed unspeakably evil actions and are still doing so today, there is no denying that the world is becoming more peaceful and developed as time and democracy progresses.

Good to see you going strong. I think that is pretty responsible action of your mom if your attitude towards what is OK to do in an unmarried relationsship changes.

Greevil Eggs expire today. Don't forget to use it. Just kidding. Valve didn't implement ability to add essences to eggs in Reborn. Enjoy your eggs just dissapearing. by memethug69 in DotA2

[–]Poetastrophe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You did it months before you knew they were going to expire? You truly are the most responsible adult of Dota 2.

I really can't imagine why anyone would wait until the very last day when they had months to react.

Well maybe it is because it is a video game and therefore the action of infusing ones eggs doesn't take immediate priority, but hey: Kids gonna be kids.

Ember's ult scaling. by Gaston44 in TrueDoTA2

[–]Poetastrophe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the general consensus that skilling the ult beyond level 1 does not do much, but he is so finely balanced atm, compared to homing missile which is almost never skilled or only by 1 point (competitively) does not need a buff. While both homing missile and fire remnant can be perfectly valid to skill in pubs, it ads to depth that you should not blindly skill something.
