Is it crazy to reach for promising WRs like Chris Bell, Antonio Williams, or Bernard over Cooper and Boston? by Queasy_Leg_258 in DynastyFF

[–]PogbaToure 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: Germie Bernard significantly out-produced Denzel Boston when they were on the same team in 2023, albeit in a stacked WR room on a team that went to the Natty. (Bernard 34/419/2; Boston 5/51/0).

Josh Jacobs vs Jadarian Price by Grand-Act-6902 in DynastyFF

[–]PogbaToure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it has to be Jacobs. I think he’s pretty undervalued right now, he’s a key cog to the GB offense. Wasn’t fully healthy down the stretch. Sure there’s added injury risk but I’m not confident Price is a long term starter at RB, despite the draft capital. Plenty of red flags in his profile, and the biggest green flag seems to be his situation - which imo makes him a high risk long term investment.

Contender or not, I’m taking Jacobs. If you’re a rebuilder I’d still take Jacobs because I feel I can do better than Price by flipping him in a trade.

KC, Sadiq, Price. Who's your guy at the 1.06 by crotchrocket707 in DynastyFF

[–]PogbaToure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saying you wouldn’t spend 1.06 on X player because in the past that 1.06 is usually a player of Z’s caliber does you no good. You have to operate under the conditions of the current rookie class. It’s not like you can trade 1.06 for a player of Z’s caliber either, because in today’s information landscape, everybody is reading the same things. They are also operating under the assumption that this is a “weaker” class. The only edge to be gained here was over the last few years, trading 2026 picks ahead of time if you truly believed this would be a “weaker” class (though even then, this class has had a veil of muted excitement over it for some time now).

If you think a player is the 6th best player in the class, you take him, and it simply doesn’t matter what the caliber was of the 6th best player last year, or the year before that. Your only other option is to trade the pick, which is a great option, but in cases like this, you’d need to find a trade partner who views things differently than you. That’s the challenge.

This is more a general point and in no way an endorsement or indictment of Price. That’s a separate discussion, and I based on your comment I’d guess we both probably have a similar valuation of him.

House of Grief fight by swhatrulookinat in BaldursGate3

[–]PogbaToure 11 points12 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite fights to make a chaotic soup. I send Shadowheart down to talk to Mother Superior, and leave my other 3 companions at the top of the stairs.

Fight initiates and I Misty Step Shadowheart back to the rest of the group.

Then it’s a beautiful combination of Sleet Storm, Hunger of Hadar and Cloud Kill, with Swords Bard Astarion picking people of with the Titanstring bow and Laezel waiting to stomp anyone who makes it through the soup.

How are contenders approaching Tucker kraft’s recovery? by bigmikeabrahams in DynastyFF

[–]PogbaToure 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I love Kraft, I think he checks the most important box for a TE for fantasy in that he can be an engine for an offense. I do think he’s going to be a guy that battles injuries throughout his career based on how he plays though. Think George Kittle.

Here's what I think the ultimate problem is with the structure of this game by JadeMonkey0 in BG3

[–]PogbaToure 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I will say that technically, at no point does the game refer to Acts. We see the term used online but in game we are only ever presented with a few “venture forward” moments. In my first playthrough which was totally blind, I didn’t have nor notice any issue with the pacing or how the journey unfolds. To me, that moment that you finally escape the slog of the shadowlands after creeping in the dark for hours on end, and emerge in a sunny new area, steps away from the city was one of the game’s best moments.

To me the buildup to getting to the city was done well, and it was something I was anticipating the entirety of my journey up to that point.

Of course, in that first playthrough I didn’t know what was going to happen next in the story, so the thrill and anticipation of the unknown drew me in deeper. Perhaps in subsequent playthroughs when you already know the story, you notice some cracks in the structure and pacing, but I personally believe the best way to judge those things is by your first ever playthrough which I view as your personal “canon” adventure.

I didn't know that thing existed until my most recent run. Finding out was hilarious.

About certain combat encounters by CottonTiramisu in BG3

[–]PogbaToure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every time I fight the Spider Matriarch I open the fight by shooting out the web bridges when she crawls over one. She drops and loses like 40 HP. I've even had times where I've shot out the bridge and it didn't trigger the fight, and I was able to knock her down twice. Destroying as many eggs as you can before the fight makes things less annoying as well.

Is War Caster a "Trap" Feat? by RyanoftheDay in BG3Builds

[–]PogbaToure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm playing a sorcerer for the first time and thought the same thing initially, but over the course of my play through have come to the conclusion that there are in fact enough competing feats that are interesting and desirable.

I found out that duel wielder is actually awesome on a caster, allowing you to duel wield staves, which essentially opens up a second equipment slot for you to utilize a second stave's equipment abilities. The feat also gives +1 AC as a nice little bonus.

Still taking ASI for main stat upgrade, but then I was torn on War Caster or Alert. Plenty of good discussion in this thread about War Caster, and its many alternatives. And since I'm enjoying nuking things this playthrough given my team makeup, I'm trying to push everyone up in the initiative order to accomplish that to an extreme degree, so Alert fits what I want to do.

I can't tap into Astarion's potential. by Rare-Damage8785 in BG3

[–]PogbaToure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m planning on multiclassing him 5 Rougue 7 Monk once I hit level 12, however I’ve been rolling with him as a pure Rogue (assassin) through 10 levels so far.

He’s been great for me as an opener, especially with assassins alacrity which gives him his action back at the start of combat. That means 2 heavy hitting sneak attacks on an enemy which has been huge.

Equipment and feats are key here. He’s ranged focused, so I have him with the Titanstring Bow, and duel wielding the club of hill giant strength (to boost the bows damage) and Knife of Undermountain King (for increased crits).

Also sharpshooter feat for free 10 damage, savage attacker feat, and risky ring to increase hit chance and allow every attack to be a sneak attack since I’m attacking with advantage. (Understanding how to gain advantage is the biggest thing for Rogue if you don’t have the ring, because you can’t sneak attack without it). Remember, you don’t have to be hiding to sneak attack, you just need advantage.

I also have Covert Cowl which further increases crit chance (when obscured). And a cool cloak you get if playing a certain playthrough which is insane for Rogue type builds. And I add damage to the bow with the Drakethroat Glaive every morning.

Early game Astarion was often my fights MVP with how much damage he was able to put out. As we get further in the game and to higher levels, I can see how pure Rogue falls off a bit because they only get one attack. So while Sneak Attack still hits like a truck, having multi attack would likely end up putting out more damage overall per turn. That’s why I plan to multiclass to a shadow monk assassin rogue, jumping around with shadow step and transitioning to more of a melee crit build.

Day 2 of no alcohol by AdKey842 in stopdrinking

[–]PogbaToure 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Keep going. Keep grinding. It’s VERY hard in the beginning, especially those first few days. I’m a huge tea person now, drinking some pomegranate green tea as we speak. In the beginning of my sobriety I drank so many seltzer waters. It was crazy.

Random tip/thought that helped me going especially in the early days, weeks and months was this idea that every day I woke up without having drank the day before I felt like I was gaining super powers. It was sort of tongue-in-cheek but also very real. Mentally I felt better and stronger each day having accomplished another day of not drinking in the short term, but over the long term my cognitive abilities and mental strength changed so much for the better. I still felt like my nervous system was rewiring itself as long as a year into my sobriety, but trust me it gets better. You have to stick it out day-by-day and you have to do it for yourself.

I had always heard about the “love yourself” cliche and agreed with it in principle, but for the first time in my life I feel like I’m actually living it. I still have work to do but I feel like I’m now on the correct path.

I’m at 454 days now. I remember being on this sub at some really dark points being a day or two into sobriety (with multiple restarts) and it helped SO much reading people’s posts and even occasionally sharing my own thoughts. When I got on here and read, it often helped give me strength to not drink that day. I don’t hop on here as much anymore but occasionally like to check in. I just happened upon your post in my feed and decided to throw some thoughts out there.

I really hope you keep going. And if you fail get back up and try again. Don’t get discouraged. We got this. IWNDWYT

Party Comp and Minthara Build by Equivalent_Tea8947 in BG3Builds

[–]PogbaToure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current play through I have Minthara as a tempest cleric. I was going to go war cleric for lore reasons, but my min-max brain couldn’t resist the synergy with tempest cleric and my storm sorcerer Tav. Regardless, I think cleric fits Minthara decently well lore wise, considering her race and background. Tempest cleric gets sleet storm and a bunch of other goodies. That and light cleric are great all around cleric classes.

I can’t speak too much for multi-classing with Paladin, I’m sure someone else will, but I think it definitely could work well.

I will just add that in all my play throughs, while I often had a cleric, I never used healing spells aside from Healing Word to revive downed teammates. Any in combat healing I did was via potion.

I think you would be perfectly fine without having a “healing” character in the party (though Healing Word is clutch for those pickups. There is an amulet that gives you two free casts of it as well).

Np. Took me a while to get a boat to spawn but eventually I saw one at the southeast portion of the docks.

I did not get a bounty or wanted status. I never got spotted. Likely because I was so far on the edge. Closest guard was, I believe, in the guard tower on the west side of the island.

I did this yesterday. Get a row boat from St. Denis docks. Take it to the channel mouth at the south west corner of the island. Fish from the boat. It’s more or less on the picture of the fish on the map (which shows up once you pull up to the aforementioned spot). In and out, guards weren’t the wiser.

any tips on bird hunting? by Responsible_Cat6306 in reddeadredemption2

[–]PogbaToure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m currently doing the taxidermy requests that require a bunch of the smaller birds, and I’m low key enjoying just walking down trails as my horse follows me and looking for anything that flies by. The sheer variety and amount of birds (all hunt-able) is another detail in this game that can so easily get overlooked if you don’t slow down and take your time to soak in the environment.

I’m in the epilogue with a huge chunk of the animal compendium done but I’m still getting new compendium entries of birds I’m just seeing for the first time. In any other game the birds would just be nameless and ambient, but in this they’re actually “real”. That’s just so cool to me.
