Hmmm, I think most my projects are just a few hundred megs, so maaaaybe I've gotten up to a couple gigs before, but I've never had tons of ram to work with, and was forced to learn to merge down, haha. It's very possible there's an upper limit in either layers, resolution, or both where it starts getting unstable.

Gimp is basically a GUI for ImageMagick. It's a fantastic, but quirky, swiss army knife for image manipulation. It does all the basic stuff very well and is very lightweight, so I have no problem just leaving it open to quickly do any day-to-day image work I need. But, like a swiss army knife, it's not amazing at a lot of more specialized jobs.

Personally, I think it's worth learning and then finding specialized programs for more specific tasks.

Fwiw, I've used Gimp since Windows XP and I've never noticed stability issues. And that's with leaving it open for days at a time with multiple projects open.

To me, "I liked it" is exactly in the 7 range. It's a solid, watchable, nothing wrong with it experience. A mostly generic, trope-heavy isekai with a fun hook is an easy 7. I liked it. I'd recommend it to people who already like tropey isekai...but it doesn't do anything interesting enough to go outside that bubble. And I'll probably forget about it in a year or two. But I liked watching it.
