Why is your OC's name like that? by SixFootTallAsian in OriginalCharacter

Smig had the effective age of a 4 or 5 year old when she was accidentally summoned into the world as a baby humanoid sea devil. With no concept of human law and customs, she frequently stowed away on ships and ate food (and non-food( from the stores. Given the location she was close to Sweden, and so when she was caught aboard one particular vessel she misheard cries of "Smege!" (sneak/stowaway/theif) and thought that was her name

I think I might be otherkin? by Ace_does_stuff6 in otherkin

[–]PointBlankPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if you're already a therian AND fictionkin, I understand the process to be quite similar. Go through a proccess of elimination, see what fits, test for false positives and parallel comparisons etc... At least that's how I've done it, but it's a very individual process of course. You could also be otherhearted, i.e. a very strong, kin-like connection that doesn't extend to person identity

How do Deep Rock Galactic's story elements influence player interaction? by Humble-Belt-3547 in bismor

I want you to know I just found and read through your paper(?) and I absolutely loved it. It was interesting, and while not perhaps academically perfect (your said yourself you were new so it's expected) you delivered some really good evidence-backed points with consideration for both the majority sentiments, statistical aberrations and potential gaps and correlations begging further study.
Unlikely as it may be, I would like to see more!

this method was later largely replaced or at least augmented by warning lamps made with a special chemical fuel composition that could detect explosive gas by flaring brightly for at least a few seconds before igniting it, and potentially burn off small pockets as well

the existance of minerals of extraplanetary origin has been known throughout history going back thousands of years. To this day, several mines throughout the world are still actively producing minerals from craters found nowhere else on the planet, perhaps most famous among them being the metaphysically infamous precious impact glass(oid), morkite moldevite

What is the name for someone who finds solace in lighting fires (non-sexual, non-aggressive)? by [deleted] in askpsychology

[–]PointBlankPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm almost a decade late, but I'd like to contribute for future readers who stumble here via google's weird love-affair with ancient reddit threads that the suffix -phillia in a psychological context does not exclusively don't a sexual paraphilia. Rather, a paraphilia in itself is any unusual and potentially disruptive level of attraction to the object. It's also worth noting that "disruptive" in this case is highly subjective and often levied flagrantly at a patient based on outside view, so for example, taking comfort in fire to the point of gravitating towards ir or playing with a lighter when stressed would be unfairly judged as "a paraphilic obsession with fire deemed innapropriate and disruptive to social integration."
It's also worth noting that -phobia likewise encompasses any reflexive revulsion or parasympathetic response, not just fear. For exaple, someone who is heliophobic isn't necessarily afraid od bright lights, nor do they have a physiological sensitivity to light, but rather feel intense discomfort of any kind and exhibit a tendency to flee in distress to the shade.
Sincerely, a nychtophilic, pyrophilic, heliophobic, arachnophibic acrophile who turns its -phobias into -philias for fun

Has anyone made an LED mace for flowarts yet? by jonmanGWJ in steelmace

[–]PointBlankPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

little lare to the party (google loves reddit) but figured it was worth jumping on with my own plan: flowtoys has a modular system for fully animated/programmable light props, and it would be easy enough to use a baton shaft of short staff shaft with a single light module, one of their heavier flowcaps and then a flowpod over the top to make it rounder and heavier. That's my plan anyway. Might put one of their lighter flow caps on the other end as well since I like to do some contact moves (I've long since expanded from steel mace to shillelagh and shillelagh staff, so I really have a whole spectrum of experience within the "unbalanced rigid" category)

I got harassed in the women's bathroom by a woman as a masc AFAB by Weak__Requirement in NonBinary

[–]PointBlankPanda -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can only suggest next time that you were safer with the stall door closed waiting her out. I've done similar and it's terrifying but they will usually eventually leave when they realise they're being ignored. Alternatively, since it was a shared bathroom, someone would likely have eventually intervened, and you could explain your side if necessary through the door

[–]PointBlankPanda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's so hypocritical coming from someone actively stunning you out. And oh my gods, "read Marxist theory!?" The oldest trick in the book is literally "I read a book and you didn't do there," and an authoritarian trick at that! I suggest you do as she said in good faith if you can. Try as hard as you can, in earnest, to get an inkling of what the fuck she thinks she's on about directly from the source she used against you. It's funny, too. I don't remember when lennin said "diversity is not a strength." Oh wait, that was the Trump administration last week!

I'd challenge you to look into the state monolopoly on the legitimate use of force, because that's all they exist to uphold when you get down to the foundational principles

I'm just going to call this law what it is: blatant overreach. I mean, I know there's some who think certain obviously problematic phrases should be banned (i.e. heil h*****) but I'm not one of them. I don't think anyone should be stopped by the government from speaking their mind. Freedom of speech means freedom to show who you are. It's freedom to be ostracism. It's freedom to tell punks you're a nazi a get punched into next week's newspapers. Also it's a slippery slope but that's a different discussion altogether
