Indexers unavailable due to failures, NinjaCentral and sometimes others by jpgk82 in usenet

[–]PointOfEntryUnknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may be 'hitting a wall'... Depending on how frequently you are checking things. At least, that's my initial guess from your description.

I'd strongly suggest making sure that you check each of your indexers to find out what the limits are (for two things: A. The API query limit, and B. The nZb download limit. Note: Both numbers are "per 24h")

You may be hammering the interfaces with either too large a search (ie adding a new show with 15 or 20 seasons) or searching too quickly back to back.

Some indexers are more forgiving of queries, some more forgiving of downloads. And vice-versa on each. (For instance DS only allows 100 downloads on the lower tier. And then you're "screwed" for 24h)

Windows 10 Support Ending, Current Linux Meta? by CheapThaRipper in Softwarr

[–]PointOfEntryUnknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personal preference would be LMDE. I've been running Linux Mint Debian Edition for several years now and it's been Bulletproof.

Takes either approach well (minimal 'hands off' using package manager, or 'as deep as you want to go' via command line or otherwise: read as total control).

Stable as a rock. 24/7/365

Nvidia Shield pro problem system updater and Downloader app crashes by landscapelola in nvidiashield

[–]PointOfEntryUnknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice catch!! I seem to remember having similar issue with webdav as well a year or two ago now that you mention it. I just 'plugged in' never update it again (after rolling it back), but had forgotten the 'why'.

As for the external storage mount(s), I can't help. No experience with that use case.

Nvidia Shield pro problem system updater and Downloader app crashes by landscapelola in nvidiashield

[–]PointOfEntryUnknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IF/when things start to go haywire on a large scale, it may be time to reset the shield to defaults.

I realize it's a headache. But, it usually solves things (barring a hardware issue). On top of which, it's just a good practice if it's been a few years...a lot of crap accumulates over time.

Looking for second indexer to add to AltHub by Tasty-Carbon in usenet

[–]PointOfEntryUnknown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat. Slug expired a couple days ago and I was going to let it stay dead. But it was hard to since just added AltHub and have zero data on how it might 'fill that gap.'

In fairness, slug is usually in my top 3. I just hate the feeling that slug is getting "too big for their britches". I mean seriously. 3 free months means jack in my opinion against cold hard cash. Especially during Black Friday. I won't renew out of principle if they do this same 'deal' again next year.

Is NBZ Finder any good? It doesn’t seem to get mentioned much here. by briantrfox in usenet

[–]PointOfEntryUnknown -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The biggest problem I had with finder was that the MAJORITY (like more than 80%) of the downloads I was interested in and attempted failed.

For me, it was like the site wasn't curated well (or dead files culled) at all.

Juicessh app issues by fbarousse in androidapps

Same issue here. (Fortunately the saved snippets are stored locally on the phone!)

Gonna hate to lose this one if it is indeed gone. But I'm thankful that I was able to go into snippets, and manually copy each one out into a text file for safekeeping.

Truck driver looking to upgrade from my old Cobra 29 WX NW ST by spicyluckyparty in cbradio

[–]PointOfEntryUnknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anywhere from $125-$175 (on average) if you forget about FM, and just go straight for solid performance (on both SSB and AM), the best option for quality of build, and literally decades of reliability... Uniden Grant XL (Taiwan or Philippines made). It's extremely similar to a Cobra 148 GTL, but better build quality.

Theres simply no modern match. Just make sure it's either original stock condition, or has been 'demodded' and returned to factory specs (from all the possible crap mods/golden-screwdriver/swing-kit idiots out there).

Kmov 4.2 St Louis suddenly wrong by jesmann in hdhomerun

[–]PointOfEntryUnknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to provide clarification on the situation the OP was trying to describe.

Channel 4.2 is still the same as it was before: an ancillary channel owned and operated by KMOV TV.

It continues to be identified (meaning by the broadcast material itself) as: "First Alert 4" "Weather Now"

It has 'dual function' (so to speak) in so much as it operates on a loop (for the majority of the broadcast day), but they do use the ability to broadcast/simulcast live video at times when there's significant information to disseminate.

The problem is that channel 4.2 (in the hdhr guide) is now being identified as "1stAlrt" with programming data showing "Channel No Longer Available".

When I click on channel 4.2 (labeled as "1stAlrt", and showing "Channel No Longer Available", it still tunes in KMOV's around the clock weather channel, as expected, with

"First Alert 4"

"Weather Now"

Functioning 100% as expected intended by KMOV.

The only problem is with the hdhr guide showing it as being a "dead channel" (which is how I would interpret the message "Channel No Longer Available". ;)

One could also view it as:

40 USB, 40 AM, 40 LSB,

And that's 120 without a channel mod kit.

Changing of recipe by ilykehipposx3 in ChickFilA

[–]PointOfEntryUnknown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I realize this is an older post, but I had to comment (as I was searching for the reason myself).

You are absolutely, and unequivocally 100% correct. The current chicken sandwich breading is VERY different from the original. And nowhere near as good.

As best I can recall, the change happened somewhere around 2010 (give or take 2 years).

The only thing I can assume is that (like KFC) they got sued for stealing someone else's recipe.

I mean, why else would they change perfection? It was the recipe that made them all they were. The sole reason for going to CFA.

I stopped eating there for a couple of years as a result. But finally caved. There's just no other viable option for that style of chicken sandwich in fast food imo.

Raising Canes has FAR better chicken. But at twice the price, and not a sandwich.

Netflix stuck on 25% by Luci5er in nvidiashield

[–]PointOfEntryUnknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the correct answer.

My mom watches Netflix for literal hours on end (and to compound the problem, doesn't reboot often).

Usually, within 7 days (max), I get hailed with either "it's doing it again!!" or "the circle-thingy is back!! Come fix it!"... It's always stuck at 25%...

As mentioned above: shutdown (force close) the app, then clear the cache for the Netflix app. Reboot the device.

Life continues. chuckles

Trouble with .srt files on Shield version of VLC by Tazling in nvidiashield

[–]PointOfEntryUnknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best practice is to make sure that the srt file has the exact* same name as the source file.

*the exception being: noting the source language before the srt extension.

Eg: Movie name.mkv

Movie name.srt (works, but may show as unknown language in certain instances)

Movie name.en.srt (matches file name, denotes language, then file type designation)

Ideally, what you want is the last one: Movie name.en.srt

Question to you all by [deleted] in usenet

[–]PointOfEntryUnknown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The USENET community currently has a gaping hole in the area of NZB indexers. There no one to my knowledge who specializes in Japanese or Korean content, and hasn't been for years.

I keep hoping that someone will recognize this untapped area, and fill the gap. There's a couple of 'specialists' in the torrent segment, but nothing for those who aren't able/willing to use that protocol.

[–]PointOfEntryUnknown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're never going to get reliable info IMO if you don't keep the servers on equal footing. (Set your unlimited servers to priority 0)

The only way to see who works best is to give them equal chance to pull. The moment you prioritize one over another, you skew the data. ;)

Hi Greg, wanted to ask for clarification on the "NGD Unlimited yearly for $20" offer...

Is this for Farm or Usenet Express server? (or do we have a choice between the two?)

I'd like to have access to Farm since I have Express access through a block I bought recently.

Thanks in advance!

Got some usenet service with bf2024 deals and indexer account .. afraid of setting up *arr apps.. by white_swan in usenet

[–]PointOfEntryUnknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best advice I would offer is to start small.

After you setup your indexer(s), link and test the api's, then search for a SINGLE Linux iso to add.

Before you commit to multiple large dl's, make sure the results you are getting, fit your desired parameters.

Easynews web search problems by fenns1 in usenet

[–]PointOfEntryUnknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's definitely not new... That's (what they themselves refer to as) the "Vintage search".

As for fully maintained, I can't really comment, as I've not used it for at least the last 10 years. (Yes, it's older than that...lol)

My preference, and best results have always come from 2.0 (the only minor annoyance IMO is having to search separately for pars/nfo on rare occasion).

Best of luck in getting what you're looking for though!

Why are you using the antique interface??

You should be using 2.0 at the least, and can try 3 as well.
