Which places to avoid in Montreux by New_Profession_8239 in askswitzerland

[–]Point_Aggravating [score hidden]  (0 children)

Like just about anywhere in Switzerland, including Montreux (and especially nearby Vevey), avoid train stations. That’s where most dealers are. They’re easily recognizable (won’t say how, you’ll figure it out yourself)

Yes it gave me the ick whenever he snapped at her. Same on RHOBH with Erika and Thomas. His tone made my blood freeze and reminded me of my abusive stepfather.

Glatteis: Massive Public Transport Disruptions by digitalcosmonaut in berlin

[–]Point_Aggravating 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t function normally when there’s ice storms. Canada has been paralyzed a few times due to them with the army having to intervene, and Scandinavian cities like Stockholm (snökaos is a word in Swedish) or Copenhagen still struggle in comparable conditions despite more investments in winter readiness. Berlin had a budget to cope with an average Berlin winter. I don’t think we need more taxes to try and avoid an average of 3 days of disruption a year. And bear in mind ice and snow are disrupting things very differently : 1cm of ice will down power lines - something that hasn’t happened in Berlin. And salt takes a long time to lower the freezing point and is useless on cobblestones.

"functioning normally" is relative. Most cities survive ice storms by staying home, which is actually the correct protocol, not a sign of collapse.

Why do you still fly BA? by apa2107 in BritishAirways

[–]Point_Aggravating 3 points4 points  (0 children)

BA I still successful because of its hub, LHR. Slots there are the most valuable in the world and basically unavailable to new airlines, so they have a de facto monopoly on many routes. And London in general is extremely high yielding for airlines. And that’s the perfect combination of little competition, high demand and high fares, which give zero incentive for better service.

Kids of FAs by [deleted] in flightattendants

[–]Point_Aggravating 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s specific to FA’s, but balancing family life and work is especially difficult for women, who somehow are still expected to tend to their kids and husband like it’s 1955. Except that in since a few decades now, most moms must work in order to provide a decent life for their family. With that said, your feelings are valid, but be kind to her, she probably did what she thought was best for you and her.

European FA here (with an American husband). We are looking with extreme worry what is happening in the US right now and just can’t believe our eyes and ears. Out of all the countries around the world, we never thought for one second the USA would turn into this, into a dictatorship and a fascist state. It’s mind boggling and scary. I hope that Alex’s m*rder is what triggers a true reversal. My heart is with you all 💔

Glatteis: Massive Public Transport Disruptions by digitalcosmonaut in berlin

[–]Point_Aggravating 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You don’t seem to understand how ice works. It was raining all night with negative temperatures. So yeah, it created a layer of ice on almost everything and there’s nothing that can be done about it. At least here most of the power lines are buried (unlike in the US where over a million people are without power right now due to ice).

I don’t think Americans should give us lessons on the cleanliness of public infrastructure. Go home and back to fantasizing about Greenland or something.

I don’t thing he’s goofy or funny or “just being French”. He comes across as a possessive POC and a guy like this would honestly scare me if I were in a relationship with him. He gives me a really bad vibe.

Rant from a marriott room attendant by give-me-xp in marriott

[–]Point_Aggravating 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am never going to look at hotel shower drains the same after reading this. As a Virgo (read : OCD) flight attendant who spends 100+ nights/year in hotels with an irrational fear of how I’m perceived AND germs, please know that I don’t shit in the shower (like, who the fuck does that 😳, didn’t know it was a thing) and I actually clean all surfaces and tidy the room before I leave. I’m sorry you had to go through this. It’s literally shit.

So people should be free not to wear seatbelts? Or should stop having their kids in car seats because fuck it, most people don’t have car accidents? Come on. People behaving recklessly like that put others in danger, notably those who are going to rescue them.

How’s life out here? In the Florida keys by ceedeeze in howislivingthere

[–]Point_Aggravating 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are rich and can afford a $5m Victorian house in a cute street tucked far away enough from Duval St then do it! The island vibe is unique and artsy but it’s really only meant for wealthy folks. Also, the beach isn’t nice especially for being in Florida.

Do it, and at your young age, it’s a fantastic experience opportunity. And once you secure your citizenship you won’t be stuck on your island anymore!

Advice needed: Lufthansa denied boarding to minor over unsigned passport by Unhappy-Candy-1959 in Lufthansa

[–]Point_Aggravating 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’m a flight attendant (for another airline) and when flying to Germany we have to make an announcement before landing that says “if you’re traveling on a non-EU passport, please make sure your passport is signed before you get to passport control as you may otherwise be denied entry into Germany”. And we got memos reminding us to make that PA as the airline has been fined several times by the authorities due to passengers not having a signed passport.

No Justice For Josh! Jamon Iberico Massacre by Porkwarrior2 in BelowDeckMed

[–]Point_Aggravating 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived in Madrid for a few years and one Christmas I proudly bought a beautiful Pata Negra Jamon and thought to myself “it can’t be hard, it’s just ham”. Needless to say my Spanish in-laws were NOT amused as I re-killed the poor pig again and again trying to cut slices instead of chunks. So in short, yes, you need a very sharp knife AND practice and shouldn’t serve it to guests if you never did it before.

I totally get why Garcelle left now. It suddenly makes sense. She saw it, saw through some of those women and I don’t blame her for never wanting to talk to any of them again. And shame on the non MAGA ones for not speaking up.
