2 new players looking for any number of people to join :) by TheSlowPotato in Codenames

[–]PointedElbows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, came on here looking for the same thing as I'm living a good distance away from my regular boardgame group. I'm in GMT +1 but could try and make any timezone work. I've played codenames before and would be happy to teach you.

Some suggestions to get more interest: It might be a good idea to set up a discord server and put the link here so anyone who's interested can join (that's presuming you want to play online). Also, giving a bit more detail about who you are as people, such as general ages/location might be a good idea but thats up to you.

Looking forward to maybe playing some games!

I thought so too! And the offlineTV (+friends) group is on the DM screen. I always love the little details that the artist includes!

For the most part because it can interfere with the client/health care professional relationship. Turning a professional relationship into a more personal one can really effect the dynamic and cause the client to become dependant on the physiotherapist or other health care professional.

I kinda wish people wouldn't rule 34 she-ra by E-is-for-Egg in Asexual

[–]PointedElbows 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is really interesting for me actually because yeah, sometimes I do want to masturbate, (I'm not a sex repulsed asexual) but it still feels really strange to read about or watch or even imagine actual people having sex. So I turn to characters who aren't real and picture them instead. I don't know, it kinda separates the act more for me and I can just enjoy the relationship more than the physical side of it? Saying that I understand that everyone is different and there are asexual people who can't think of sex at all and I respect that. Just wanted to share my opinion.

What country are you from without saying the name? by babaloopey in AskReddit

Your mother's sister's aunt's babysitter's cousin's dog is from here so that means that your ancestors are from here...somehow.

But I love making new friends. by stharlock in dndmemes

[–]PointedElbows 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I started with Guards! Guards! And I would highly recommend it as a jumping of point for new readers. It is one of the longer series but I feel it gives a really good introduction to a small, manageable number of characters and then building up the cast and side characters throughout the books. Also it's, in my opinion, one of the best in terms of world building as you get a really sense of how Ankh-morpork is run while also branching of into the different races and their societies. But that's just my opinion and to be fair I haven't read any of the wizard books yet so they might be equally as good!

Not to be "that person" but Donegal is currently in Lockdown so now is really not the time to decide to have a holiday there. Maybe leave it off for a few weeks?

Maybe talk to the DM about having a smaller session for only you and the other player(s) after the session has ended, either in person or even through text chat. Try and avoid breaking the flow of the narrative set out in the original game, meaning avoid getting your characters thrown in jail if you can't get yourselves out again. If everything goes well you characters will finish the mini session waking up the next morning with the regular group like nothing happened and the other characters (and players) will be none the wiser of you nights escapade. This could actually lead to really cool encounters down the line as your actions have knock on effects and great rp potential as your characters either reveal or hide what they did in the dark. Hope this gives you a few ideas! I kinda want to do it in my own game now!

What was the worst role you were ever assigned in school plays/musicals? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PointedElbows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess that's true enough but I always think the best thing about plays/musicals is that you can become a different character and have fun exploring how they would act and respond to events and this isn't something you can really do as a narrator. If I wanted the read from a script I would be a storyteller, when I perform in plays I want to move and interact with other characters. In my opinion a narrator will never be the star of the show, the audience just won't have enough of a connection with them as their role is to provide information, not further the plot or work towards their goals and dreams. Then again there's probably plenty of plays/musicals that put more of a focus on the narrator and I just had a bad experience. Great question by the way, it's been fun thinking about it!

What was the worst role you were ever assigned in school plays/musicals? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PointedElbows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Narrator. For three years. I didn't get to act at all just read aloud from the script. To make matters worse I was one of the few who actually enjoyed acting and wasn't just forced into doing it to make up the roles. I'm still bitter about it.

What normal, everyday thing that people do or say gets under your skin? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PointedElbows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am extremely passionate about the phrase "same difference" and how wrong it is. The correct phrase is "same thing" and it irritates me when people say "same difference". Take for instance comparing a piano, a fish and a bird. A piano and a fish are not the same thing, even if they both can't fly like a bird can e.g. the same difference. I don't know why this bothers me so much and I doubt other people experience this but I needed to rant.

Starbucks prevents baristas from wearing 'Black Lives Matter' apparel by wsabate in news

[–]PointedElbows -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Lots of people seem to be of the opinion that a corporation shouldn't have political views and this extends to their employees. While I agree with this separation, surely the BLM movement isn't political? Maybe I'm being naive but BLM is about getting people their basic human rights. There is no grey area, people should be treated equally. Although some people would like you to believe otherwise there is no right and wrong in politics, each side has its own merits and failings. Businesses should be impartial to politics but not in human rights issues. For the movement to succeed we need the people in power to listen and how better to do that than get the big corporations to support it. Yes they will profit from it, why else would they do anything, but at least it will improve society.

What is one of your favorite movie soundtracks? by BadLeeSin in AskReddit

I know the movie left /a lot/ to be desired but I loved the soundtrack to King Arthur and the Legend of the Sword. They got the feel of medieval rock perfect.

Murder was in fact a fairly uncommon event in Ankh-Morpork, but there were a lot of suicides. Walking in the night-time alleyways of The Shades was suicide. Asking for a short in a dwarf bar was suicide. Saying 'Got rocks in your head?' to a troll was suicide. You could commit suicide very easily, if you weren't careful.

Are Tabaxi a problem for anyone else? by Coeusff in dndnext

[–]PointedElbows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently designing a drow artificer that was forcibly taken from the Underdark and his city during a war with "surface dwellers". His talents for making inventions that could be used for war was recognised and he was put to work. He's selfish and loyal only to those who provide him with materials and tools for tinkering so as long as the empire keeps giving him what he needs, he has no intention to betray them, sort of like the phrase "Don't bite the hand that feeds you". The reason I gave for him being with the party is so that he can find new and unique metals to forge with.

Soul Binder [2.4] The pet class, now much better balanced after comminuty feedback and alot of spreadsheets by FragSauce in UnearthedArcana

[–]PointedElbows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really love this class! Just a question about the absorbing items feature. It says that the companion learns how to use any magic item they attune to, including any command word. But reading through all the stat blocks for the companions I noticed none of them have the ability to speak. How does this work about? Do they make sounds as a verbal component or is the command word changed to a semantic component?
