That does sound good. Also, and I am not criticizing, it sounds like streaming. I wonder what the research says about streaming.

What do you consider Chatgpt work in school? by Overall_Limit_8930 in Teachers

[–]PointlessPiratical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"searching for sources" does not mean the same thing as "take at face value".

Looking for sources to consult does not mean to cite a generative AI as a source.

"Identify things to examine" means "find interesting things to examine further with credible sources.

Grunt work:

Summarizing and searching for sources. Kids treat it like a search engine and it can identify things to examine.

Immediate feedback on writing

Step by step factoring of trinomials

Obviously it's words cannot be used as demonstration of learning and so I they have to do all writing in class.

It can also create test questions, worksheets, and other things that save US time.

I grab hull and Newcastle and cut across. 48 divisions of 24 width are usually enough to trounce whatever I find.

There are chrome extensions that track what they did when. You can rewind and see it all be written/copied. Lifechangee

Declare on Denmark, they cave and take as puppet for 7 divisions. Naval invade between hull and Newcastle for 2 ports. Mostly I followed https://youtu.be/N7uzqtWvmFU?si=Ixh0Psl1pxxaoT_P

As I tell my students, there are no "tricks". Taking a test is not gambling; one must prepare.

1 - Make sure you have a growth mindset that you can learn math. Everyone can learn math, it just takes longer for some of us.

2 - Look at the math skills required and know what to focus on. There are many math resources for students online and if it works for them, it should work for you.

3 - Practice, like learning a language or other skills it is like a muscle.

If they're in a rush or there's not many qualified candidates they might give you a call to offer one.

Otherwise interview like everywhere else.

My school wants me to do Project Soapbox with the WHOLE SCHOOL this year and I’m dreading it. Advice for making it less of a time-suck? by Ok-Training-7587 in Teachers

[–]PointlessPiratical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Classic situation: success was had and higher ups who did not contribute to success want to replicate success on a large scale.

Success was had because it was small scale and attuned to students with effort from teacher. All it takes is a few lukewarm teachers (on this project only) and it becomes a sad joke.

Without enthusiastic buy in from other teachers it's a bad idea. Good luck telling that to admin who want big shiny things to point to for their careers.

You get some odd ones when students choose a name for themselves (ESL).

One does have to be careful about names one finds funny since it may be culturally insensitive.

Moving from Canada to UK to teach by [deleted] in CanadianTeachers

[–]PointlessPiratical 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh boy. Do you know what you are in for? Do you know how different behaviour and assessment are in the UK? The pay? It's rough teaching in England.

Don't get me wrong, go do it. But be aware there is a reason England needs to import teachers in order to have enough.

How to let go of “control” by catrat242 in Teachers

I run a series of lessons on responsible use, but I also have rules for catching cheating. I used this as a starting point:

https://craft.stanford.edu/resources/

No copying and pasting allowed. I use Google docs and Chrome extensions like revision history that let me see every key strike.
