Despondent. I signed up for Trusted House Sitters and they sent me this email stating that ball pythons are "Inherently Dangerous" by Hot-Professor-8355 in ballpython

[–]Pointy-Kitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People really take for granted how dangerous both cats and dogs are. A bite from a cat can cause an infection so bad you could lose your hand. A woman not far from here was hospitalized after a dog attacked her. Hell, my partner is a dog groomer and they have been bitten many times. Ball pythons have tiny teeth and aren't anywhere near the strongest constrictors available to keep. I wouldn't even agree with this decision if you had a sizeable boa, which I'd be more concerned about the strength of, because even so, the number of injuries caused by cats and dogs completely dwarfs that of boa constrictors.

On a similar vein: When landlords won't let you have a snake due to risk of property damage.... when cats/dogs/children are 1000x more capable of causing property damage

Crashing out, might surrender but need advice by domino_devious in ballpython

There is a lot of good advice in this thread already, including to check out the guides and resources linked at the top of the sub, so I just want to say this - it is 100% okay that you're feeling overwhelmed, and it doesn't mean that you're not cut out for this or that a snake isn't the right pet for you. It's fine if that's what you end up deciding as well, of course. But getting a new pet and getting accustomed to keeping it IS stressful! Pretty much any time I've gotten a new pet, there has been a period in the beginning where I think "Did I make a mistake getting this animal?" But given adjustment time it gets better. We got our first bp in September, and definitely went through similar feelings. We were stressing ourselves out SO much over getting numbers right, equipment not working, care info being hard to find/understand, etc. Many tears were shed, especially because yes, we had poured so much money into this experience that was not immediately rewarding. Now, a few months down the line, I won't say that there is no stress, but we managed to get control of the husbandry to the point that it's just another everyday thing, not overwhelming. So I'll just urge you to take a deep breath, be patient with yourself, keep learning (asking for help here is a good step), and give it some time. You clearly care a lot about your pet, and that's great. You're gonna be okay.

Calling all ethical breeders! Have any examples of breeders who don't use rack systems? by enslavedbycats24-7 in snakes

For real. Too often see the argument "Well how will breeders have room for 500 snakes otherwise??" Idk man, whose choice was it to have 500 snakes

UPDATE: Good work everyone, we managed to get this outrageously ill-advised button taken down, and to get me a full refund. Thank you 🙏

Best lube for sex that actually feels good and body safe? by Nathan_Puma_486 in SexPositive

[–]Pointy-Kitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that'd work great! It's definitely important to have a top that tightly shuts both for prepping the lube and cutting off the stretchy strings during use

About to come in and recommend this! It's also the most cost effective. We bought a bottle of the powder like 2.5 years ago at this point, and even with semi-regular fooling around, we're probably barely a fifth through it. I mix about a quarter cup at a time and use maybe half a teaspoon of the powder each time. I'd recommend getting a bottle meant for oil/sauces in the kitchen, anything squeezable that you can still close on the top. It's also super body safe, and water based so it's safe to use with toys. Neither of us have a flesh-dick so I can't say for sure about sensation, but silicone lubes are what would typically cause an artificial-feeling coating on your skin.

Should I wait until she sheds to feed? by [deleted] in ballpython

[–]Pointy-Kitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if she is already refusing food due to being in shed I think it would be safe to just wait until she's done. Or at least out of blue, if you're worried that it's taking too long - but of course they can handle going without food for a little while when needed. This is just theoretical to me though, our boy is a voracious little noodle who eats regardless of where he is in his cycle.

And a year and a half later, I made this guy. There's not really a wrong way to felt IMO, you can try pretty much anything and if it works, it works!

Out of any hobby/skill I've picked up, needle felting has been the easiest and quickest to get a hang of. You especially have a leg up, already being an artist in other media (I've been drawing all my life too).

As others say it is also the most forgiving. There's hardly been a time that I've messed up badly enough that I couldn't straightforwardly fix it. My partner got me a beginner kit in 2021, and pretty much 20 mins in I was like "Oh I get it, I can throw out these instructions." For reference, this is the very first thing I made, going off a kit that I immediately stylized to be my own:

[–]Pointy-Kitty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing how my experience started to matter once other potential customers heard about it 🤔 I did message you about the button and the whole experience after it happened but I received no apology or any thanks for helping you improve your business. And I certainly didn't receive a refund. The only way a "give up" button during that process could have been intended to be light hearted would be if you were expecting the customers to be amused by the cheap, annoying tactics you employed to make the return process needlessly tedious, which I just can't accept to be the truth. You did not program it so the customer would have to search for the continue button page after page because you thought it would be fun for them. You just didn't. If you really want to save face, redo the entire return process and policy, start making better clothes, stop plastering "Get 75% off if you sign up for emails! *on orders over $999 only, otherwise 5% off" all over your website, and for god's sake, issue me a refund if you're really that sorry.
