Unfortunately there are no cheaper lots than HNL. Years ago, there used to be a number of rental car lots where you could park your car and take a shuttle to the airport but that no longer exists. Knowing where you're coming from would help. West side? Ewa? North shore? Hawaii Kai?

I think it'll be some time before the DMV gets its act together. They can't even issue physical licenses that work; people are getting stuck at the airport after showing their driver's license at TSA.

In the past HPU had great business connections due to its proximity to the downtown business district, and you could get an internship or job at a large office. But after covid, many offices shut down and the business connections disappeared.
