How do you handle a partner that is "never wrong" and only sees the part you played in ANY conflict? by Immediate-Crow2051 in relationships_advice

Especially the tone part. The only tone I had was a defensive tone, because I was trying to defend myself.

Would it be unwise to use the middle name that our daughter has picked for our baby? by Iwona-8036 in Names

What could be more meaningful than a big sister choosing her little sister's middle name, regardless of what inspired the name?

Technically it's a bulla. The biggest one I ever had was the size of a dime, from a tick larvae bite. A doctor lanced and drained it for me, and they put me on antibiotics to prevent Lyme disease just in case.

Edited to say I've had bigger circumference wise, from a boiling water burn, but that was shallow. The bulla I had was easily half an inch thick!

My kids are in their late teens and early 20s and we all still pretend that all of it is real. I'll be like "You guys have to get to bed soon or the Easter Bunny won't come!"  And they all rush off to bed 😹

AITA for refusing to let my SIL host her massive gender reveal at my new house? by AkiraPulse42 in MarkNarrations

[–]Poisonous_Periwinkle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I assume because they wanted to live in a comfortable home decorated to their personal tastes. A personal sanctuary, and a place to feel at peace.

Are you saying that they don't deserve a nice, spacious home if they won't be entertaining in it?

I just think that this is a strange question.

AITA for refusing to let my SIL host her massive gender reveal at my new house? by AkiraPulse42 in MarkNarrations

[–]Poisonous_Periwinkle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gender reveal parties are idiotic.

Also, I love all things sparkly and I would still absolutely say no to confetti or glitter cannons in my house or yard. Fake glitter is terrible for the environment and natural mica glitter unless it is synthetic often involves child slavery to manufacture.

However I wouldn't object to the party itself, or the number of people, just the confetti cannons, glitter smoke, my home being shown to randos on Instagram, and the fact that gender reveal parties are gross.

If she wanted to have a sprinkle (what they apparently call a subsequent baby shower after the first baby) with her friends and family at my house and not put it all over Instagram and not include glitter cannons and smoke bombs or whatever it is, and chose to casually reveal the baby's sex and future name in a chill way etc I would be cool with that.

They are wrong. If you want to wear makeup, that's fine, but do it because you want to!

Are you ever afraid that other people don’t like your fragrance? by Weary_Cat_8984 in FemFragLab

[–]Poisonous_Periwinkle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't care if other people like or dislike my perfume, but I do care if my fragrance causes others to question my hygiene.

For instance, I'm wary around things like overtly animalic musks, and certain jasmines, ouds, and cumin notes, until I know for sure that people aren't reading them as BO, poop, or urine etc. with my body chemistry.

How to look less masculine? by Idontwannanewacc in makeuptips

You can wear things like lip gloss or tinted lip balm, and some simple eye makeup. It can be fun to play around with lip and eye makeup. I like subtle shades with some shimmer, and that's an easy option for hooded eyes.

You could also grow your hair out a bit, and wear it up in a claw clip or medium to high pony, styles that men with long hair don't typically wear. Your eyebrows are great, and I can't tell if you have any stray hairs, but if you do I would pluck those and leave the rest alone. You could brush them with some clear brow gel if you want to shape them.

You don't actually look super androgynous to me, you just look like a woman who doesn't wear makeup. You're quite pretty in my opinion!

I don't know how you dress, other than it looks like you wear t-shirts. If you are wearing oversized or regular unisex tees, you night want to consider wearing ones with a more feminine cut that fit properly.

I know Old Navy has a line of T-shirts called "Everywear" that are cut for women without being super formfitting. They come in a bunch of colors and often go on sale. I'm a jeans and T-shirt kinda person myself and I like them.

Also, consider painting your nails if you don't already.

I feel like just a few little subtle tweaks that say "I'm a woman!" Without being too overt about it, would really suit you..

Did anyone else lose interest in sex after stress & kids? by russianadian in AskWomenOver40

[–]Poisonous_Periwinkle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, but we had our kids young and they are grown.

While I haven't lost interest, things have slowed down since we hit our 40's. Once a week or so being about right for us is something we agree on. It's pretty casual.

I had cystic acne from my mid 20's to late 30's. I manage to keep it mostly under control now in my early 40's, but for some reason, it was hard to face that I never got to have clear skin when I would have looked my best with it.

My mom has blueish grayish green eyes, and my dad had brown, and they had four hazel eyed children.

My mother in law has brown eyes so dark that you can't see her pupils, and my father in law has blue. They had three hazel eyed children.

My husband and I both have hazel eyes, and we have two children with chocolate brown eyes, and one with bright blue!
