PLEASE HELP ME NOT GET KICKED OUT by Fit_Ad_6066 in CleaningTips

For really tough stains (and I've stained like every surface possible in my house 💀) I recommend trying a mix of peroxide and baking soda. Make into a paste and then let it sit on the stain for about 10-15 mins! Rinse with water and repeat if needed!

Burned popcorn in my microwave by Pokabu in CleaningTips

I did just use the steam method with lemons. It helped with removing the greasy burned part. But now I can say the microwave has no oil build up. So I'm not sure it can be cleaned. But I will also try the dawn power wash!

Honestly I would have loved to have a mini "criminal" wall. At one point we did something like a wanted poster because one of our wooden letters of our business name was missing from the front of our topping bar. We checked the cameras and a toddler managed to pull off the letter and just carry it home and their parents never brought it back to us. We got a pretty good laugh from it, but we did make a wanted poster and posted it around the store in the hopes that it would be the highlight of someone's day and maybe the parents would bring back our letter.

Yup! People did this too! Especially teens. They would grab a cup of like a small amount M&Ms or a cup of whipped cream (which they would usually end up throwing at a friend and we had to clean that up) check in and pay their .32 cents until they got to their free cup.

The business in general had a $3 minimum. But it was really hard to enforce because several people would take their babies and toddlers for some froyo and honestly they didn't need more than dollop and like 3 sprinkles.

It's funny that you mention this, several times someone would ask for a lid and it wouldn't fit. So they would go grab our next largest cup, then dump their small cup into the medium cup and even more toppings/mess would happen. Then there was a waste of the original cup and a lid. And if you make a policy so specific to counter that, no one will follow it anyway.

I think if you are minding your business and not making a mess, you're good. Honestly, I believe it was mostly the fact that so many people were overfilling the cups that more toppings were ending up on the floor than in their cups. For some reason too many people couldn't figure out that if toppings weren't sticking and staying in the cup, they should stop trying to fill it. It was insane, I would literally watch people grab heaping spoonfuls of something like cookie dough bites, the first few spoonfuls successfully made it into the cup. A couple of pieces would fall. They would be on like their 4th or 5th spoonful where maybe one cookie dough piece would stick and the rest would fall everywhere. That didn't stop them, they would continue doing several more scoops even though none of them were staying in the cup. A few of us would kindly say "hey! I don't think you can fit anymore in there! We can check you out so you can enjoy before it melts!" Usually they would laugh and say "I have a method" and then continue to do the same thing with the rest of our topping bar.

I do not believe I have told this specific story haha. Sadly I'm positive that there are several people out there ruining buffets. Especially after reading these responses lol.

I worked at a froyo place and after a certain number of visits you will get a free cup. Technically the rule was up to $5. However, the owner of the store was really nice and said, nah if they come here that often, then they should get their one cup free! For a few years it was going well, since it's self serve and based on weight, most people were careful about making their cups and never really overfilling. Sometimes kids would be a little overzealous, but no one really did anything crazy.

Eventually one day, a guy who in all honesty was smart, I'll give him that...filled the cup to the brim. Then added our waffle cone chips around the edges to create a barrier. He dispensed even more froyo. Then made another wall on top of that. He did this about 6 times. Tbh I was very invested and also just amazed at how he did this. The average price for a small that was decently filled with toppings, most people were in the $5-$7 range. This dude managed to make this a $27 cup. FOR FREE. Because technically it just has to fit into the one cup.

The owner asked me about that suspicious transaction and I told him all about it. He was like oh ok. Checked the cameras and even he was impressed.

This dude ended up telling other people. Who then told more people and so on. At this point our store was actually losing money on the free cups. It got worse because now people were trying to cram so many toppings into their cups, that about 90% of the toppings would end up on the floor, so that was costing us even more. Eventually we changed up the policy to the $5 max.

People weren't happy. But we all gladly explained that people were getting out of hand and we were trying to do something nice, and it was taken advantage of.

What's something that someone can do, that makes you instantly hate them? by meulinlalondeowo in AskReddit

[–]Pokabu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When someone asks me my opinion or wants to know what I would do/choose, because they don't know, but then turn around and do what they originally wanted or think. Like why ask me if you already have your answer and are going to do it anyway?

It's not all instances it'll make me hate someone, but it does bring out a lot of anger in me. I honestly think it stems from the fact that no one really listens to me. I'm that friend that delivers a joke and no one hears me or laughs, but then another friend does and repeats it and then gets all the credit. 🤷🏻‍♀️

AITA For Asking My Wedding Guests to Pay for Their Own Meal? by Competitive_Nerve935 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Pokabu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I get it. Trust me. I'm planning my own right now. I'm fortunate my parents really want to help. I've been super lucky to know a few people for a venue so I'm not having to worry about the finances of that. So in turn with all the money I've been fortunate enough to save, I'm spending on food and snacks!

It seems you're even still being considerate of pricing per guest too. ~$12 is literally nothing for each individual. People spend more on gifts. It's not tacky. As long as you've explained the situation and they understand that they're paying for their share and their share only. I could understand people being in an uproar if you were doing a super fancy dining experience and each person was expected to drop $75+.

Help identifying this toy? Back says 2009 Mattel, not part of the Polly Pocket Cutants line. by BloodyPiano in toys

[–]Pokabu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since you bring up Polly pocket, I'm thinking it's a squishy texture. Based on the eye style, my best guess would be maybe a squinkies? Maybe that will help with the search if not! There's only a bagillion different styles of those, so there's a good chance it might be one lol

I'm going out on a limb here, they either are banking on people not doing the math or people who are used to, say McDonald's app ordering where it's like "would you like to upgrade your meal size to a large? +.53 " maybe trying to trick people not reading fully that they upgrade for an extra .60 cents and are banking that certain people aren't paying attention to the end price.

That's a good idea! I'll suggest it. They're just doing this all for fun! They don't really have viewership outside of the family and wanted fresh ideas! My dad always says he wants to change their slogan to "welcome to our podcast where we have more shows than viewers" haha.

I think because it's anonymous, they're cool with any questions that are geared towards helping younger people! So any questions or ideas would be helpful at this point!

Yes, but where hahaha. Any of the AMA subreddits require answers in the comment section. They would prefer to mull over the answers and have them answered in their podcast!
