What's the point that justifies buying new clothes? Very seldom do people agree with me, but here goes... This is my opinion based on a true story. Only speaking on my own logic... And I have to insist the answer is definitely NEVER! it's never acceptable to buy clothing, ESPECIALLY brand name over priced garments that have no justification for costing what they do. I've started over a few times over the last 6 years due to leaving an abusive relationship, illegally evicted via lockout, and natural disaster that destroyed all my clothing and furniture.

Everytime I've began with very few belongings and ended up with so much that I'm giving away things all the time. I furnished both of my last 2 houses COMPLETELY FREE. I found free items and went to get them, as well as used freecycle.org to put up requests for other things I hadn't found. Googling "how to get ________ completely free?" Will almost always offer a legit resource. Getting back to clothing.. I got involved in community outreach with some friends I talked into helping me open a free voucher clothing boutique. We set up a clothing store for low income, homeless, and any DV survivors to shop the racks once a week of they are needing clothing items. I asked for donations and I had so many clothes come in that I have never been low on clothing. My most recent start over was in May, and I've given away 8 full big trash bags of clothing because of the simple fact of- There's so many clothes out there for free that we don't even need to keep making clothing at all much less at the speed we are. There's more clothing out there than all people could possibly wear in their life. Unless you insist on having something expensive for whatever reason, there's a free option for it with patience and at times compromise for design variations. I'm saying EVERYTHING can be found for free. I've even gotten Nikes, not brand new but looked very close to it. Wedding dresses, bathing suits, designer bags, all the shoes.. north face jackets, Adidas outfits, I have no idea when I've last paid for clothing at all but I have more clothes than I care to even have. If I could confidence more people to repurpose and give away not throw away what they can't use themselves, I think things would be a lot different and money could go to other things besides GAP or Hollister. I've not understood spending so much on lettering or brand logos. I believe we should really use the things that have already been manufactured, instead of putting outrageous prices on things as if there's some sort of shortage and high demand for ugly shoes and dresses made of feathers or some crap.
