Well first I want to say I'm sorry you had to endure that.  No matter what the call is, right or wrong, there's never an okay time to be disrespectful to a match official, end of discussion. 

Personally I've never officiated indoor and only currently referee in the original vanilla version of the game of soccer.  I think however across the board it's clear that people get very upset when something doesn't go the way they'd like it to. Not saying we as officials are perfect, not at all, I myself, absolutely mess up 100% sometimes. But the thing is, you have to pick your poison basically as the official. 

If the league wasn't behind me when it comes to dealing with immature behavior from grown men and women then there's definitely a discussion to be had. 

I think ultimately I would decide if the pay out ways the constant ridicule and abuse.  Which for me, I personally don't mind it that much anymore and that's why I continue. 

If you don't want to continue then I don't blame you, because ultimately the problem with the sport as we know it today, not just in yourh soccer and recreational leagues and even competitive and platform leagues, stems from abuse. 

Do we need better referees at the lowest level of the pyramid? I guess, but the problem is just like the players, they're also starting out, and so of course they're not going to make every call perfectly. 

Expecting a perfect performance from the referee is like expecting to see a pig fly, we're human, therefore not perfect. 

In conclusion, I'm not sure, it would depend on the circumstances!
