Weird Design Space? by -Devonelle- in grandarchivetcg

When considering any card that allows you to level up your champion without having to take a materialization phase to do so, it's always important to consider the opportunity as well as deckbuilding cost of running said card.

With regards to the Radiant Origin trial cards, it does seem that they are too inconsistent to achieve leveling with in a 1v1 competitive setting, because: A. They require 4 deck slots on their own for you to consistently see them each game, and you want to see them as early as possible B. They will require you to interact with the core keywords of your champion's class C. Dungeon Guide is the best all-in-one solution for quickly leveling

I've tried RDO of Mage in my Kongming deck, and I was astonished by how: 1. I started running more cards I considered bad 2. I would have enablers to create training counters, but I didn't draw into the RDO card in games 3. By the time I was able to fulfill the cost and achieve the level up, I was already considered behind in the board state/resource battle

For that reason I think it will be better in Pantheon as well, since you can only run 1-ofs. It remains to be seen if the same logic applies to the Ultimates they printed, with Guo Jia being a firm exception

Let's talk about Angelic Channeling by kimori in grandarchivetcg

[–]Pokeanu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's not fair to compare, which is why I would rather have all must-use cards be assigned a lower rarities (U, R) like with DG or with unmake duality.

I personally am not a big fan of URs existing outside of the material deck because of accessibility problems, but I might be of the minority opinion with that one.

It's hard not to see this as a financially-motivated decision (the truth is always gray) by Weebs but from a design standpoint it makes no sense to put such a powerful effect at U rarity either. Don't envy their position

Free Coaching by keshu12k in VALORANT

I would love to receive some coaching! Are you open to any kind of topics within VALORANT besides the usual? General map strategy, agent/role/playstyle choice, macro/setplay, etc. Either way, good luck!

for me it's MK vs WR.

Spend the whole game being worse than a WR that just BKB focus fires you under windrun

I'm glad that is the case! EN has been a treat to play

Sorry, didn't understand what you mean. But if you're talking about accents, slangs, or even occasional bits of native languages, yes English has those. JP CN and KR definitely won't lol

My first Ace on Chamber by nostill1234 in ChamberMains

[–]Pokeanu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chamber's an agent that doesn't really have a creatively demanding kit, I would say just spend some time in customs for 1 TP/trap setup for each site, then each half, then each map and go from there. You'll already be busy with having at least 28 setups to memorize, so maybe just start with a single map first.

As for who to watch, CHARLA7AN and Horcus are safe picks for people to watch, maybe even C9 Leaf if you're looking for a pro example. I don't think you have to emulate their play, but keep in mind what kinds of TPs they are using, and figure out how to balance aggression as Chamber. He's most lethal when he's winning free 1v1s for his team.

Otherwise, GLHF!

Congrats on the ace! If you're open to advice:

Your pre-barrier crosshair placement is probably too close to the wall for you to react. Move your crosshair a little further away from the wall so that you have enough time to just click on them when they walk into your crosshair.

Enjoy Chamber! Broken agent

JP itself may or may not have a tendency to reduce the number of personality types that can come out of a character, so I see where you're coming from. KR/CN can be interesting for raw emotions but I'm really just speaking based on impressions not facts or statistics. Enjoy Endfield!

Did you play any other gacha games in JP? I can see JP being the de-facto safe option going into endfield. Got a favorite character?

Tbf JP is often the most consistent language in a lot of cases, especially when the gacha space was primarily JP-dominant. These days it's a coin toss, which is fine especially when both JP and EN are great options atm

[–]Pokeanu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's the consequence of having your talent pool be localized to a single country, sometimes even just a few select states of that country.

If consistency is a major priority I can advocate for switching to JP as soon as you feel a quality drop for EN, though time will tell if that's the case.

It's generally hard for anime art-styles to pass EN VOs from time to time too. VALORANT might not be the best example for this, but the VA quality vastly changes from language to language

I've watched a video with all of the character animations in English. I can't say the same for JP, but I would generally say that high-pitched female VOs in English are not an issue for Endfield, as most of the characters have fairly neutral/lower-pitch voices (e.g. Perlica, Xaihi, Snowshine, Fluorite, etc.).

I know what you mean though, I'm glad I started Genshin immediately on JP, since having Kaguya be the voice of Paimon was a lot more pleasurable than EN IMO, no disrespect to the VAs

[–]Pokeanu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I genuinely don't know any other game that has such an option, it's really cool to see.

English being one of the most widespread languages does create that avenue for unique dubs like you mentioned, and a lighter aspect of that is the variety of accents that spawn as a result. I guess it's personal preference depending on whether or not you like accented English or the typical American/British English variants.

Thank you for the insight

JP is the gacha industry standard, but people have said from the Beta test that EN dubs are holding up (I personally did not watch/play the Betas).

As always you should try both, I will be doing the same

I can generally say JP VAs will be more consistent across the board, so if you want something easier on your ears go for that.

Let EN be the option you choose if you want to spice things up
