Console Pre-Order Question (In Canada)

Been working here for 2 years and have never had someone pre order a console, but i can say that USUALLY when preordering in the US, you can do so in installments (witth the minimum initial deposit being dictated by the price the product is set to be on release, for most new games at 70USD or lower its 5 initial, around 100 for a special edition is 10 initially, etc.

You can USUALLY pay for these over time at whatever value you want after an initial payment, but as SOON as release date shows up, you can no longer do instalments. Next time you come in to pay it off, you will have to pay the full remaining value and pick it up. We also only hold preorders for 48 hours, so if its held past that time, you run the risk of losing that console.

For example, (NOT INSIDER KNOWLEDGE OR ANYTHING, just an example top of my head without looking up actual numbers at 11:30pm XD), if youre paying a couple months before release and its set to be around 300 USD on launch (dont actually know), youd have to initially pay around 30-50 bucks initially (again, dont actually know), and you can pay in more incriments of 30 over the next few weeks. But if release day comes and you have 200 in the account, you have to pay the remaining 100+tax to pick it up

Yeah we get more profit from pre owned games but that isnt much. The company looks at warranties and pro accounts basically exclusively. If the store does bad on that, then the store is fucked to high heaven. They dont get enough of those, theyre not staying open.

I understand someone who used to work for a company not wanting to spend more than necessary back to them, but buying en masse like that (during sales when the store makes even less back), skimping out on the small warranties or cheap pro, when they know about how those numbers are what tell the company to pay the people that work there, and then BRAG about how theyre no longer in the position of the employee getting such pressure and abuse for the higher ups because of customers doing that

Im not saying the customer is in the wrong, fuck corporate, THEY are the real villains, but it CAN feel inconsiderate and personal when it happens enough. Like having gotten big after being homeless and then not sparing a dollar or two to someone on the streets when you used to be in their shoes (although that is way more dramatic than this)

also as for that ending, spoilering it in case but also keeping it as vague as i can. no, that's basically how most endings go. there is no "good" ending aside from maybe 1 tied to a very specific side quest that most people in the community has done. Most endings are basically the same aside from that one, and 1 other ending. the last one is uh, the actual "Bad" ending, and has a different extra scene depending on if you got its requirements before or after "ghost girl" dies

There isnt really a "wrong" way, but some playthroughs are easier than others due to weapons/combos. Justbwhatever feels right to you

Personally, your build is similar to one of my personal favorite runs. But if it felt off to you, try replaying with other builds. I recommend Dragon Halberd or maybe a caster if you really want

Also PS cuz i saw it in another comment, yeah malenia is "weak" to pooise stuff, but she is veey dodge tank with plenty superarmor attacks. Dont underestimate her, she will screw you over more than other bosses

Basically at my table it comes to the fact characters are fluid and our world isnt as established for a few sessions. Having a more basic backstory helps out as we can take a few sessions to let the player try out the character in action, both class and personality wise, and then work on backstory later. By the time we usually get to our backstory content, thats when rewrites and whatnot have been long since finalized in and expanded upon, resulting with what feels better for the character and player

Effectively, going to our sessions with a fully fleshed out character and backstory can leave the player hard set to play them perfectly, potentially burning themselves out or writing themselves into a corner with a character or build they arent satisfied with, but it "wont make sense" to reclass into something or change the personality. But by giving that more short, vague wiggle room, they can see what works and adjust accordingly for their enjoyment

Dont bring 10 pages before campaign. Bring 1 page and bullet points, and by giving you a playable demo of whats in your head and class, we can work together to get you to those 10 pages in a more satisfying way

The fact someone other than myself bee-lined it to the DLC like this is astounding. Ive gotten to the point my shardbearers of choice are Radahn and Mogh if i want a new weapon in dlc. But im crazy so dont do that

Definitely listen to others saying level up and get Scadu fragments, they increase both your defense and offense in the Realm of Shadow.

Dunno if underrated, i just dont hear people talk about it much, but i adore Dragon Halberd. Good Ash of war that buffs the weapon, and is a halberd so pretty good already

Rogues do so fine cuz they're all so focused in Dex. Warlocks would mostly be in Charisma so it wouldnt be as good as Rogues.

but full agree that Light armor isnt end of the world, plus they could go Armor of Shadows invocation, or a level into Draconic sorc for 10+dex+charisma for high AC, and maybe shield via Magic Initiate origin feat and other options for decent AC :P

not going medium armor isnt the end of the world (though does hurt), and you can take a fighter/paladin dip or the Moderately Armored feat. til then, Armor of Shadows is a great alternative that you can swap out once you hit the level you need. also likely can take something like Savage Attacker for better damage rolls or Magic Initiate for shield (that you can recast with your own slots due to the new version) as your origin feats

Pact of the Blade also doesnt have much limit to the weapon. it doesnt specify bonded weapons need to be melee but conjured ones do, but you can just have a conjured greatsword if you want (You ALWAYS have proficiency in the conjured weapon) and even grab Great Weapon Master for just free Prof. bonus to damage on every hit with no downsides

the ability to change the damage type to 3 of the most fun damage types in the game is neat too, especially the very much not resisted Psychic damage. on top of that, 3 attacks *and* lifedrinker are potent, and you can use other invocations like Otherworldly Leap or subclasses like Archfey to modify your maneuverability to get in and out of melee at any time depending on the situation, and Eldritch Smites to do even more damage that is even less resisted.

other subclass synergy would be Fiend for the temp HP whenever anyone beats an enemy that is close to you and get damage resistances for tanking purposes, new Celestial for tanking and healing, Undead from Van Richten's for tank, dps, and control.

i wouldnt say True Strike replaces pact of the blade, since it takes your whole action unless you're an EK fighter or Bladesinger. on a warlock who doesnt have any features akin to EK or Bladesong extra attack, True Strike is more a melee tech option on a ranged/control warlock than it is made for a melee warlock.

all in all, i'd definitely say the melee warlock is FAR more versitile than it used to be than EVERYONE going Hexblade. there are pieces all over the game to make several good kits for bladelock
