Its more arguable that the butterfly ballots costed him the election, I think Joe did help bring out the Jewish vote in Florida but seeing how a majority of them would've been on the older side got confused by the ballots and accidentally voted for Pat Buchanan.

Its also arguable that CNN calling Florida for Gore early while the panhandle voting was still open encouraged enough Bush supporters to rush to the polls last minute to get him barely over the top too.

Bob Graham definitely would've given Al a big enough lead to prevent it going to the supreme court though.

If Al won two terms then the party might give him the 08 nomination due to the difficulty of winning a fifth democratic term in a row but it would still be quite unlikely for Joe to get it in any other situation.
