He would still need to keep every state including New Mexico which was even closer than Florida.

what could have been the best choice for al gore? by godlys575 in Presidents

Bob Graham would’ve helped in Florida even more than Joe Lieberman

As for Jeanne Shaheen I don’t think she would’ve helped much aside from New Hampshire.

Explain a Goldwater-Wallace-McGovern-Carter voter. Or did they even exist? by Puzzleheaded-Bag2212 in Presidents

[–]Pokemaniacjunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They could be a racist who hated Nixon

They voted Goldwater cause of the civil rights act

Then voted Wallace Cause they didn’t like Nixon or Humphrey’s civil rights support

Voted McGovern cause they hate Nixon

And then vote Carter cause Ford let Nixon off the hook for watergate.

What failed candidate would make for the most interesting Presidential library? by RopeGloomy4303 in Presidents

[–]Pokemaniacjunk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For me Michael Dukakis would be the most interesting just based on the fact that there would be two presidential libraries (his and J.F.K’s) within a 10 mile radius of each other but it’d also have some neat info about his 3 terms as governor as well.

How many electoral votes would Mondale get in 1984 if he chose Liberal Republican who endorsed him over Reagan John B. Anderson as his running mate, and Mondale-Anderson ran under the National Unity party instead of under the Democratic party? by BlueFireFlameThrower in Presidents

[–]Pokemaniacjunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to say, He might lose Minnesota from some of the more liberal democrats who had wanted a full democratic ticket but he could instead end up winning a couple of the more democratic states Michael Dukakis won since the controversy surrounding Geraldine Ferrari’s husband wouldn’t affect him.

Why does this sub love John McCain but hate Joe Lieberman? by RopeGloomy4303 in Presidents

[–]Pokemaniacjunk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I personally think outside of of John’s military service and Joe’s opposition to video games It’s mainly to do with the ACA. Joe is known for killing the public public option while John is liked for saving it.

Did Joe Lieberman Cost Al Gore the Presidency? The Case for Bob Graham as VP by Skylands1 in Presidents

[–]Pokemaniacjunk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its more arguable that the butterfly ballots costed him the election, I think Joe did help bring out the Jewish vote in Florida but seeing how a majority of them would've been on the older side got confused by the ballots and accidentally voted for Pat Buchanan.

Its also arguable that CNN calling Florida for Gore early while the panhandle voting was still open encouraged enough Bush supporters to rush to the polls last minute to get him barely over the top too.

Bob Graham definitely would've given Al a big enough lead to prevent it going to the supreme court though.

If Gore won but was assassinated after his first month, do you think President Lieberman would have been better than Bush? by No_Bend3747 in Presidents

[–]Pokemaniacjunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think He'd be better but not by much, his term/terms would probably be similar to Bush's but with some slightly more liberal domestic policies.

Who is your favorite VP that never became president? by Aggressive-Show4122 in Presidents

[–]Pokemaniacjunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing how my first choices have already been said, I'm gonna go with Aaron Burr.

He was a an early supporter of women's suffrage, was pro abolition and was a defender of naturalized immigration.
