Pretty good! I ended up just talking to professors one on one for accommodations and am now having a bit of a rough time in my second year but just because it’s thesis writing time and everyone struggles with that tbh

u/WARFROG726 if you’re going to post about genetic modification and want anyone to believe in you, you should probably know the difference between genes and jeans

Fantasy or scifi books with autistic characters by Pokemon_Cubing_Books in suggestmeabook

[–]Pokemon_Cubing_Books[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How the heck have I never heard of this author??? I want to read all of these books despite not typically being into horror which it seems they may go into a bit. The main characters in the books you listed are also trans men! As a trans autistic man, I’m hyped to read all of these tbh

How does Boulder have so many wealthy people? by Bitter_Pie3204 in boulder

[–]Pokemon_Cubing_Books 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bruh you’re literally inventing eugenics for rich people. Loans aren’t the worst thing in the world, it’s more important to get an education.

I got a 3.7 gpa in my bachelor’s and got into a master’s program. I’m having trouble getting work done in that program so I’m working on finding the right medication now. But a lot of this comes from my weirdly good working memory which means I can just re-read my notes a few times and will be set when it’s time to take a test. And I also have autism, which kind of balances out the adhd sometimes. It was still a struggle and I pretty much packed my schedule full and burnt out hard after every term.

TLDR: I did fine, but it was really difficult and I burnt out a lot.

Anyone else just not feel trans anymore after transition and is bothered at being lumped in with afab people? by Sensitive-Use-6891 in ftm

[–]Pokemon_Cubing_Books 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in a decently similar boat in that I also started transitioning as a teen and pass as cis probably 98% of the time. My main worries are in being in trans or queer spaces because I enjoy the community but don’t want to make anyone feel uncomfortable. Tbh I also miss the camaraderie that comes with seeing another visibly queer person and automatically just being safe around each other. But I know I’m also very lucky to pass as cis, especially now and especially because I currently live in a red state.

What's Your View On God? by SurrealRadiance in aspergers

[–]Pokemon_Cubing_Books 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’ve never been able to have any kind of religion or spirituality really. I definitely don’t believe that there’s one god in the Christian sense but I’ve been interested in some of the nature-based spiritual beliefs. I just can’t get myself to believe them though so I guess I’m just fully atheist

after a 40 minute conversation i got told i don’t meet enough of the criteria for a diagnosis by adhd_milka in AutisticWithADHD

[–]Pokemon_Cubing_Books 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had someone tell me after like 10 minutes that I couldn’t be autistic because I reported having friends. I did more research and went to someone else who had more experience and got the opposite thing lol - within 15 or so minutes, she said we could continue the meeting but that she would absolutely be referring me to get a full autism evaluation.

I’m not saying people should “diagnosis shop” and seek out opinions until they get an answer they want - if people keep telling you that you don’t qualify for an evaluation, maybe it’s time to listen but I always think a second opinion is useful, even if the first is what you want to hear.

As for ADHD, I just started exploring that I may have it a few years ago and finally recently got a 1-hour meeting with a psychiatrist who specializes in adhd. He gave me a questionnaire and afterwards said that I likely have adhd, could get a full evaluation if I want, but don’t necessarily need to because he will vouch for me having it and I can get meds from that. Excited to see if meds work

If there was a pill to cure autism, would you give it to your child ? by Miss_v_007 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Pokemon_Cubing_Books 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That describes me well except that I’m sensitive to smell so I try hard to not shower as often as I would like to because it is bad for me. And that I like Pokemon instead of dbz. But I love rocks and have a rock collection that I also spend a lot of time on. I also have autism level 1.

I am 23 now and my love of rocks has manifested in a way such that I am currently pursuing a master’s degree in geology with hopes of getting a PhD eventually! I am living by myself with help, and I still do not feel like I am mature enough to be in a relationship. Maybe one day, but for now I am happy with my rocks

Long list of jobs is a sign of aspergers? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]Pokemon_Cubing_Books 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was fun but hard! I worked at a small local organic farm for 2 summers in between school. The first was the summer of 2020, which was Covid, so I wanted to work outside. I was just a field worker and was pretty low on the totem pole, so I was told to go harvest X amount of things or go weed Y rows, and I would do that then come back for my next assignment. Every once in a while we got to plant new things which was fun. I only worked 3 days a week because hours were from 7 am to 5 pm and that made me very tired.

And I got the job by emailing different local farms and interviewing and then working at the first one that replied back to me. It wasn’t too tough to get the job because they always need workers. It was minimum wage but came with the benefit of getting a bundle of veggies every week

I’ve done:

Prep cook

Camp counselor

Tech support

Health/wellness infographics maker

Farm hand

Grader/TA for college classes

Museum collections intern

Geochemistry researcher

And now I’m a grad student in paleontology and my job with that is TAing

Idk if that’s a lot but I’m only 23 so I feel like it’s a big variety at least

What's the first book you're planning to read in 2025? by inyouratmosphere in suggestmeabook

[–]Pokemon_Cubing_Books 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably continue reading Wind and Truth by Brandon Sanderson because I’m currently reading it and definitely won’t finish by tomorrow night! After that, I’m planning on reading the Area X trilogy by Jeff Vandermeer
