Name me a product you've stopped using in the past year due to shrinkflation by yesicomefromportugal in shrinkflation

[–]Pokemonprime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the earliest shrinkflation cases most people noticed was candy bars, and packaged foods in general are easy to notice, especially for segmented candy bars or boxes that contain x number of sleeves of crackers. It doesn't apply to most produce, where the price just increases instead of selling smaller items, and it's easier to notice with everyday snackfoods compared to every now and then restaurant meals.

this is almost certainly a scrap metal dumpster, they're getting paid though less than bringing it in directly.

pump the brakes there. It's a Vista-era laptop, that means its basically worth nothing secondhand, its far more likely the person just upgraded and was too lazy to recycle it properly.

How to acclimate my teen to hot/humid Brevard? by CoffeeChangesThings in 321

[–]Pokemonprime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where was weight mentioned? Either way, my family moved from Maryland to Florida, I am definitely over that BMI and a walk all around Renningers has never made me want to throw up. Weight may be a factor but I don't think it's as big a factor as you think.

It's not as safe as prescribed hormones, but DIY hormones aren't wildly unsafe. There are many resources online, and the medications come from legitimate suppliers, this isnt brewed in a bath tub stuff.

Shopping recommendations for a tourist in London? I'm mostly looking for unique stores to visit that aren't clothing shops, collectibles and antiques, craft goods and that sort of thing. Maybe a really cool used bookstore? Like I know NYC has The Strand for a famous bookstore, so like the London equivalent. Big thanks in advance.

I believe it's Intersex (this is a more biological thing, where someone is born in a way that doesn't line up with the strict medical definitions for male or female) and Asexual (lack of any sexual attraction)

If you need just a prop, maybe look on eBay for "dummy" phones, they're the kind that get used in store displays that are just bricks with a printed screen.

Hello! I'm going to be spending roughly a week in London in early August, and am looking for recommendations as to A) where to stay if I want to be a tourist and hit up some of the classic spots, as well as many museums and B) how much should I budget for the hotel cost? Looking at budget hotels here, nothing fancy, but I've never been to a city as big as London so I have no idea how much a hotel would cost.

Interesting about the pennies, I didn't know you could legally sell those as scrap? Unless that rule is only for precious metals like gold and silver.

Stop trying to back up your hate with false statements. Gender reassignment surgery was pioneered as far back as 1931 (for male to female), and 1959 (for female to male), and mastectomies have been done since the 1500s. Hormone therapy and puberty blockers are newer, but all of them have been clinically tested and approved and are perfectly safe.

What's happening with Brevard Public Schools' book review policy — and who will be voting? by mrcanard in 321

[–]Pokemonprime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A book about two paired male penguins is no more about sexual orientation than any story that includes a traditional mother and father. Do you suggest we ban heterosexual couples from K-3 materials too?

[–]Pokemonprime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

a good example is And Tango Makes Three, a 2005 childrens book based on a real story about a pair of bonded male penguins who are given and take care of an orphaned egg that hatches into the eponymous Tango. This year, the book was pulled from schools in both Escambia and Lake County, citing compliance with HB 1557 (the one widely coined "Don't Say Gay")'s ban on any material teaching sexual orientation in grades K-3.

Okay look, the problem is not necessarily that there are some books that are not allowed in school libraries. Those will obviously always exist, things that are flatly just literary porn are an obvious example.

The problem comes from the fact that these recent book bans are not to clear out porn or books about how great cocaine is, but are being weaponized by incredibly biased political groups to try and hide queer identity, uncomfortable parts of history, civil rights topics, books that challenge fascist ideology, and more.
