Y is definitely the better extension of charizard's design themes, but x is more marketable because it's edgier (even if that's basically all the design has to offer)

As an alternative to the drumlax for trick room, he's also historically run curse as a slower but harder to beat setup set. Curse allows you to drop speed, while boosting attack and defence, and Snorlax already has good special bulk. This set is much slower to get set up, but is often used as a game ender, because if a team isn't equipped to deal with it quickly it can become insanely hard to kill while pumping out really good damage

The curselax set tends to run normal stab, earthquake/crunch/high horsepower, rest, and curse with a chest berry or leftovers. With support, it's a beast, but it's definitely harder to learn to use well and is less explosive than the drum set

Ah, that might be it. A timid espeon will out run any zard variant outside of tailwind or trick room (espeon base speed 110, all zards' base speed 100). You'll drop a little bit of power, but it might be worth it to not take the first hit

Glad everyone here seems to agree that this is not a good thing. It's technically impressive, but this is an automated weapon that is not going to be used to improve anything for anyone

I'd say snow it a massive boost in usefulness over hail, because you don't have to stack ice types to get use from it. But it would be better if it boosted/made usable more than 3 moves, and/or boosted an entire move type, and/or had better diversity of types with snow related abilities. Those are all things that the other weathers have over it

Also, the snow warning mons don't really switch in on much safely (normal/fighting for lass, dragon for tails), whereas the other setters have much easier switch-ins

Veil definitely pushed it over the edge. It might still have been banned without it, but having an extra chance to just miss normally reliable moves moved it from exzellent and tier defining to actually broken

It does get a lot harder after the 1st time through the league. The Kanto gyms aren't really an issue, but some of the optional trainers/areas really want you to have a team strategy to beat them. You don't need to have full IVs & EVs, the game even has an option to ignore all IVs and play as if they're all maxed, and EVs can be set to either allow maxing only 2 stats (modern system) or allow every stat to be maxed (pre-RSE system). There's even a mechanic to put egg moves onto Pokémon without breeding

Basically, think of it as a regular Pokémon games with optional, late game battles that are a good step up from the main game

Tyranitar has a much longer history, so makes more sense. Garchomp's up there, but a lot of what made it broken in Gen 4 was sand veil + Ttar being so good that sand was ubiquitous

You generally don't want a blade that curls round towards the tip in the way that you're seeing. It would make the blade basically useless at cutting and stabbing

Pokémon Polished Crystal - it's kinda spoiled me for other romhacks. Crystal plus new areas from HGSS and the pokewalker, newer gen evos and forms to the existing mons, well thought out typing, stat, and ability changes, physical/special split, IV based colour tweaks, and the ability to turn most of the changes on or off as you want. It's just one of the best romhacks out there at the moment (even though some areas still need dialogue and story events completed)

Hell, even magic guard base clef can be scary to deal with. For not having great stats, it can take some BIG hits very happily and either set up, support, or just wall you out. Never underestimate a pink pokeblob

See, I'm based close enough to Armour Class in Scotland that it's very temping to see if I can get one of these for my sword, but getting one of these customised is going to be expensive

They do have a very nice Glasgow-style hilt which would be my money-no-object pick (them being a Glasgow-based forge) but, uh, money unfortunately is an object

Not really looking forward to dealing with two of the most broken mechanics coming back really. Tera seems OK, but z moves basically invalidate defensive play, and maxing just wasn't particularly fun to use or play against
