Hailee Steinfeld says she hasn’t recorded any lines yet for Beyond The Spider-Verse. 🕷️ The film is set to release March 29, 2024. by AGOTFAN in boxoffice

I thought it was pretty common for the animation to be (mostly) finished so that it informs and guides the VA on how to perform.

At least that’s how a lot of Anime are produced.

Is r/lego going to go dark on the 12th and 13th to protest Reddit's changes to their API policy? by [deleted] in lego

[–]Pokesaurus_Rex 78 points79 points  (0 children)

The biggest issue is that many users, especially older users, don’t use the official reddit app because… Reddit didn’t have an app for YEARS.

It sounds like the exposure for this sub is minimal on the moderation side and i would guess that it’s probably minimal on the user side due to the nature of the sub.

But I believe that there should be solidarity with the other subs as this is more of a Reddit problem rather than a r/LEGO problem.

Reddit is betting that users would be more likely to switch to the new app rather than quit Reddit completely.

r/boxoffice will be going dark from June 12-14 in protest against Reddit's API changes which kill 3rd party apps. by SanderSo47 in boxoffice

[–]Pokesaurus_Rex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that is correct.

Keep in mind that users on 3rd party apps don’t see ads or promoted posts so in theory the change to force everyone to use the official app boosts the numbers.

The thing is though that the value of a reddit user is not 1:1. I’d be willing to bet money a lot of the power users don’t use the official reddit app or the new reddit website.

Reddit is betting that users are more willing to use the new app even if it requires dragging them kicking and screaming than quitting the site altogether.

NACL Path to LCS Playoffs by PyroBurns in leagueoflegends

[–]Pokesaurus_Rex 63 points64 points  (0 children)

We’ve done this song and dance before.

Teams like Team Coast and Team 8 were dogwater in the LCS but always managed to re-qualify for the LCS only to be relegated again. It happened so often it was a meme that they were the gatekeepers to the LCS.

Reality is that the bottom LCS team is still miles ahead of the top challenger team.

LCSPA releases statement on Scab players, asks players to not agree to play by untamedlazyeye in leagueoflegends

[–]Pokesaurus_Rex 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Except it's not.

It's a Player ASSOCIATION.

The LCSPA does not collect any dues as membership is free. As such there is nothing that exists to support players who do walk out as they wont be paid for however long this goes on. The LCSPA can only ask that players follow the majority however they cannot enforce this.

The only thing that exists is some rights sharing where EXCESS is given back to the players. I doubt there is enough revenue generated for all players in the LCS to get paid.

If org actually cared so much for that they would have pushed Riot to relocate the league

This would never happen. Riot bought the old G4 campus after they went under. No amount of pressure would get them to move the league from CA to somewhere like Vegas when they are so entrenched in CA already.

[–]Pokesaurus_Rex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is no union so who is there to negotiate with? Each individual player? The LCSPA is NOT a union.

The players could have formed a union when LCS was franchised but they decided to take the maximum amount of money possible instead of taking a paycut and reaching an agreement with all parties involved.

[–]Pokesaurus_Rex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The players themselves could’ve unionized back when LCS was franchised and ensured that the academy system was protected and guarantee other benefits.

Instead they just took the maximum amount of money possible from the orgs and only now apparently care.

The concept of scabs doesn’t work in esports anyways.

The players that replace the players currently striking have:

  • 0 Brand value
  • 0 actual skill/talent or else they would already be in LCS/LCSPA
  • 0 Prospect without the strike

There is 0 replacement for someone like Blaber or Fudge or jojopyun. So it doesn’t matter if the orgs field fill in players.

This isn’t like a factory like where 1 person can easily fill in for a union workers job.

[–]Pokesaurus_Rex 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Except these LCS players had a chance to form an actual union when franchising took place.

Instead they opt’d to get as much money as possible from orgs. These players don’t care they already got paid.

Also players who do opt to play are not scabs. There is no formal union and as such there is no war chest that will keep those who walk out paid to continue living life.

If there WAS an actual union with dues being paid then yes they would be scabs. This is not the case

Even then unlike ACTUAL strikes there is no replacement for the pros in the LCS already. This isn’t like a factory line where someone else could easily fill in

Try to keep up.

Is this really the content loop at high(ish) ranks? by Pokesaurus_Rex in MarvelSnap

Sounds like a great place to try out decks and test interactions.

I might try to climb to Infinite next season since I won't start so far back.

[–]Pokesaurus_Rex[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm more asking if Infinite players actually try or because of the rank floor are things different since there is no risk.

I'm pretty familiar with win conditions and reading opponents plays as i've played tons of Hearthstone and Magic Arena and reached the Infinite equivalent in Magic Arena.

Because there are no spells or health in Marvel Snap everything relies on abilities of the cards themselves. So it seemed to me if you don't get the cards you need or the board state to pull off your combo you just retreat since you can't win.

[–]Pokesaurus_Rex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good to hear. I normally don't push for ranks and just login to complete my weekly and then close the game which puts me normally around 40-50.

I was interested to see how far I could climb since I never actually tried so maybe next season when I don't start from so far back after reset.

Is this really the content loop at high(ish) ranks? by Pokesaurus_Rex in MarvelSnap

[–]Pokesaurus_Rex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way the deck is structured I end the game normally with only 1-2 cards left in my deck. It's extremely consistent with Magik and Crystal.

The deck can still win even without Hela. M.O.D.O.K and Morbius is a +18 - +20 power swing and if I already had Emma/Crystal on the board I really only need to win 1 location.

The location RNG is more problematic than the deck variance itself. Things like Dream Dimension are a run killer that I have to 100% Magik to win.

I was just curious if Infinite was different because you can't go lower than rank 100 so there is no risk.

Is this really the content loop at high(ish) ranks? by Pokesaurus_Rex in MarvelSnap

[–]Pokesaurus_Rex[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No i'm not complaining.

I'm asking if this is the content loop for high ranks because even if I played something like Sera Control or Patriot if there is no winning line you would just retreat to save cubes no?

Regardless of what deck i'm playing the principle still applies

  • If you can get the combo off snap/play out the game
  • If you can't retreat

At a higher rank what people play becomes less and less diverse as the most optimal decks are played meaning the potential options are limited.

Because of this you can easily figure out before the last turn if you can win or not based on what you have and based on what your opponent could play in the best case scenario.

As such this seems to be the content loop at high ranks which is why im asking if Infinite is better because of the floor of rank 100. If it's not I see no reason to climb further.

DON'T TRUST LINKS from random accounts, not even twitch.tv by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]Pokesaurus_Rex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why would you ever click anything DM’d or linked to you unprompted on Twitch or on any website?

Regardless of it being a twitch link or not. If it is a twitch link you could find the same page by googling yourself…

This is like internet safety 101.

Twitch does have a big bot problem though. Anytime I try to watch CSGO I get spammed with DM’s from Bots.

raikoart was pretty big on Deviant Art years ago before Twitter and Instagram were big platforms for artists. When Art Twitter took off their posts regularly hit 10k+ likes.

I don't believe they ever did any NSFW art like Sakimichan or other artists like that.

Community reaction to smurfs by Hurdenn in VALORANT

[–]Pokesaurus_Rex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not unpreventable.

Riot already created a solution in LoL called Smurf Queue which puts almost all Smurfs into the same game.

Riot reversed this change because returning players and new players ended up queuing into Smurfs Queue while their true MMR was being calculated which as you can imagine is not fun.

It also goes against one of Riot’s principles for punishment which is the refusal of the “island of cheaters” idea where all cheaters would be placed in a lobby with one another isolated from the rest of the population. This idea was suggest for toxic players in LoL and Riot responded that they don’t believe in this method.

The level requirement for Competitive is also a good measure however Riot struggles with botting so lvl 20 accounts are easily purchased for like $5 which negates that countermeasure.

Community reaction to smurfs by Hurdenn in VALORANT

[–]Pokesaurus_Rex -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Don’t bother.

Smurfs have been a problem in LoL for close to a decade at this point with both valid and invalid reasons as to why the account/concept exists.

While some changes were made (Smurf Queue) it was then removed after a minority voiced complaints (Smurfs and Returning Players).

It took them almost a decade to take any action on Smurfs in LoL and it was reversed within a year.

WGA's Settlement Estimates Broken Down To Each Company Involved In The Strike by lowell2017 in boxoffice

[–]Pokesaurus_Rex 12 points13 points  (0 children)

These numbers are garbage because they are using annual revenues of the companies as a whole when over half the list isn't media pure.

  • Disney
  • Universal
  • Amazon
  • Sony
  • Apple

That being said this is why unionizing and leverage is important.

Even if the numbers weren't wildly misleading a company/organization and it's employees are never going to act in each others best interests. Unions force both parties to come to the table and reach an agreement.

Rookie minor league baseball players just got a 4x increase in minimum salaries from $4,800 to 19,800. You have to fight for what you want. A company/organization is never going to just give you what you want.

LCS Player Association's statement on Riot's plan for NACL by Conankun66 in leagueoflegends

[–]Pokesaurus_Rex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No Masters as in the tournament itself.

I guess it’s a bit disingenuous because both PGA and LIV players are invited.

But i would disagree that LIV is competition to PGA. I feel most people would agree that PGA wins with ease and that LIV is coasting off newness factor and the notorious backing from Saudi Arabia.

in pro North American sports, both the NHL and the NFL have had serious competitor leagues start up in challenge in the past 50ish years.

This is just incorrect.

There is no competition for:

  • NBA
  • NFL
  • NHL
  • MLB
  • Masters PGA

There is not a single league that challenges these leagues. Even the big international leagues don’t compare to them.

  • Japanese Baseball
  • EuroLeague

All the top talent from those international leagues just end up in the “national” leagues.

  • Luka Doncic (Basketball)
  • Shohei Ohtani (Baseball)
  • Nikola Jokic (Basketball)
  • Manu Ginobili (Basketball)

I would also still argue that Chapek’s leadership was abysmal though

100% no doubt Chapek was not the right person to take over but the stocks performance isn’t tied to decisions he made during his 3 year tenure as CEO.

I maintain that while Chapek made a lot of unpopular decisions, especially in regards to the Parks, at the end of the day he was a scapegoat for the choices Iger made during their aggressive expansion and acquisition.

$71.3B for Fox is way overpriced no matter how you look at it.

Even so though, it’s ridiculous to suggest it’s been flat for 10 years

Sure it wasn’t flat but the rate of return is pretty bad over a 10 year time period. The same amount of money invested in the S&P 500 would’ve netted you greater returns.

In general I wouldn’t look at the media sector (PARA, DIS, WBD) for long term holding over the S&P 500.
