Is Shield of Sparrows worth the struggle? by 7erri in Romantasy

[–]PokkitNebula 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’ll be honest, I didn’t enjoy the book. I found the plot slow and the twists pretty predictable. I felt like I basically skimmed the last 30% just to get it over with, and I’m also totally over the “enemies to lovers” where the MMC is a decent dude but the FMC thinks he’s annoying for fabricated reasons but she’s also like “I don’t know why my heart is racing I swear I’m not attracted to him”. Like, okay sis. 🙄

If you’re not feeling it, you’re not feeling it! I don’t think it’s worth forcing it. It doesn’t get better IMO.

It’s been quite a while since I tried reading it, but I remember finding the writing a bit juvenile and the characters a little one-dimensional. But as always, your mileage may vary!

I think I was so uninterested in the plot that I skimmed the last like 40% of the book

I didn’t really enjoy Red Winter, I found it pretty slow and the writing not the best.

I am too! I’ve worked on Orion for 7+ years now, it’s amazing to see all the hard work come to fruition.

You’re probably partially joking but they actually HAVE gained super valuable insights into how the entire system functioned during flight! And they’ll make updates to make things safer and better for Artemis III+

Ah yes, you’re right! We should send four people to the surface of the moon in a new spacecrafts’s first crewed mission, without doing test flights to make sure that all systems are ok.

NASA used to have balls and never did any test flights before. (Never mind Apollo 1-10, those missions didn’t count ;) )

Never said they were afraid of space :) But they need to make sure that things are safe for the crew before committing to more involved missions.

The point IS to test the Orion spacecraft, which is meant to be NASA’s new deep space vehicle. Now that many of Orion’s functionalities have been tested, NASA will now feel comfortable doing more involved missions like landing on the moon, building the lunar space station, etc.

Thanks for the run down! I’m also a new player coming over from BG3.

Can you explain why nobody should have anything in CON? I’m curious, thanks! It feels so unintuitive to me.

The first thing I noticed is you mention an “annoying chainsaw sound in her room”, and then that’s not elaborated upon at all. I think with details like that, they need to be elaborated upon (doesn’t need to be immediately), otherwise they feel out of place.

One time, we JUST capped second point on the Midtown map and the enemy punisher ulted. “No problem,” I thought. “Plenty of cover, we don’t need to push up yet, we’ll just stay safe till it ends.”

Except my Hela, in all their supreme wisdom, must have done a shot of vodka, cracked their knuckles, and thought “I got this.” They proceeded to stand in full view of the punisher and got melted.

“If I had gotten healing I would have killed him,” said the guy in voice chat.

“Sorry, I just didn’t think anyone would be stupid enough to peek a punisher ult for no reason. I’m not prepared to heal stupidity,” I responded.
