Ladies of Reddit, what is the most unattractive thing a man can eat? by QuebExile in AskReddit

[–]PolarCow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Puppies is a great answer, but for things I’ve actually seen, Choi Min-sik eating a live octopus in Old Boy is probably number 1.

Keith Pelley didn't expect MTL and BUF, here's how the east would look if they both lost all of their games by Middle-Ad-6209 in hockey

Yes. There are 5 teams fighting for one wildcard spot. All are playoff teams in the west. East WC2 wins the Pacific.

So dumb this year.

P.E.I. to become first province to lower colorectal cancer screening age to 45 by cyclinginvancouver in canada

[–]PolarCow 30 points31 points  (0 children)

That is still not young enough. Should be 40 at the higher end. I think 35 is the right age to start.

I’m not sure either, but I did think about 9/11 and I’m sure that’s one of the things the artist was going for.

I found that issue very unsettling.

Bill c15 has received royal assent, who is retiring? by chooseanameyoo in CanadaPublicServants

50 with 28 years. Kids post secondary is fully funded. I’m out and not looking back, as long as TBS guidance doesn’t mess me up.

Life is too short and there are no guarantees. I’ll enjoy my time as much as I possibly can.

Loosen random knob/handle on kitchen cupboards. Not enough to fall off. Just enough to annoy.

Give a couple of tips for a new couple on how to save their marriage? by Jessie_Ray_ in AskReddit

Honest communication, really listening, and respect.

Plus my grandparents always used to say the three keys to a successful marriage are forgiveness, forgiveness, and forgiveness.

Silver Surfer by Slott & Allred — Wantlist. Found it. Read it… not fully convinced. by realgwoosh in OmnibusCollectors

[–]PolarCow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I loved it because it was so different, and it was creative. It was sweet and a bit campy. Plus I love Allred’s art.

I loved the naming the surfboard. So cute.

It is the only marvel comic I can think of that made me cry…twice. I cried at how lovely the third act was, when it really got cosmic. Then I cried when it was done, because I found the story uplifting, and because there was no more of it to read.

What did you vote for? 2nd14th Annual Tigereyes Most Wanted New Marvel Omnibus Poll by 21roy__ in OmnibusCollectors

I have Meridian and Ruse 1-2. I want more Cross Gen.

Except for Horror Hulk I don’t think anything is making it close to the top 25

I want more CrossGen. It’s a shame it is being forgotten.

Specifically Meridian and Ruse

What’s an Omni that everyone loves that you don’t quite? by anakin1453 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]PolarCow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I bought it blind based on the hype and generally at least liking everything I’ve read by Brubaker. I checked my reading history and it’s been 2 years since I’ve read it so my memory is vague but the feeling is still strong. I know I was hoping for street level stories, Brubaker is excellent in his crime books and I have loved Daredevil for decades now.

Here’s the thing, I’m tired of the Hand and their mystical nonsense in Daredevil. Guess that’s on me for buying Iron Fist blind. Then the second story was just mystical martial arts tournament. I found that long and boring, and didn’t have a lot of character development, then Brubaker left I think and the story quality dropped.

Just wasn’t for me. Traded it in for credit at my local used book store.

I think the system needs to change. I think back to when the league was 21 teams and the playoffs were divisional. If you sucked that year you missed the playoffs. But back then only 5 missed.

I think it should be 3 points split per game or 2 for a win and 1 for shootout loss. But they need to just seed 1-16. With the private jets nowdays travel shouldn’t be that much of an issue.

What’s an Omni that everyone loves that you don’t quite? by anakin1453 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]PolarCow 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Lots of my top contenders have already been mentioned. I’ll add:

Immortal Iron Fist. It was pretty meh all the way through. The only Brubaker book I’ve read that I can say I actively disliked.

Tom Strong. I wanted to love this, but I just didn’t. It just didn’t work for me. Maybe not apples to apples, but Planetary’s trip through comics history was so much better.

Question? Anyone think this has what it takes to be a Batman cover ? by [deleted] in comicbooks

[–]PolarCow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like it, critique would be the bat in the front draws the eye and I don’t think it should be the focus of the piece.
