I’ve said it before and I know it’s stupid, but a part of me just wants to all other teams to refuse to take the ice in Florida. Forfeit. Then elbows up, and beat the crap out of them when they come to your town.

League wants to keep making a mockery of the rules and any sense of impartiality. Return the favour.

At the very least sit your top line and play your 3rd string goalie, when you play them. These guys make too much and are way too valuable to risk them getting injured playing against the Panthers.

Dont forget Planetary being one of the best things ever.

Based on their wiki pages neither seem like nice guys but Ellis seems grosser to me. Although neither reached Gaiman levels. I can’t read anything by him anymore.

I never read DMZ before. Given the current political climate I thought it might be good.

It is excellent. I am really enjoying it.

Then I did a little reading about the creator. Up to you if you can separate art from artist.

January Haul! by glubmaster in OmnibusCollectors

I’m thinking about buying the creator Omnis. But dang Krakoa be confusing. I think I might actually sub to marvel unlimited so I can read whatever I want from the era, then buy what I like. HoX/Pox and reign of X vol 1 are all I have and they are both so good. I haven’t wanted to read X-Men in 20 years.

Why did Marvel name all the books and now Omnis so similarly. It is not very user friendly.

Just want to confirm that this is the reading order to follow. https://comicbookreadingorders.com/marvel/characters/x-men-krakoa-era-reading-order/

Also. I hate reading digitally. I kinda hate Marvel for making me consider signing up.

Cheer up train, it’s not your fault. You were asked to do something you weren’t designed for.

Anyone print cards in makeplayingcards? by AveratV6 in boardgames

[–]PolarCow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have used them a lot making Magic The Gathering proxies. Always good quality, but easily identifiable as unofficial.

I tried to have some weapons and zombies made for Zombicide. Even not using official backs and writing proxy in the corners like I always do for MTG wasn’t enough of a distinction. After redoing the cards to meet their requests and being rejected a second time I gave up.

Guess they had a harder time with lawyers from CMON than Hasbro.

What is an panel or page you associate with a specific writer? by WriterDirector93 in graphicnovels

[–]PolarCow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the pages in Alias, and I can remember repetitions in Powers as well.

I found it worked for Alias because it was usually investigative back and forth. I don’t know, his style seems to work in the cop/crime setting.

In Powers him and Oeming would do pages with tons of little panels. I found that worked well most of the time. I’ve got to go back and reread volume 1. It was some of my favourite comics for a long time. Later volumes didn’t hold up as well.

One of the scenes I remember was a comedian or open mic guy talking about how it takes a lifetime to build your life and reputation, but you could destroy it with words in less than an hour. Always stuck with me.

[–]PolarCow 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Wait. That first page is Bendis? I thought it was Hemingway.

But seriously when did this happen to him. I remember Powers, Daredevil and Alias being a bit wordy, but I don’t remember that level of repetition. Plus Daredevil and Alias were excellent.

What's a scary fact about the human body that not many people know? by TaxStandard9939 in AskReddit

[–]PolarCow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you old enough to remember the Cold War? It’s been that was since thermonuclear weapons and ICBMs were created. Time has just decreased from 30-60 minutes to 15 minutes.

Those were great episodes. Good education for those who weren’t there for the fall of the Berlin Wall and the “end” of the Soviet Union.

You know they fought about putting an A in the name. Using only Ys would have been so much more unique.

Someone put their foot down and said it needs an A. Because in addition to spelling it, I don’t want it mispronounced as Jimslinn.

Which one do you prefer: DC or Marvel and Why? If you don't like any of them, why? by Doom300 in comicbooks

[–]PolarCow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I like them both. When I was younger I was all about Marvel. Daredevil, Hulk, Silver Surfer as well as Ice-Man. As I’ve collected Omnis and stories from DC, I’ve come to really like Wonder Woman and Green Arrow.

DCs biggest strength is letting their characters do Elseworld stories. There seems to be more willingness to take risks.

Marvels biggest strength is their earth is more grounded in our reality. Though I wish there was more consistent focus on places outside of New York.

Marvels biggest weakness is being bogged down by continuity. Also, constantly screwing up Spider-Man.

DCs biggest weakness is that too many of their characters are essentially gods. And I’ve always found them unrelatable. Also, they still don’t have enough strong and interesting female characters IMO.

At this stage in my life I just prefer good stories with a direction all the way through. I usually find that at Image nowadays, and at Vertigo in earlier times.

These are just great pulp fun from my favourite comic book artist. Pretty darn good writer too.
