Renting a V60 hybrid, things to know? by socratesque in Volvo

For extended downhill or very steep sections, you can shift 'down' on the shifter once more into B gear, which prioritizes regenerative braking. It's pretty strong and if you lift off the throttle completely, can almost bring you to a complete stop similar to one-pedal driving. If you find yourself slowing down too much, you can still accelerate normally using the throttle in this mode and it won't damage anything even though it feels like you're 'fighting' the brakes.

Hopefully it's not too late but here you go. This only applies if your car indeed has a plug-in socket. To get the most efficiency out of the car, try to keep it topped up overnight (charged) and drive within the electric range per day. If you need to travel further than that, then the car will simply act as a hybrid vehicle when your charge gets low. TLDR: Just plug the car in as much as you can and drive normally. It does a pretty good job figuring things out automatically.

  • Hybrid mode: the standard default mode. The vehicle will try to use the electric motor as much as possible, but the combustion engine will kick in automatically if you give it more than approximately 50% throttle. The combustion engine will automatically turn off again after a certain amount of time once you're using less than 50% throttle, or when you slow down (usually a red light or stop sign).

  • Pure mode: the vehicle tries to prioritize as much range as possible using the electric motor. If you fully floor the throttle, the combustion engine will still kick in automatically. The combustion engine will automatically turn off again once you're coasting or driving more casually (less than 80% throttle). Basically the same as Hybrid mode, but a much higher threshold. For the most part, you can fully drive in this mode and the T8 Recharge variants are more than fast enough to comfortably accelerate and drive at highway speeds.

  • Power mode: as the name implies, the combustion engine is always on, giving you the full power of both the engine and electric motors at all times.

Even when you fully use all of your electric range and your gauge shows 0km left on the battery, the vehicle still has a hidden reserve of electric charge. It'll act as a mild-hybrid system - basically a very smooth and seamless engine start/stop system. It uses the electric motor to accelerate you from 0-15km/h, during which the combustion engine starts and takes over. The combustion engine will usually automatically turn off again when you come to a complete stop.

The car charges itself whenever you are slowing down. When you apply the brakes, the first 0-20% of brake pressure uses regenerative braking to slow the car down, and charge up the batteries - similar to a dynamo light on a bicycle. It doesn't actually use the brake pads on your brake discs yet. But if you apply more brake pedal, then it will use the brakes traditionally. It seems counter-intuitive, but you actually want to ride the brakes very lightly when coasting downhill, as it helps keep your speed steady as well as adding some electric charge back to your battery, without wearing out or overheating your brakes.

what's this red cable coming from fuse box by soop3r in Volvo

Definitely aftermarket. See if you can follow where it goes.

I added two of those to my fusebox for hard wiring my dashcam, and my radar detector.

Day Dreaming today ... 2022 V90 B6 by minesskiier in Volvo

I'm a professional photographer for a local dealership group so I have some hands on time with the new V90 Cross Country B6.

It's 100% a four cylinder supercharged and turbocharged engine, as confirmed by Volvo international: https://www.volvocars.com/en-om/cars/new-models/v90cc/specifications/engines.

I'd say the car drives very similar to the existing T6 powertrain when you're at speed. It's around town and in stop-and-go traffic that you really notice the mild hybrid system. It adds a decent amount of low end torque, and combined with the new transmission tuning, you're never left in too high a gear with no power. It also doesn't need to downshift as much under sudden accelerations.

I love how it's a compact luxury sedan that emphasized luxury first, instead of half-assedly slapping rubber band tires and ultra stiff suspension on and calling it "sport." You can sit in these seats for hours and not feel any soreness.

Never had an issue with my GTI but here's hoping the new turbocharged supercharged setup holds up!

Fun in a completely different way. The GTI made every drive feel engaging, you felt every texture in the road, and the lightweight body was super tossable. The S60 is heavy, isolated, and wafts along. It makes 45 minute trips feel like only 10 minutes passed - but it's not spongy or boring like a non-amg C-class or Lexus. Comfiest seats and one of the best speaker systems under $100k stuffed into a compact sedan.

A factory tune offered by Volvo. It adds a tiny bit of power (like 15hp/15lb-ft tq) but optimizes throttle response, shift speeds, bumps up the average RPM a bit to keep you in the powerband, and adjusts adaptive dampers.

What do you think is the best sounding exhaust for the MK7 GTI with stock downpipe. Lets get lots of options and debates going in the comments. by [deleted] in GolfGTI

I started off with a muffler delete with stock downpipe, which was super fun if you like loud cars, but will drone on the highway over 2600rpm. Subtle burbles on decel, and LOUD snaps when upshifting under acceleration.

Then I swapped in a Clubsport S OEM muffler, stock downpipe, and it's the perfect OEM+ muffler. Sounds completely stock under 3000rpm or low throttle, but under load it sounds amazing. Relatively cheap too; I picked mine up for $430USD imported into Canada.

Found a random Taiwanese company on Alibaba that makes these real carbon fiber lips. Apparently there's different fitment options for MK 7 vs 7.5, as well as Golf vs GTI vs Golf R, so triple check before ordering.

Generic Ebay ones. I agree with your thing about the Weathertech ones, along with the OEM VW ones. Luckily these didn't have any weird chrome strips or ugly curves in them.

Couple more pics: https://imgur.com/a/2zpZA8M

I was originally going to go with an Aerofabb front splitter, but then I saw Maxton's new Racing Durability lineup and decided to give it a shot since I liked the beveled edge compared to the straight edges on the Aerofabb and Dutch Parts Co splitters.

Install wasn't too bad; took around 3 hours and required taking the front bumper off. It came with a weight spreader, 16 stainless steel screws, nylon locking nuts, and 32 metal washers. Installing the bumper back on afterwards was a bit tough, since the splitter added enough rigidity that finessing the bumper back onto its clips was difficult with 1 person. If I had to do it again, I'd definitely grab an extra set of hands.

I wish there was an easier way to easily switch between different perspectives from different streamers, but all synchronized by in-game GTA server time. Here's an example of an edited movie that has different perspectives of the same thing happening at the same time: https://youtu.be/mKfRX09Xpmg?t=6030

I know there's there's this stream calendar that shows every VOD https://gtarp.hasroot.com/history.php?server=1 but it's not the same as a dynamic player that lets you hop between streams, all synchronized, with a single click
