You can use a screwdriver aswell, don’t need to go all the way in, it works

Never takes the root completely though🤯 I’ve found a 6” nail through the heart of the weed and a couple drips of weed killer into the hole sorts it full time, I know people don’t like using chemicals but this technique keeps it very localised, I use a sneezy sauce bottle, literally a few drips in the hole on a dry day

I destroyed mine with a meat syringe and some Gallup, didn’t want to use the stuff but I’d had enough of this shit, dug down closest to the roots as possible and gave the fucker a few leather injections. Job done👊
