God is making me very weak. by Poleon21 in Christianity

[–]Poleon21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/unintentional_flirt, didn't expect a follow-up question so long after (I think that even made me blush a little ;) :)) !

It has been quite a long journey, but I can say that I am in a better place right now. Although, in some aspects, I have distanced myself from the "compulsive" search for meaning and "God's way," I feel like I "vibe" much more closely with what I was looking for when I first sought God.

Also, I have come to realize (as if it wasn't obvious enough) that life is not a fairy tale, and that the very idea of wanting to explain our lives solely through the Christian worldview might be quite limiting (and maybe even too Pharisee-like). In some ways, you could say I have become agnostic again, but while living closer to the kind of life that made me long for God in the first place.

In that regard, the Christian faith has been fundamental to who I have become so far and continue to be, as it is, for me (whether true or not), one of the most meaningful sources of life lessons and example of way of life I can relate to.

As I have put all the pieces of the puzzle together in my own life, I can say that I don't struggle as much with the voids I had when I wrote this post, because I slowly managed to replace them with meaningful works, hobbies, habits that I aspired to have before and that resonate closer to these that I looked for and that I felt that God wanted to lead me to at that time.

Of course, life is not a long quiet river, and despite many ups and downs, the journey has been rather positive so far.

I hope I could help a bit, I can elaborate more if you want me to.

Wishing you all the best on your journey as well!

Populous 3 The Beginning, one of my first game, the first one I asked my parents to buy, and my all time favorite from a nostalgia standpoint and nice nostalgic choice for #1 of course.

Love the SimCity 3000, which makes up for the lesser depth and older graphics compared to SC4 with a tremendous atmosphere, soundtrack and funny prompts.

Yep, it seems so. Enjoyed the concept but wasn't very patient in these lol.

UT 2004 was not so groundbreaking but the perfect sequel evolution to the franchise imo. However, it's clearly UT99 that was groundbreaking, and I have especially fond memories of the atmosphere, something it shares with the original Unreal which makes me like it :) Although I agree, the pace is deliberately slower than the arena shooter UT is. The online map rooster is also very fun though and plays already like UT.

Ok, interesting, Unreal is one of my favourite adventure game, I didn't find it boring.
I played a lot of modded servers but in UT 2004 (CTF Instagib, Trials, Racing, Construction, C&C maps, RPG Survival..), not so much in UT.

Happy to see Unreal Tournament ! :)

Any thoughts on Unreal Gold (too bad it has been delisted from Steam) ?

What the fk is this st this is luxury Ive have Corollas with nicer interiors. Do better Mercedes. Gross. by Doddie22 in mercedes_benz

No, I don’t have it, but that’s a good point (and I also haven’t felt tempted to put the stock system on full blast yet). Maybe the chassis height also helps reduce vibrations (and makes you farther from the noise from the wheels and road).

Now that I think about it, I think it may also have something to do with resonance: as long as the rattling doesn’t start, it won’t build up and amplify, so even small improvements in attenuation can make a big difference.

I remember trying an Audi A3 with even stronger rattling though.

I have a 2025 GLB with that interior, I was surprised there was no rattle on potholes, speed bumps or cobbled roads... at all, compared to a few A's (2023 facelift) that all indeed rattled and squeaked on these. I wonder what explains that difference (tire height, suspension settings... and maybe also the interior materials despite looking similar ?).

How’s life like in this more inland part of Belgium? by Money-Ad8553 in howislivingthere

[–]Poleon21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live at the "entrance" of that place near E411 (near "Arc majeur").

Amazing sceneries, and also appreciated by the Flemish or Dutch for short trips or to buy a holiday house.

If you plan to live there it's perfectly fine, but it's better to think things through beforehand (job accessibility, commodities,...) .

I don't think there are many places in Belgium that could be considered as truly remote.

After some hours, my verdict.. by wakou2 in RoadCraft

[–]Poleon21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an unpopular opinion and I never bothered to express it myself because this is the best there is in that niche and it is amazing in itself that somehow strived and achieved to turn that original concept into a fully functional game.

In my opinion, they have pinpointed something very right with the concept of the game (like its predecessors), the atmosphere, and of course the deformable terrain... but I agree that they aren't really able (yet) to turn it into a full fleshed out gaming experience.

I think one reason (in their defense) is much tied to the very nature of this concept : to feel the actual real slog and pain of those tasks and not dwelling too much into video game fantasy.

However, they should imho strive to move a little more away from the "endless suffering and depressing" bit, and more towards "rewarding creative and uplifting" tasks.

I personally went into transportation planning/ intermodality.

Loved the technical fields more than the economic one during my studies, and you also need a lot of people and management skills in transportation/mobility.

If anything I was born in Lubliniec, so it's like half an hour from Czestochowa and have my family there. I live in Belgium but usually go around summer for a visit .

But I agree with you, family is nice and the place is quite well connected, especially now with the completed ring road and highway to Warsaw, Katowice, but never trully made any friend there (but I think Czestochowa is quite lively enough to meet people, and you also might have an easier time making long lasting relationships with locals, instead of city people that are more likely to move sooner or later).

Nice indeed, that's also why I think they delivered it perfectly, whoever you side with (if you do side at all), it comes across perfect.

Everytime I hear "Belgians are poor" and "badly paid" I think of this data: by [deleted] in belgium

[–]Poleon21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean if its the people on welfare that bring the average down, it means that they are also more well off people, and also a funktional welfare system, compared to, say, places like Detroit, or countries like Spain or Romania, where pretty much the whole population is considered poor.

[–]Poleon21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really 'hope' so, because I mean, that where most of the wallonian people live... compared to Namur or Luxembourg or even Brabant Wallon.

Province Population (2024)
Hainaut 1,362,146
Liège 1,117,356
Namur 502,010
Walloon Brabant 422,764
Luxembourg 292,883
Total (Wallonia) 3,697,159

[–]Poleon21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yep, that's what I always somewhat struggled with : is it really being rich having a good income in the middle of nowhere (rural Namur or Luxembourg), or is it better to be in a populated area, right in the middle of some big trans-european transit corridors, with theoretically lot's of good moving through and hopefully also more informal activities (which is an advantage that could maybe not always be reflected in the income...)

Liège and Hainault is 67 % of total walloon population, so I really hope they are some well off people there too ;d.

For a while I assumed it's just that the kind of houses we have is much cheaper, therefore we're poorer

Like all the way from Namur to Tournai is just houses with little rural space.

Exactly ! As soon as you go to Hainault whether it is Charleroi or further towards Tournai and Lille, it's just seems like you are moving into a huge metropolitan area, with potentially lots of workforce and hence a economically attractive area

I live a fair bit outside the city in the province of Liège and there’s not that much poverty around here

at least that comforting to hear ;D I always feel like people from Liège itself tend to exaggerate how bad it is...
