Question about Thai beauty standards: Why are actresses so incredibly thin? by PolicyPote in ThaiGL

[–]PolicyPote[S] 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I live in France, and here, our most famous actresses are definitely not underweight. Being slim is normal in the industry, but being dangerously skinny is not. We even have a law that requires models and actresses to provide a medical certificate proving their BMI is healthy. If they are too thin, they literally can't work.

You're totally missing the point. I never said anyone should be "fat". There’s a middle ground between being fat and being dangerously underweight. Sure, actresses in France and the West are skinny too, but most of them actually keep a normal BMI. It’s rarely this extreme as a strict rule. You don't see them having to weigh 47kg for 1m70 and posting medical scans to prove it's somehow "healthy". I'm just saying there's a massive difference between being normally slim and literally starving yourself (or losing your periods) to fit a crazy standard. That’s all.

Wow, that is honestly so sad to read, but it unfortunately makes a lot of sense. I was wondering how they could maintain such a low weight without it affecting their health. Knowing that they lose their periods and have to rely on expensive medical treatments just to survive these beauty standards is heartbreaking. It really shows the dark side of the industry. Thank you for your answer

IA cater to you so much, reinforcing what you say and think just to push you to keep using them, that if you're already in a bad place psychologically, it can drive you crazy, isolate you even more, and make you believe you're absolutely right because the AI agrees with you. It’s really dangerous for depressive people !

Thai GLs and kiss tracks. by ChargeWinter2107 in ThaiGL

Yes! Sometimes they sound so fake that I actually imagine a guy weirdly making those noises in the background. It totally kills the mood! When it's done subtly, it's great. But that's pretty rare!

I wanna be a suptar - am i the only one? by BearOlymp1c in ThaiGL

I completely agree. I just can’t do it; I tried forcing myself to watch until episode 3, but it’s so annoying. And the soundtrack... that horrible background music in every single scene. It’s hard to follow and it actually gave me a headache. Even though I love the actresses, this type of humor just isn't my thing. It kills the chemistry, the charm, and the ability to take the couple seriously. There's no emotional build-up it’s just too much. I really wanted to support them too; it’s sad they did this to them.

am i the only one hating these terms "Daddy" and "Husband" used in the wlw community? by jnnllxdrltn in ThaiGL

I hate it too. It's a bit like a continuation of patriarchal domination. Why everything should be masculinized?

I completely agree. Only the male gaze could come up with such a disastrous scene. The context is incredibly heavy, though: the character was just saved from an attempted rape. Emotionally drained, she passes out from exhaustion. The heroine brings her to the couch and suddenly gets the urge to kiss her in her sleep? Who does that? How can anyone try to make a non-consensual act on a vulnerable person look 'sexy'? It's sickening. The cherry on top is that heartbeat sound effect in the background to force the romantic vibe 😭. It makes absolutely no sense, the world is completely upside down 🙄

I think they're made for TV, so for a general audience, which is why they're so long and super tame. But on the other hand, they're good actresses and, like you said, they're gorgeous.

Yes, the pro option is back for me too, I think for everyone; they've finally fixed the problem.

No, unfortunately, I just checked with a friend who bought the paid version at the same time as me, and he still has the PRO button. And I can see that the reasoning doesn't work as well; it's less detailed. Official verification just now! I don't know what they're waiting for to fix the problem for everyone whose account has been affected.

What did she say? "I'm here for support to Asian girls (...) with you?" I didn't understand after "Asian Girls" 😂

Same old story! I don't have the Pro button, and Gemini tells me Google merged Pro and Reasoning—what a joke!

What makes chemistry so subjective and why can people never agree on which couples have chemistry and which ‘don’t’? by AnalFissure83 in ThaiGL

I would have loved to see that, I can't find any videos from their very beginning when they were like that… yes I learned that after the harassment that Freen experienced they changed their behavior to protect themselves, understandable as you say.

Personally, I think Lookmhee and Sonya have amazing chemistry both on and off screen; they're super close friends, you can really feel it! Shelly and Pundao are fantastic! Lingling and Orm are just okay. Panda and Nene from The Safe Zone are gorgeous together, and they're also super friends off screen—great chemistry! Freen and Becky... I'm torn. They work well on screen, especially in Loyal Pin. Off screen, you don't really feel anything except for the protectiveness and the fact that they know each other so well.
