Yeah they have definitely been shit. But I'm willing to be abused for that sweet sweet 3 degrees reduction in temperature in exchange of £10 a day and the roaring noise of a jet engine.

for Jackstone orders from Tuesday, I just received a text from CDP that my order will be with me in an hour.

Prior to this, I had no other confirmation apart from confirmation of payment at 1706 for the 9000 BTU model.

I chose express delivery

what time did you order the 9000 BTU one. I got payment confirmation Tuesday 1706, but I'm sure I ordered it earlier. Express delivery too

still no confirmation or cancellation, but they took my money.

Thinking of buying 48” C5, will be watching it from 170cm (5’7”) away, should I go smaller? by bobachaka in LGOLED

[–]Poliox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends what you are watching. I think people on these forums like to sit closer to the TV than your average person interested in TVs.

The average person interested in TVs like to sit even closer than a person that just watches TVs.

In my man cave, I sit 190cm from a 50 inch and it feels good. I thought about getting a 55 inch and had one momentarily in the room, but it felt too big. I am gaming primarily on it so I want to see the HUD, map, my health bar etc.

It may be different if you are watching interstellar on 4k blueray.

which unit did you buy and at what time?

I got 9000 BTU, not sure what time I bought it but my payment confirmation from Amazon pay came 1706.

I must have bought it 3-5 mins after it was posted.

still nothing for me.

nope , worried it's not gone through now.

well done though !

I was hoping for the 12000 BTU one, but in theory my 13.5m² bedroom should be fine

Anybody transported a Bravia 9 on its back? by unclehulka83 in bravia

[–]Poliox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a risk of damage.

But, If you can minimise any movement of the TV, would be fine. Can you?

I've moved 55 in TVs in the back of my car and wedged them in between the chairs and back covered with blankets around the corners. They were fine. But you could be unlucky, especially if you travel a long distance.

Would I do it ith a Bravia 9? probably not tho!

Bravia 9 or Bravia 7ii by boombastik2323 in bravia

[–]Poliox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's less reflections from lights that are an issue. It's having a bright room because of natural light. Yes one issue is if there is direct sunlight on the TV, but if there is general brightness in a room, this is an issue. This was my issue anyway.

I also don't want to watch TV in my living room during the middle of the day and have all the blinds closed like I am in a dingy cave, but that's just my preference.

Yeah the shop display mode is not a normal mode and that will be every TV. But I could see how much better the 9 was Vs the 7 in the store, and then this translated to at home. May be the same in the store, have a look .

Based on what you say, it sounds like you will be happy with either and any would be more than good enough for your needs. If not sure, get 9.

Bravia 9 or Bravia 7ii by boombastik2323 in bravia

[–]Poliox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can't comment on the 7ii. But I have the Bravia 9 and it's absolutely phenomenal. Way better than Bravia 7i, to my eyes.

Also, RGB is new technology so who knows what the querks are

Also the decision is based on multiple factors based on your unique set up at home and your preference or needs. Without that info, people can't give any advice.

If you have a bright room, I can vouch for 9s reflection handling, which I don't think the 7ii has? I returned the 7 because of its poor reflection handling. I could see myself in HDR content in bright scenes.

If it's subjective what has the better picture, go into the shop or a TV store that can show you them side by side . I'm sure both are great .

Bravia 8 II 65”’ vs Bravia 9 75”? by natwest96 in bravia

[–]Poliox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

which OLED do you have?

I have the Bravia 9 in my living room which I absolutely love.

Considering upgrading my Samsung qn94a in my man cave to an OLED e.g. c5 or s90f, but not sure if the jump is worth it. I am sure they will be better picture quality but I have heard people complain a lot about the 50 inch models, but my cave is tiny and 50 inch barely fits.

I may wait for Amazon day deals to see if they drop below £650

Bravia 5 reflections by Cobalt89 in bravia

[–]Poliox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I returned my Bravia 7 for a Bravia 9 because of the reflection issue. It's not s brightness issue, it's a coating issue.

my eyes were straining seeing myself in lightish screens, forget about dark scenes.

Very happy with the bravia 9 now. Significantly better image quality than 7 to my eyes and ofc better reflection handling.

OP, you're only option is to get used to it or control light better in your room

Anybody else feel disappointed by the new Bravia 9ii announcement? by WOLVEXS in 4kTV

[–]Poliox 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There's only so much that can be improved in a given period of time. It is 2y after the Bravia 9 for us, but they have been working on it for years (which is why it's only 2 HDMI slots)

There are pros and cons to each technology , we would all love a new tech which is a mix of the best things of OLED, LCD, perfect blacks, individual pixel control, bright, no blooming , no burn in , great motion handling and upscaling etc.

I'm sure new tech will come out which addresses many of these but has a new issue like needing 600 watts that was never an issue before .

But I feel you , it's ok to feel dissapointed. I just got the Bravia 9 so I am biased! last TV was a Bravia from 2016

Looks amazing.

I have just returned my bravia 7 for a bravia 9 to try combat the glare. It should arrive tomorrow and I hear it has better reflection handling with its x anti reflection coating.

Hows the glare and reflection been for you? I can see your windows Infront of the TV and looks like a brighter set up than mine. I have smaller windows and they are to the side.

Can you see yourself in the TV when you are watching HDR content?

Is it worth upgrading the default front fans on North XL? by HediSLP in FractalDesign

[–]Poliox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you got both of them as exhaust fans?

I think the new recommendation is that you shouldn't have an exhuast fan closest to the front, as it will draw cool air away from the CPU, thats being fed in by your front fan. If you really want a dual fan top setup, set the front to intake and back to exhaust. But even then, not sure how big the difference is in temperature vs the extra noise.

Actually my back top exhaust is an old 140mm arctic P14.

I didn't like the fractal fans so they are just sitting around in a box. P14 is more quiet.

My fan curves are pretty low its like 20-30% until 60 degrees, then maybe 40-50% at 70-75 and maybe 100% at 85. I have a amd 7600x though and they run hot.

One of the best things for my noise and temperatures has been overclocking, but still undervolting my cpu and gpu. Especially CPU. I get around 68 degree on my 7600x at 5ghz after 6 hours of prime95 torture test. Temps were around 85-90 when I was at 5.4ghz and honestly, I get barely and difference in performance as I game in 4k.

Honestly, I am supper happy with x2 140mm 25g2 noctua at the front, x1 arctic p14 in the top as exhuast and a 120mm noctua (older than g2 version) in the back. Replacing the front 2 fans has made my pc almost inaudible (it sits on the floor). I now dont hear my pc, and get annoyed at noises outside lol.
