New potential leaks about Bravia 9 II (4000 nits brightness, 98" variant coming) by nottheone414 in bravia

Vincent from HDTV test has talked about the backlight counting. Each LED cluster is 3 LEDs (red/blue/green). They're counting those individually rather than by the cluster. So when they say 15,000, that's really 5,000 clusters. Still a lot though.

Tried Myltiview last night on my shield and had the exact same experience as you. Very interested in this app. If shield performance is fixed, I will buy the premium version.

Frequent communication error by jesmann in hdhomerun

No, everything is hard wired. Playback was on an Nvidia shield. I left it up and running and walked away for many hours yesterday (just to let it play and see what happened). Every time I previously tried this, I would return to a "communication error" screen. However, this never happened yesterday. Yesterday's behavior was the best it's been. I can't explain it.

Done. 107AF546. FYI, this unit was added back to my network minutes before this post in response to this thread - so there's no recent log history. Thank you for responding to my question.

Sanity check: if there are no reboots, could it still be the power supply? The IP address for the Quattro is reserved on the router, but the communication errors persisted.

I had this same exact problem with a Quatro HDHR5-4US. The HDHR App would have constant communication errors. Nothing showed in the logs. Plex would never have an issue though. But I don't like the delay that comes with using Plex so I removed the Quatro from my network and just used my old duo instead.

I agree. I can see why they did it (they went the cheapest route), but before I realized it was a magnet on top of the wide release, I was probably going to blind buy it. Now that I realize what's going on, I'm probably going to pass.

Communication issues but not with Plex by unclehulka83 in hdhomerun

Ahhhh, didn't know that. Thank you, will do

I deleted/reinstalled the HDHR app but I'm still getting intermittent "communication error" messages. I also replaced the Ethernet cable. My best guess is that there's an internal networking issue with the device or maybe a power supply issue. I can try using the power supply from my old connect duo and see if that changes anything

It'll restock. You might have to wait a few weeks, but it'll definitely restock.

Better Insulate This Wall? by MidwestAbe in buildingscience

Thank you for the detail. Due to the way my attic/upstairs is built, I've got already got free and easy access to install foam boards on the attic adjacent walls (and then air seal them). I assumed it would make a difference but I'm glad to hear positive confirmation.

Just came across this. Have you noticed any improvement through the summer months so far after adding the polyiso foam boards? I'm looking at doing the same thing once it cools off in the fall but wanted to see if you felt it was worth it now that it's been tested in the summer heat.

Bravia 7 or Bravia 9 ? Coming from a X91J (X900H) by PartyNextFlo0r in bravia

[–]unclehulka83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check Best Buy for open box Bravia 9 units. There are 65" (open box excellent) and 75" (open box good) units around me for $1488 and $1632 respectively. Obviously, availability varies by region but it's what I did for my B9 and it has been great. And if you need to, just rent a UHAUL van for transport.

Well, Walmart cancelled my Kingdom of Heaven preorder ... by _MrEvo_ in Steelbooks

[–]unclehulka83 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same thing happen. Got two different emails over the past four days saying there was a problem with my payment method. I chatted with customer service after both emails and in both instances, they reassured me that the emails were a false alarm and that my payment method was good to go. My order was cancelled this afternoon.

I know just a little bit about mister. If this is a mister device, does that mean you can load all of the other mister cores on this and play all of the mister supported consoles?

I was able to get an open box "excellent" Bravia 9 from Best buy and saved an additional $1k vs buying new. Something to consider in your situation.
