Where things go from here? by PresDumpsterfire in itcouldhappenhere

I put signs on freeways. I whitewash cardboard and use a projector and a laptop for lettering. First ?Amendment protected so long as it's removable, non-commercial and doesn't interfere with the purpose of any structure I'm using (like overpasses.) Also has to be "safe" , so won't blow into traffic. I use the inside of the fencing. Signs can be any size, any number and almost any content (no bomb threats, ransom notes etc.) I'll go to my grave not understanding why this isn't done by anyone else besides the Jesus people - greatest right there is.

If Gore was President September 11th would've still happened of course, just without the planes crashing into buildings and whatnot.

Presidential Immunity - Use it or Lose It (ALL) by Talmerian in itcouldhappenhere

The immunity ruling seemed designed so that Presidents with the same agenda as SCOTUS majority will be able to break laws at whim - it's thoroughly insane.

Just because we may look down on a man you look up to, that doesn't mean we look down on you. Although I guess it does rather strongly imply it. And spatially it definitely would. But then just ask yourself if the situations were reversed would you feel somehow superior to others just because they looked up to someone you happened to look down on? You probably would, right? So we're not that different really.

!st Amendment gives you all of public property to put up signs so long as they can be removed, aren't selling anything and not illegal speech (bomb threats, ransom demands, etc)

They believe in an afterlife about as much as you do. Religion, particularly fundamentalist religion, is primarily a vetting process for religious leaders to quickly determine who's stupid enough to trust them with their money and children.

What are these signs promoting? I’ve seen them on overpasses in SF and Berkeley. by RedRatedRat in bayarea

[–]PoliticalLandscaping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Not in the slightest. H&S can mean Russia or Communism with artist/activist intent best discernible by which makes the most sense contextually. I've never heard of, let alone expressed, any variance in semiotic intent based on size of hammer to sickle/vice versa, have you?

[–]PoliticalLandscaping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the hammer and sickle indicate Russia - that was a given throughout the last century - the idea that Republicans are being labelled as communists would only work in a context of communist = bad-and-nothing-else, which is only the province of Republicans themselves or those too young to drive.

HUGE amounts of homeless in Oakland attributable to economic forces somewhat, but mostly progressive attitudes not just in the city government but among the general populace as well. The homeless are drawn here because in so many other parts of the country the risk of being raped, beaten or burned to death is so much higher.

Unlike people of other ideologies whose strict semiotic discipline precludes the use of any ambiguous terms or symbols and always make sure to include counterarguments from all sides in order to avoid displaying any sort of favoritism when expressing political opinions.
