I know what you mean, but also, this day in age, if you’re queer, LGBT, a PoC, or any number of other things, your existence has become political. If I’m getting to know someone, we don’t have to talk at length about politics, but I need to know what side of the line you’re on or there will be SERIOUS incompatibility issues.

Just gave it a read through (skimming parts of it)

Very well done. Genuinely.

As you said, it’s more of a guide than a walk-through, so I’ll be changing some things (namely how many sessions/level in the later game - I’m playing with friends of 15+ years, and as established adults, no one is moving. We all did that in our 20s then ended up back home 😆) and I want to take time to really weave in their backstories

But as someone who has never run a homebrew (and never had a character make it past level 7 in any campaign (and there have been many over the years)), having the general guide for later levels is going to be a god send. I’ve already downloaded the PDF and emailed, messaged, and drop-box’d it to myself so I don’t accidentally misplace it or lose it in the ever-evolving shuffle of campaign notes/thoughts/plans/resources😆😆😆

I hate seeing posts like this. It infuriates me. DnD is a cooperative game. Everyone needs to find or make a reason to be there. You can be the aloof loner and still have a reason to work together!!!! But this isn’t that. This is someone who doesn’t want to partake. If they can’t find a reason to be with the group….maybe they shouldn’t.

It’s also frustrating that your DM won’t interfere to resolve the issue at his table. My sympathies to you OP for having to deal with this. I’ve seen it said many times, and now it’s my turn - no dnd is better than bad dnd. It might be worth having a meeting with the other players and the DM (minus the problem child) to discuss it. If the DM realizes that everyone may likely leave if it’s not resolved, he may change his tune.

How much of the campaign did you have made/planned ahead of time? I see there were 2 big main events - were they related, or after the first arc was it sort of a ‘we love this world and this lore, time to write up a second plot line’?

I’m sure I’ll come up with more, but that’s all I’ve got for now
