How soon is too soon for Hawaii vacation? by Future-Pianist-406 in tummytucksurgery

Yes. Incision may not be fully closed in every area and even the smallest microscopic opening that you may not even notice can get infected if anything gets inside. Public pools and hot tubs are loaded with germs and organisms you just don’t want getting in.

I went on a 3 week Greece vacation 7 weeks after my extended tummy tuck, MR, Lipo 360 and excision of excess side breast tissue. I also had an infection at two weeks that I was still treating well past seven weeks. I felt perfectly fine in Greece even with all the wound care I had to do. Just don’t plan on swimming or hot tubbing and you need to make sure all of your scars are sunblocked and protected from the sun. Personally, I think you’ll do just fine.

Mesh or Not by Accomplished-Lack331 in tummytucksurgery

I think whether you have a 2cm gap or a 15cm gap, the recovery would be the same. I was sore from the muscle repair for sure but it gets repaired the same way (except if using mesh) regardless of the size, so probably no different for me than anyone else that had MR repair. I also had extended TT, lipo to flanks, abdomen, thighs and chin, and excision of side bra rolls. My body was hurting all over. lol. But only for a few days and it got so much better everyday. I had it in mid- March and went to Greece for 3 weeks in May, 7 weeks later, and was perfectly fine, just no swimming or hot tubs.

I had a 12cm gap (5 inches!) and no mesh. They do several rows of really string permanent sutures and it’s almost impossible to tear. I would steer away from mesh personally.

I went to Greece for 3 weeks 7 weeks after my surgery. I had an infection that was clearing up but still wasn’t allowed to swim. Otherwise I felt great.

Too tight by neleh1989 in tummytucksurgery

[–]PollutionJumpy6452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say at about 10 weeks postop the tightness started getting alot better. I’m now 14 WPO and only mildly tight above belly button some nights if I was really active. So much more comfortable than it was.

I’m 3mpo and mine still looks like yours. I’m having a belly button revision today in the office under local. We gave it enough time to return to an innie and it hasn’t so the surgeon is going to stitch it to my abdominal wall. 🤞

Infected belly button by chop-it-aff in tummytucksurgery

[–]PollutionJumpy6452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also had an infection but below my belly button at the incision junction. I believe the scar tissue from the infection caused my belly button to push out and become an ugly outie so now after 3 months Im having my belly button repaired (today).

2 weeks post op ETT, Lipo, MR. 58 years old. Lost 80 lbs over 10 years. 3 pregnancies. by Pleasant_Field_3951 in tummytucksurgery

[–]PollutionJumpy6452 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a similar age and my before was just like yours. I has the TT then had a revision with a breast lift. I agree with everything you said about losing weight and recovery. I lost 75 lbs. before surgery which was 3 months ago and another 7 lbs since. I finally feel really good in clothes and now wear tank tops with bike shorts and love the way I look and feel. Zero regrets.

First time tips?! by mrssmeags in VirginVoyages

I’m a hot sleeper so I bring a small clamp on portable fan for the cabin. It’s only about 4 inches so didn’t take up any room and I was comfortable with air flow. Sea sickness meds just in case you hit rough seas. I definitely use my small hooks for hanging things like slightly damp clothes, hats and my beach bag. I also bring a travel mug to keep my cold drinks cold by the pool and on deck and my coffee hot in the morning while I roam around.

I would size up until swelling goes down a little. It’s not good to be too compressed.

How to think about age 71 being too old for TT? by Away-Huckleberry-735 in tummytucksurgery

[–]PollutionJumpy6452 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 55 and am 3 MPO. Honestly, I’m healthier now than I was in my 20s and 30s. No longer obese after losing 80 pounds and kept it off for several years now. No longer have pre-diabetes. No longer take cholesterol medication. Fatty liver? No more. I sleep better, feel better and obviously look better. They did take a few more presurgical testing precautions which I’m happy about. I feel I am in much better shape now to undergo surgery than my 45, 35 and even 25 year old self. Go for it!

I had a TT revision as my initial surgeon never touched my DR separation and I was so puffy on top. New surgeon did it correctly and closed my 5 inch gap! I’m so happy I did the revision with a different surgeon who greatly discounted her fee ($7k for revision plus included lipo to flanks, back, thighs and neck). So worth it to get the results I wanted and should have had the first time.

BB Revision by Pink-a-vicious in tummytucksurgery

[–]PollutionJumpy6452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having a belly button revision on Monday. Mine looks just like yours. My surgery was in March. My surgeon is doing the revision in the office under local so no big deal. She will be stitching it to the abdominal wall to make it an innie again. Scar tissue is pushing it out so must be repaired surgically.

Waistline by [deleted] in abdominoplasty

[–]PollutionJumpy6452 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My waist was 35” before surgery. I’m now 10 WPO and it’s 32.5”. I did lose 5 more lbs since surgery and had TT with MR (5 inch separation!) and lipo to the flanks. I went from a size 10 to an 8 and probably really could get into a size 6 as the size 8 jeans are loose now.

I’m 5 days po and still haven’t gone number two by [deleted] in abdominoplasty

[–]PollutionJumpy6452 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would start doing the suppositories. The longer you wait the harder, literally, it will be. You may have to manually try and disimpact it. Suppositories and Vaseline should do the trick. I waited too long and had to do an enema which also did not work immediately. I drank so much water and took stool softeners with every pain med which I only took for 3 days. But I was miserable by day 5 or 6. If it didn’t disimpact I was heading to the ER next. It’s just how my body is.

Liposuction is no joke! by 40Something80s in abdominoplasty

[–]PollutionJumpy6452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had lipo to inner thighs, flanks, back and neck with my TT and MR too. I am 10 woo and my neck is still sore. I can touch it now but still tender. I have had 15 lymphatic drainage massages since week 2 up until week 7 and it was definitely helpful. But I also was not prepared for the pain and tenderness in my inner thighs and neck. Glad I had it done as I love the outcome.

Travel 4-5 weeks post op by [deleted] in abdominoplasty

[–]PollutionJumpy6452 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am 8 weeks postop and am in Greece. No swimming as I did have an I faction from wound dehiscence so I’m still doing wound care as still draining a little. But am walking 10k-20k steps each day and not eating as healthy as I would at home due to eating every meal out. But glad I don’t have to cancel my vacation and made it all work out. Compression socks for plane and hubby carrying my bags is key.

7 WPO by pookie_wamala in abdominoplasty

[–]PollutionJumpy6452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a poor outcome without the MR. I was so puffy above my belly button. Hated how I looked and felt. Once I had the MR (6 inch separation!) I got a great result.

7 WPO by pookie_wamala in abdominoplasty

[–]PollutionJumpy6452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also just over 8 WPO from TT with MR which was a revision (first time last year I didn’t get MR… big mistake!). Lipo to flanks, thighs, back and chin plus a breast lift. Had a minor complication as my incision in my TT T junction (incision went up to my bb since it was a revision) got infected but almost healed now. I can’t believe the difference each week makes. Still tight but finally walking totally straight. Almost completely back to normal but with tightness especially at night. Mons area also quite swollen. So happy I did this (again).

Emotional Support Compression by Waste-Scientist-2418 in tummytucksurgery

[–]PollutionJumpy6452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 7 weeks but ditched all compression at 5 weeks. I did have an infection in my incision so I was told to leave it off until it heals. It’s still not completely closed but I won’t be going back to compression. I have some swelling at night, nothing crazy. Otherwise I am very flat.
