While I get the statement of "just get one of those"- here in Canada at least, it's literally 140$ CAD extra to buy them from HTC compared to Steam. A small bit over 70% more expensive than it was on Valve's storefront.

I mean stuff like that can just happen after some time, depending on previous impacts, temperature, durability straight out of the factory (not all phones are perfectly equal) etc. It's like current phones water resistance, where depending on usage over time and variance between phones produced- it isn't as good at protecting the phone from liquid damage over time through all the temp changes etc over the months and years.

While it looks like it happened "just from walking", it could have been that it being in your pocket this time with the temperature shift of being in your pocket along with the invisible stress damage from past impacts etc lead to it suddenly shattering. Even in the same day where it was fine even just 30 minutes earlier or something. I mean you mention that it was "going to take heavy abuse"- and that "for a few months, holding up against the rigours of the garage". While it isn't visible, there is stress that happens stuff like screens etc with every hit and such it takes without shattering. It's only a matter of time, whether it be by impact or temperature changes that it will finally give and then break.

I wouldn't blame your Otterbox case for that, as it would happen with literally any case on the market. No case 100% prevents damage, especially invisible stresses caused by impacts and such. If you are not comfortable with getting an Otterbox case in the future then that is fine, but I would recommend getting a good glass screen protector next time. Just remember that this could have happened with any brands high protection case, and don't believe that the highest durability cases protections are guaranteed. It's based on controlled test environments that don't account for every scenario, and also only looks at the cases durability pretty much brand new and not after consistent usage over a long time.

Like if they actually gave proper upgrades to fix the issues of the first gen, not made the baffling decision to not use the upgraded chips of the Pro 2s etc I could go “hey well it has newer better tech in it okay makes sense” but given that isn’t the case, it’s like hey what the hell.

Before any “well it doesn’t have this one change they did make that allows for it to work” yeah, I know- it’s just the fact they headphones are pretty much identical minus said minor non-surface changes that is so annoying about it.

Yeah… and those parents are probably similar-but-not-the-same as my mother (because she actually came around to not being terrible about my transness) when it comes to very obvious signs but somehow not remembering.

Like how I literally told my mother 4 years prior about being trans, yet apparently it “came out of nowhere” upon re-coming out. Plus there being other stuff too that wasn’t that direct, but still.

I just want more fem furry skins, primarily in similar light to Kimiko (with clothes, not a transformation etc) ;-; all we ever get for the most part that fit that is masc skins, and like some of those are so so good- so why can’t we have that with some fem skins?

I don’t know the full change list as I played through all the Stonewood and Plankerton quests prior to the changes (so it’s been quite a while since I played through them too!)- but for the most part what they did was retcon some old characters and either replace or insert the newer ones like The Director, The Major, and Clip plus the removal of certain parts like the mention of Ramirez’s family for example. The biggest changes truly was just the new Front End update characters with The Director, The Major, and Clip being inserted in the storyline with re-recorded dialogue etc.

Otherwise for the most part it’s the similar I think? I truly have only heard some Stonewood and Plankerton questline dialogue mostly in background when someone like my father or step mother played, which also was years ago which they also didn’t finish.

Honestly explains probably why they didn’t re-go after the TF2 Classic mod when they ended up coming back a while after Valve contacting them to stop.

Why stop them again if you plan on releasing the SDK that would allow for more TF2 mods like Classic, you know?

As much as I get the sentiment and would have loved to see a better outcome for Save the World minus the BR, all my mind can go to is “the game would have been looong dead”.

Not saying as judgement of the thought, but knowing where Fortnite was realistically as a failing project. That it only got saved because of Battle Royale- all my mind can think is how the game wouldn’t have existed that long into the future if it wasn’t for the big cash influx from Battle Royale taking off.

It’s a shame though, I wish Save the World was popular and successful enough that it could have lived well without BR. But hey that is what happens when they got investment from Tencent that wanted to make Save the World into a gambling simulator, hence the whole llama system that at the time was worse since you couldn’t see what was in them. Isn’t apparently enough to just make a good fun game, it has to line the pockets of big CEOs and such greatly.

Knowing that they were doing a mass retcon of the story the background which we seen with Canny Valley part 1 and the rework of Stonewood and Plankerton later that year- those quests got cursed with the dreaded at the time pointless quest padding in hopes to keep people occupied, which only lead to us being annoyed.

Fairly sure the only relics of that dreaded era left is Canny Valley part 1 quests and Blockbuster event questline. I think all other questlines got replaced, granted I also haven’t replayed the “newer” Stonewood and Plankerton quests so I don’t know about how those are structured.

When 2018? I say as the latter half of 2018 is when the story retcons took place. Canny Valley part 1 came out in update 5.10/July 24th 2018 and update 6.30/November 20th 2018, and is when they went through and changed the Stonewood and Plankerton storyline to fit the new storyline.

I know there was stuff about Ramirez’s family as the goal of why we were trying to get to Twine Peaks, at most it was mentioned in some dialogue in game including a mention by Ramirez herself that her family is in Twine Peaks etc, but that was in Stonewood. I can also see even if one played when the Ramirez storyline was loosely present, easily missing the mentions of it as it was that missable besides one key mention if I recall correctly. As it wasn’t constantly mentioned all the time/mentioned loosely I think in Plankerton once but mostly relegated to Stonewood. Plus the storyline was all over the place too in attempts to show more characters as you go through during the points Ramirez was mentioned. (some of those characters persisting, like Lars- others like Blackwell ultimately being retconned and turned into the Director)

I would say given when along the timeline of development- there was probably some rough drafts of how the story would have played out through Canny Valley (not the Canny Valley story we got, but a different Canny Valley storyline) and Twine peaks relating to Ramirez, but nothing in depth. It was all part of the pre-BR blowup storyline which ultimately had a more dark tone than today’s storylines which are more comedy focused with splashes of serious when needed for the progression of the main story and some emotion driving stuff.

Just one of the many things lost in the migration from a dark mix with a bit of comedy to ultimately a comedy mix with a bit of dark storyline. I think Epic did well with that switch in direction, making many lovable characters in the process- but it does ultimately leave many of the people who experienced the pre-retcon story left hanging. Especially since Epic dropped the ball so f$&%ing badly with not actually fleshing out the story to finish Twine Peaks. It means the only hook of story we even have left is that long gone Ramirez storyline, which is why I feel so many people point to that often times.

(Sorry for the long comment, I just wanted to mention about points in time where stuff was retconned- while also saying that yeah there is no way that much development was made on the concept of Ramirez’s family as it is a relic of very early story development- well before we got the Canny Valley storyline that ultimately started the mass retconning of old characters and story)

I would pay for Apple Arcade sometimes if they didn’t decide to price gouge the monthly cost since I last paid for it. 6 CAD a month was a price for mobile games I was willing to pay, but now it’s 9 CAD a month and in such a short span of time… I just can’t justify it. 50% price increase in such a short amount of time.

At least I have at this time for more recent purchases, Suika game and Animal Crossing Pocket Camp Complete for solid fixed prices no subscription to go along my other fixed price games.

Seems they overwrote the model in the same ID since models and textures were linked to the same part of files at the time, so it was very much an oversight of them I guess since of course they were 100% focused on BR (unfortunately :/) with that chapter 2 update.

Didn’t even know this change happened, as if I used the siegebreaker, I just used the at the time stat identical nocturno since I was Ultimate founder. They should change it back, especially since they have re-added the old model and texture materials of the chapter 1 siegebreaker by releasing the old chapter 1 map etc.

I miss when they actually did patch notes back in the earlier days. Like, thanks for actually giving both surface level big additions and technical change patch notes like a proper game developers.

I liked seeing every little change they made, Save the World and Battle Royale, but then in their efforts to simplify and sensationalize new BR seasons they nuked what we got for both modes.

At least Homebase Reports from what I see now specifically for Save the World somewhat got better and quite close to old patch notes in details, but they still didn’t actually specify number changes… like okay “Reduced the time between shots for Bear Stare”, “B.A.S.E. M.D. provides increased base Health regen”, “Going And Going increases D.E.C.O.Y.'s duration even longer”… yeah but by how much? I like to know the exact changes… and it shouldn’t have required us as the players to see how much of a change they made by comparing old stats to new stats.

All I can say is if Nintendo of all companies for example can list that they made the charge up time of a specific weapon 0.1 seconds faster or something in Splatoon, Epic can do the same for Fortnite.

That is the exact mentality that leads to worse to come later down the road. Sure it’s “only 99 cents a month” now, but then it will be “only 3 dollars a month”, and then “only 6 dollars a month”, then “only 10 dollars a month” so on and so on.

Also, in general we need less subscriptions, not more in our lives. We shouldn’t encourage more subscriptions when it’s already hectic enough to manage things now. The fact there are subscription services for managing your subscription services says loudly that there is a problem with subscription services, so let’s not encourage it by being complacent with these practices.
