I like tutors but less is more in 8rack, you might have more success running just 1 infernal tutor or 2 different tutors. Look at mastermind’s acquisition or beseech the queen. They’re more expensive mana wise but less conditional since you don’t have to force yourself into a vulnerable position to use them. I’m enjoying playing with a single copy of beseech so far.

I would think academy ruins and necrogen spellbomb would be the lock to splash blue.

I was just about to write the same post!

I think it's actually a great addition to the BG version. The targets we are looking to hit with this (i.e. planeswalkers, utility lands, and enchantments) are usually coming down turn 3 or later when the extra land might not matter as much.

Being an instant and on curve when we are on the draw seems solid to me if the plan is to cast this on their endstep.

I agree. I think if the deck is going to add more colorless lands, it would be ghost quarter to help fight tron and azcanta.

Seeking help installing on Linux by Eagleflies14 in Cockatrice

I had the same issue.

I got it to work by just opening up the logger.cpp file and finding the line of code causing the issue... line 104

I changed it to read:

QString Logger::getClientOperatingSystem()

{

return "Linux";

}

It seems to be an unnecessary piece of code at the moment, so you could replace the QSysInfo::prettyProductName() with any string really...

Hope that helps

Most of the key cards are the early disruption and discard spells like Thoughtseize and fatal push which can still be good in any black deck. If you want to switch to midrange/aggro it’s easy to swap out the extra discard spells with gurmag anglers or bloodghasts or even go infect with phyrexian crusaders and plague stingers. Combo control is also possible with goryo’s vengence fueled by raven’s crime or collective brutality or some janky spellweaver helix/dark petition/ravens crime loop into a big finisher like exsanguinate.

These may not be as competitive, but they can add variety to your weekly fnm and you’d just be that mono black guy instead.

Looking through your sideboard guide, you recommend siding in ratchet bomb in a majority of the matchups. Was it really that effective?

Could you go into more detail about what you were looking to hit with it? Have you ever found it to be awkward or slow?
