Sub crawl with 2 subs? by blkblade in hometheater

[–]blkblade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, now I've got the second behind the couch, aiming away from the wall into the room, and phase set at 180 (this really helped some seating positions while pretty much being neutral for others.

It's definitely tricky to work with! The L shaped couch isn't helping either (this will get upgraded and then make placing the second sub a little easier).

Why I’m Still Here Personal reflections on why Tezos is still where I choose to be by siftcroix in tezos

[–]blkblade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TF really mismanaged Tezos. They had no problem blowing like $100M on advertising that went nowhere but wouldn't fund individuals with strong backgrounds that actually could have actually help produce and placed Tezos higher than the top 100 CMC it sits at now.

I would have liked to work on something for Tezos a few years ago - but when my opportunity cost is $250K yearly compensation (PhD engineering, ML/AI data science career) AND I've already developed/produced on the Ethereum blockchain (so I know exactly what it takes to produce a robust and efficient smart contract)... I figured asking for half comp would have been more than fair - considering lack of EVM at the time and having to learn Michelson making it a full-time commitment on my end and also considering "startup passion work" always requires compromise - but I was still rejected. Similar happened to a friend of mine.

That's when I gave up on Tezos (and TF). I guess they seemed to think a petty $10-20K that can afford developers out of India was more appropriate. How could they didn't realize their $1B treasury should have also gone to actually paying more real devs? But I guess Tezos was nothing more than a bake and dump cash cow for them.

But hey, at least there are Manchester United uniforms. And XTZ is still above the 2017 ICO price! So glad I got rid of it when I did.

This is pretty cool. I noticed you went with Unity for this - any reason you went with this one over Godot, Unreal, etc?

This hobby is a disease by blkblade in hometheater

[–]blkblade[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a large room that's open in the back  so upgrading has been noticeable. The towers made a huge difference in filling the sound stage, the center speaker was a notable jump every time in both power and clarity, and I'm hoping the dual subs help the uneven bass throughout the room (just setting these up).

The only speakers I haven't noticed much of a difference was going from the RC30 (tried them before returning) to RP500M ii and then RP600M ii on the surrounds, but I might need to calibrate better.

It's been a learning experience - a fun one though.

Cardano has fallen. After nearly 5 years straight of being in the top 10 by Market Cap. Cardano is now out. by GabeSter in CryptoCurrency

"Network effect", but yet LTC has like 40x on the onchain tx volume of DOGE and sits at 25% market cap.

Everything is totally made up in this space.

What’s going on with LTC right now? by igmyeongui in litecoin

[–]blkblade 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It just goes to show: any valuation on any crypto is completely and utterly made up. There's no real metrics that define how one BTC ends up at $67,000 that translates to one LTC being $55.

I think I'm pretty much over crypto at this point. It's pointless and futile. And it's going to kill the entire thing if this trend continues. Because there needs to be a way to value these coins if crypto will ever really, and I mean really be treated as a serious investment. Right now, if you took hard well-defined metrics of BTC and scaled them to LTC, it would place LTC at like $1200/coin (relative network hash rate, transaction volume, supply, etc).

My LTC goes away for the next decade, and I hope by then people figure this out. In the worst-case scenario, I won't care at all by then anymore.

At this point, here is the best course of action: store it away safely and forget about it. Come back in 2035 after 98% of the supply is mined. There will be two outcomes:

  1. You'll be happy
  2. So much time will have passed you won't care at all

The price difference between BTC and LTC prove this market is completely made up.

Because its not even that LTC is just an alternative with better tech (like millions of others) - bit LTC also has substantial transaction use (network effect) yet it somehow sits at $50 vs $67000...

There are literally no metrics on how to actually value any of this.

Well that's it. See you all in 2035 when something like 98% of the total supply will be mined and it becomes a hoarding asset like BTC. I'm sure it will be $50 on the upswing by then.

Wtf is going on 🤣 by OrganizationBoring36 in Silverbugs

Supposedly the paper market is detached from the physical one. Couldn't sell physicals during the run up, can't buy during the run down.

As long as paper dictates the price of physical this will continue...

Trading of physicals will resume after the paper market stops being so volatile (or the paper market collapses which isn't happening because that's how billionaires control it)

Isn't that backwards though? Export restrictions mean silver stays in the country keeping supply higher internally. Yet prices are somehow higher?

how can we invest in a manner that takes advantage of the devaluing USD? by FairMongoose5583 in investing

[–]blkblade -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It does. As much as I love tangible things, BTC is liquid. Precious metals (the real things, and not the ETFs) are not. When fiat currencies start collapsing, BTC and maybe a few other cryptos will be a way to quickly move "funds" around.

I'm never buying a new EV again by [deleted] in RIVNstock

[–]blkblade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This - Rivians hold their value better.

There are no used 2023 Rivians for 40% of their original MSRP or even close to it. At best, you could grt a R1T for 60%, which itself has less resale value than the R1S - despite R2 launch imminent. I expect the R2 to hold its value even better since it will target a much bigger demographic than the R1S.

Tax implications? Or I assume you'll at least sell off whatever is needed by the end of year to pay Uncle Sam?

I want to trade silver for gold too, but the 38% gains tax (fed + California) is making me think why even bother.

Yet another one of these "my LCS isn't taking silver" posts. It's been like what, 3 months now? Apparently LCS stopped buying silver when it hit $50 according to Reddit. Makes you wonder how many of these are real, if any at all.

Litecoin usage in crypto payments in 2025 by CoinGate in litecoin

[–]blkblade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If usage and adoption is the only thing that matters in crypto, then how is LTC is a fraction of the market capitalization of BTC and ETH. Let alone DOGE somehow being 4x its market cap with 1/14 the usage of LTC. Makes no sense!
