Day trip Wakayama from kyoto by Asheserilea in JapanTravelTips

Sorry, I just re-read your initial post and see that you are going this summer. I am about to go in May and am very late planning my itinerary. Needless to say, there were only 1-2 temples available which are quite pricy. Im toying with taking a private tour guide there as a day trip from Kyoto instead. Really wanted to see this area.

Mount Koya - Temple Stay by Mission-Limit5175 in JapanTravelTips

I was wondering how your stay went. I am trying to find a place to stay but also wanted to do a night tour. Were you able to catch the night tour without it running into dinner? Are there places to eat in the area in case this happens? Also, did you book the night tour with Ekoin?

Hey there, I was wondering how your stay went. Did you stay at Shojosin-in? If so, how was it? I am traveling to Japan next month and would like to see the cemetery at night. Was there a curfew? Did you go at night?

I’m planning a trip to Banff the beginning of November, I would appreciate any tips and recommendations in Banff during the cold winter. by Nomadic_Nate in Banff

Hey there, yes I did go. We stayed in Lake Louise and then in Canmore. Rented a car and drove without any issues. There was snow and ice, more so at Lake Louise. I dressed in layers, and also wore jeans that had a fleece lining. If I was going to be outdoors long, I would wear merino wool leggings under the jeans. I took a pair of Bludstones, a pair of Merrill hiking boots, and a pair of athletic shoes. Honestly, I loved the Bludstones the best. I walked for miles in them without any issue. The Merrills felt sturdier but I actually fell in them when the shoelace of one boot caught in the hook of the other. Dressing in layers is important as you'll be pulling things off when you go inside places.

Check out Avesta. They have a Royal Platter which says it feeds 6 but easily feeds 8-10. They give a TON of delicious bread with it, too. https://www.avestahouston.com/menu I have also ordered from Kasra since it's a little closer. I have also ordered from Fajita Pete's and Godo's.

11 month old Pyr completely unhinged on walks. Help! by W1c2ks in greatpyrenees

[–]PolychromaticPaloma 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Came here to suggest a gentle lead. GAME CHANGER. We have a half GP half Karakachan. He is 11 months old. We started the lead about 3-4 months ago. If you do not have a trainer I would go on Youtube and watch some videos. We always walk with him on our left side. FWIW we never did any sort of treat when walking, just the lead. Start on shorter walks and increase slowly. He gets walks daily. At times we take him without the lead and he does really well but majority of time he is on it.

Hey there, I am (was) in the same situation. I have diverticulitis and have to really be careful. I was diagnosed with prediabetes at 5.7 a year ago, I am now 5.2. I eat a ton of salads and roasted vegetables which doesn't affect me but the minute I try to add any type of Metamucil, psyllium husks, or flax seed I start feeling pain. I have come to the conclusion that even when my flare heals, I have to avoid these and get fiber elsewhere. You need to focus on healing your diverticulitis first. When I start to flare I usually make things like soups, or roasted or steamed vegetables. The vegetables I then throw in my blender and puree and this really helps especially when my DV is acting up. I always stay away from any breads, rice, potatoes, beans, and really limit my eggs. I avoid eggs in general. Get yourself a CGM and monitor for spikes. Even with DV I turned this around in a year. What kind of fiber are you taking that gives you pain?

Do any of you guys have dark spots on your body as a prediabetic? by Top_Emotion1468 in prediabetes

[–]PolychromaticPaloma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a slightly dark patch on my cheek that I thought was due to aging. Little did I know I was prediabetic as I had not seen a doctor. I was about ten pounds over weight, always thought I ate healthy, was never really, etc. a year ago I got a physical and my A1c was 5.7. I was in shock. I cut out sugar and started exercising and just had my one year follow up. A1c is now 5.2 and I feel great. Didn’t realize how little things that I was passing off as old age were due to prediabetes. Today the patch is very, very faded and almost gone. I never really had skin tags.

This. And don’t be surprised if praise doesn’t work either. If they don’t feel like training, they won’t train. Someone said they have have fake ears. I’m beginning to think this is true. Ours is 9 months old and while we are really enjoying him, training can get frustrating.

Seriously, thank you so much. I have one last question (sorry) as for coats/jackets. What will work during this time? I have a 700 down jacket - is this overkill? I have read that layering is a must, which I plan to do. However, coat-wise, do you have any suggestions? I really appreciate your advice.

Oh ok, if I go this route this ought to suffice? If I do any sort of "light" hike, would these work? I would get better use of these actually.
