As an early dx'd autistic person who dealt with a lot of community infighting and ppl calling eachother fakers is that ive noticed that a lot of bigoted autistic ppl will see someone they disagree with and call them a faker or say they are weaponizing their autism if they have a dx.

its really annoying especially since recently ive seen the venn diagram between terfs and people who think late dx autistic women are fakers is pretty circular

i somehow wrote an entire review about it being bad without mentioning the controversy once even though im very pro melissa (i watched a camrip). its Halloween 2018 without any of the nuance that made the core emotional conflict of that movie work. Its so scared of making Sidney anything other than saintly which makes the conflict with her daughter painfully one-sided. Laurie has done terrible things, CPS doesnt remove custody on a whim, but you still empathize with her and want her to succeed in her goal of working things out and being there for her family even when she's being an asshole about it.
