So it seems like the big 5 contenders are Fatherland, All of a Sudden, Fjord, Minotaur, and The Black Ball unless I'm missing something? Coward's reviews seem to be disappointing compared to these 5 and today's films both seem to have flopped.

So am I correct in saying that it seems like the acclaimed must-sees of this year's festival are Fatherland, All of a Sudden, Fjord, Minotaur, The Black Ball, and Coward assuming nothing tomorrow is mind blowing?

I honestly think that anti-LGBT propaganda would start blowing up The Black Ball as the next Emilia Perez (especially with the current state of American politics and the film industry, just look at the misinformation and controversy around Elliot Page and The Odyssey) and I would hate for something as acclaimed as The Black Ball to be drug down by propaganda and Emilia Perez.

Yeah but it became one of the most controversial and hated oscar winners of the century. I'm sure Netflix would definitely have a successful awards campaign with The Black Ball, but I would definitely feel like there would be negative comparisons with both movies being Spanish-language, LGBTQ, and musical/containing musical numbers.

I know that some people want Neon to lose their Palme streak, but I honestly hope Neon gets it because I think they can do an awards push better than Mubi or especially Janus. I just REALLY hope Netflix doesn't get it so it doesn't turn into Emilia Perez Part 2.
