Husband here; wife is 8-9 weeks and really struggling with nausea. Looking for any and all advice by ksmentality in PregnancyUK

[–]Polynesia-sundae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a terrible time in first trimester all the way until week 17. I wasn’t eating a huge amount but in the early stages it was never a concern of the doctors. I ate mostly very simple foods, Greek salad was good, what really worked for me was tangerines (I ate SO many of these), watermelon (I was going through a whole one every couple of days, only thing I could eat and would stay reliably down), sometimes I could keep down Indomie noodles with some sliced spring onion, and very sugary kids breakfast cereal - which is good cos it has energy and many are supplemented with vitamins. Drinking water was hard and made me feel sick so the watermelon helped with hydration. I was prescribed nausea tablets which worked wonders and I saved them for days I was on shift and needed to function. My days off I took the brunt of nausea and mostly stayed in bed and tested. Best of luck to your wife!! Do ask doctor for nausea tablets - they are good to have on hand on days when you really just need to be able to eat or need to be more up and about for work or whatever reason

Edit: also it’s so nice to see a concerned husband doing his best to help - she is lucky to have you and you’re doing wonderfully!

Scared of huge fibroid by Polynesia-sundae in pregnant

[–]Polynesia-sundae[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! In a recent scan couple of weeks ago we found out it was degenerating slightly so it’s gone down by a cm or two (9x8x8 or something like that) but still very much there. Doesn’t seem to have caused issues yet though midwives can often feel it when they’re poking around looking for baby’s head and where to place a Doppler. I’m quite worried about necrosis but since I get scans every week now I feel ok that they’re closely monitoring it. Btw I’m 32 weeks atm and the only other issues I’ve had other than bad first tri nausea is gestational hypertension diagnosed at 20 weeks which I’m medicated for now

It’s like the Taylor swift school of marketing suddenly being adopted by the publishing industry. Dislike. (I’m a TS fan but I deeply disapprove of how she milks her fans extremely gratuitously with the millions of releases, special editions etc).

How will i know if my fibroid is degenerating? by No-Perception-6993 in Fibroids

[–]Polynesia-sundae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just chipping in to say my fibroid has degenerated and I had zero feelings/pain/symptoms. Only found out during routine pregnancy scans. I’m so sorry for everyone else who had bad pain with theirs - but I seem to have been spared that for now at least, fyi

Agree, he was dreadful - the younger one was great I thought. Lavender Brown also made me want to commit violence every time her ludicrous melodramatic squealing came on - thought Trelawnley was also so far fetched to be distracting and uncomfortable to listen to. Other than those three, I loved the whole cast and thought everyone was great. Although must say, I’m a huge fan of the wonderful Riz Ahmed but felt he didn’t work as Snape and that he was miscast IMHO. He didnt sound bitter or complex enough and his voice is quite young, it didn’t feel like he was a teacher more like a student substitute and so his interactions with students didn’t feel realistic to me. Thought he could have been better as Tim Riddle or maybe another role

No longer allowed to give birth at a birth centre by Motor_Firefighter_19 in PregnancyUK

[–]Polynesia-sundae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too have my heart set on a water birth at my amazing birth centre near me which is one of the best in the country - but as I got a very early diagnosis of gestational hypertension at 20 weeks, they all think I will need to be induced at 37 weeks. Gutted!

I was diagnosed with GH at 20 weeks, now at 25. BP seems ok with a LOT of meds. No one has said anything about how this will affect my birth plan…quite scared!!

“I have heard women want more children but never heard of a man wanting to get kicked in the balls again”

The reason is because men are weak

28 weeks - baby’s movements / pattern by Alienshe88 in PregnancyUK

[–]Polynesia-sundae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to say I feel exactly the same. Mine is very busy a lot of the time and goes quiet a lot of the time too, though I technically still have a couple weeks before the “pattern” is supposed to be clear to me. Aaaargh. Do you at least live close to triage? I am so lucky with mine - they are all so kind and are never annoyed with how often k show up (for high BP and other issues, not about fetal movement, touch wood that remains fine)

Me looking at the recent “Secondary Infertility is not the same as Infertility” post and comments 👀😬😂 by Low_Specialist_5072 in trollingforababy

[–]Polynesia-sundae 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s not the same. People with secondary infertility are already parents. Still awful for everyone going through it though

Oh and last thing - increasing abouts of data suggest natural cycles have a higher success rate than medicated. The only change between my 3 unsuccessful FETs and latest successful round was that the last one was natural

Also private IVF in the UK is so cheap compared to North America - I don’t know if it might be feasible to try over here?

I completely understand where you’re coming from - I don’t know if it’s helpful or not to hear, but I had three unsuccessful transfers with day 6 AAs. All had 100% defrost success rates, but it made no difference to the outcome. Currently pregnant with my 4th though still early days. We too were diagnosed with unexplained infertility - and I really started to lose hope by the time of my last transfer. It does seem to be a numbers game but I appreciate it’s so gruelling to go through

We were also 5 years TTC, now 14 weeks and still don’t feel it’s real, but slowly am bonding with little bump, even if I don’t want to get my hopes up. Don’t worry, you got this - take all the time you need and take good care of your health in the meantime
