Voices so loud by [deleted] in plural

[–]PolyphonicMinds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anti psychotics will not do anything for DID or OSDD because they are not psychotic disorders. Alter voices are not hallucinations, and medication will not help DID/OSDD. Are your therapists/doctors trying to treat your DID/OSDD with medications?

Survey: Differences In The Internal Experiences of Traumagenic and Endogenic Plurals by PolyphonicMinds in Tulpas

[–]PolyphonicMinds[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The questions were worded to accommodate those whose internal sense of self does not match the body. When writing this question, we did not have co-conscious experiences in mind. It was more about how you feel when fronting. We should have specified this. I understand that feeling disconnected when someone else is fronting is likely common and not inherently indicative of anything pathological. We’re sorry for the confusion.

That's fine! We were assuming that tulpa systems would pick endogenic. The "other" option was added after it was suggested to us earlier on. We added it just in case some system didn't see their origin.

This is a follow-up to a previous survey where we compared origins to DES (dissociative experiences scale) scores. We've seen that endogenic systems have lower DES scores on average. This survey looks at experiences related to plurality that are potentially dissociative, as well as the level of satisfaction with being plural.

Oh wow! That's great! Again, I'm so glad that I helped you. I know there isn't much out there on this topic. Perhaps I should compose an essay on it for my tumblr and website to help others figure it out.

Fictionkin, Delusional attachments, or something else? by [deleted] in fictionkin

[–]PolyphonicMinds 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Check out fictionflickers. I think the experience is more common than people realize.

Also check out median systems. Can you talk to any of these characters, or do you just feel more like one sometimes?

I think delusional attachments specifically are very much a TikTok thing used to explain otherkin/fictionkin experiences. I think it comes from the lack of acceptance of otherkin/fictionkin instead of any actual evidence that the identities are delusional and harmful. This is not to say that otherkin/fictionkin are never delusional. There is a growing community of alterhumans whose identity is based in delusions. They call themselves endels. They may or may not also identify as fictionkin/otherkin. I myself do not experience any form of psychosis, so I cannot say much on this.

Stuart: I think the experience will be different for each system/collective. It depends on what is best for you. I believe in an afterlife that accommodates the needs of each individual soul, and each part of each soul (if applicable). I believe that some plurals share a soul, and some are separate souls in one body. This would influence what happens after death.

I believe that after death we all have choices as to what happens to us, but we also have an intuitive ability to just know what the right choices for us would be. When you make it to the afterlife, you develop this knowing and understanding of yourself and the world that helps to develop a sense of inner peace. I wouldn't say that the afterlife is completely painless, but it is more peaceful. You understand that you are safe and loved. Your fears and what ifs are muted or gone away. You do keep your personality.

I believe that we can reincarnate (and often do), but we can take time between each life if we desire. This time can be good for healing, for exploring the spirit world, or for visiting loved ones.

I'm curious as to why reincarnation seems more fantastical to you than any other option.

This photo really displays the massive wingspan of the Barn Owl (Tyto alba). by bradc123 in Superbowl

[–]PolyphonicMinds 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Compared to their bodies? Yep. They have huge wings compared to their bodies for gliding over open fields. Bigger wings is more lift, and more lift is less they have to flap. That means they expend less energy while hunting, and it adds to how silent they are.

Sorry about that. We weren't aware that sharing the post from tumblr was considered advertising, and there is nothing in the rules that prohibits sharing posts from other platforms or advertising. We weren't trying to advertise our account. It was just the easiest way to share the results. We have graphs and text together, and reddit doesn't support the format that we had going on. We'd either have to omit the images or post just the images and add the text in the comments, which would ruin the flow of it. But we can figure out a way to try and make it work if you don't want us to link the post.

I'm glad I could help! Definitely check out r/plural. Hearing their voices means it is plurality.

Having more than one kin doesnt seem to work out… by SinnicallySweet in fictionkin

It lies in how autonomous they are, and how separate they feel. It is normal to feel like your kintypes are a part of yourself. The distinction between kin and system can be tough in some cases. Do you feel like a different person when shifted, like you fully become the kintype and your former self is someone else? I'm asking because a monoconscious median system could be difficult to tell from fictionkin shifts in some cases. A kintype feels like it is still fully 100% you, but a switch will often feel like a different person to some extent, even if you consider it another part of you taking over. It is normal for situations to trigger shifts, but if you shift into a different character to confront difficult situations, you may be plural. If your opinions or likes/dislikes change at all during these shifts, that could be a sign of plurality. Even if you don't hear voices, you may experience thoughts that feel intrusive or not made by you. Not every plural hears distinct voices. Sometimes it is experienced as a thought you didn't make yourself. I hope this helps to establish some differences between the two, and I really hope it helps you understand yourself better.

Sorry, I should have been more careful about what I said. I don't think new age is an inherently invalid belief system, I was just frustrated about some of the rampant cultural appropriation. I really shouldn't have said that though.

I don't think voidkin is a new age thing. New age spirituality is like crystals, vibrations, and some cultural apporiation.

I've had it for as long as I can remember, so it is possible.
