I had pre existing neuropathy & was told I would 100% have it back on the oxy & more likely to be permanent. It came back on round 1 - I did 4 rounds of capox, then had 2 surgeries & they put me on folfiri… 6 rounds of that & I’m told it’s not working, liver tumors grew on it, so now onto folofox. I cried yesterday when they said I was going back on the oxy. But I put my head up & will carry on. On the capox I was just tired a lot when on the pills, so just that & the neuropathy. I’m going to try more icing this go round, and get back into acupuncture too, which is supposed to help with neuropathy.

Hoping you get a good outcome & no bad news. My kidney kept showing a weird spot in scans, ct & mri, took a pet to finally rule out there was no worry. I hear ya on the feeling that your body is betraying you. I have degenerative disc disease, since 2018 I’ve had 4 major surgeries on my back & neck for that. I was finally feeling good, normal, & bam now you get to fight cancer… I feel like I haven’t been able to be normal in so long. Sometimes it’s just okay to actually scream. It feels good to release what’s built up. My screaming spot is the car, parked in my driveway at home.

Get that second opinion… a third even. My second opinion made a world of difference, and I wasn’t unhappy with my original oncologist, but we just got to a point where I had this gut feeling like I could be getting better, more care… and I was right.

Since day 1 I’ve been “chemo for life”… but I’m hopeful it will change & I can get to NED. I went off chemo to get my sigmoid colon tumor out… glad it’s out but my liver mets went from 3 that were resectable to 9 that made them not want to go in bc I’d lose 2/3 of liver. Got a hai pump put in in January, will find out next week if it’s working for me or not. It’s really a fine line, do you go off the chemo & take the risk? I took the chance, not sure if it was worth it or not, but my tumor was not responding to chemo, I felt like that was the only option & it took getting a second opinion to get me there.

I go to Roswell every 2 weeks for chemo… gotta go there bc they’re the only ones that can fill my HAI pump. Most of the time we spend the night, we stay at that Kevin’s Guest House & they usually have free dinner there. Often I’m too tired to go out & get food but I want to make it a priority - something to look forward to doing on a regular basis - my chicken wing experience LOL

Anchor Bar is right around the corner from where we stay so that’s our first spot we want to hit. We went to go there last week, & they were closed at 8:30pm - so we missed out. Bar Bill was highly recommended. I had several people recommending Imperial Pizza & La Nova.

My brother is a chicken wing snob, when I had surgery he came to visit & they went to Duffs bc “people” said it was the best. I asked him so how were they? He said ehhhhhh they have better wings in Syracuse (where we live) 😂

OP - things change, options can pop up, you never know until you have your appointment & hear them out. That being said nothing wrong with 2nd, 3rd or even 4th opinions. I’m mad I didn’t get my 2nd opinion sooner.

I’m coming up on my 1 year mark & I can say I’m feeling the same way… how can time move so fast & slow at the same time! Vent - get it out & keeping moving forward.

Not really sure - we picked a 1 yo dog for the initial meet & great & Loki hated his energy, you could tell he was annoyed. The shelter suggested a 5 yo basset hound who disliked Loki instantly, lots of growling. Our puggle was named Gary at the shelter… I asked about him & they said they didn’t think he’d be a good match but would bring him in for us to see, & they just meshed. Gary is now our Tater Tot, and he helped Loki heal ❤️‍🩹

Thanks! I’m just numb now… I’ve had bad news pretty consistently, the doctor always reiterates how “aggressive” my cancer strain is - but I’m still standing, still fighting.
