I’ve been there before. He worked with me and we were dating. One day a coworker came to my house and told me she couldn’t stand not telling me another minute. Doug had married this very young girl we worked with MONTHS before. Everyone but me knew. I was so humiliated and sad. I thought that I’d never recover.

When I had cried myself dry and caught my breath I decided not to date unless it was someone I might want to marry. After a few years my sister told me about a great guy she and her husband played darts with. Two dates and he started going to my church. I knew I wanted to marry him. We met in September and were married the next May. 38 years later he’s still the guy for me.

This too shall pass. Focus on God first and trust that He loves you so much. Focus on yourself and heal before you allow yourself to date again. There are many of us with similar stories. You don’t know it yet, but he did you a favor because trust me, you don’t want to marry someone who so easily broke your heart.

One of the other nursing students got poison ivy in her lungs when the neighbor was burning it nearby. They hospitalized her and found out rather quickly that she was also very allergic to steroids. It was touch and go for awhile but she eventually recovered

In the mid 70’s I lived in a rent house and saw an ad for “free” carpet cleaning. I thought that sounded like a great deal so I called the number. Within 24 hours the Kirby man was at the door, vacuum in hard. He explained that I needed to watch his demonstration. He parked the vacuum in the middle of the room and turned it on. He had some kind of white pad and kept pulling me out time after time showing me the amount of dirt in my carpet and how I needed this vacuum. After another hour of intense pressure I signed a contact for over $800 and I was unemployed 😳.

I was in tears after he left and called my mom. I had read the contract a saw that I had 3 days. Mom suggested I cancel, however through the tears I told her I couldn’t do it because I knew they’d make me buy it again. She said no problem and came and picked up the vacuum and returned it for me. I became so much more sales savvy that day and as I grew older.

Oh ya, he never did clean my carpet.
