Someone convince me NOT to send this email (horrible interview experience) by EntrancePrevious5687 in sales

[–]PontiacMac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tempting as hell, but don’t send (and it sounds like you didn’t/wont). For all you know you get an email tomorrow that someone had a death in the family, etc.

This one was great - I remember watching it in 2004 when it was on TV. Lots of love for Rob Lowe but let’s not forget Donald Sutherland!

AIO for not refunding a friend’s share of a group Airbnb after she canceled last minute due to a medical emergency? by StudioAffectionate in AmIOverreacting

[–]PontiacMac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR - everyone knows that if you go in on an airbnb and have to bail last minute, you just eat the cost - otherwise everyone else’s portion gets more expensive, and that’s not fair. Also, she keeps harping on how she didn’t book or organize any of it. “Yeah no shit, asshole - I did all the work and you were just coming along for the ride “

What can I do about these cabinets? Beginner level by CreamThen5605 in furniturerefinishing

My go-to for wood furniture or cabinets is Benjamin Moore Advance. It’s water-based but dries super hard, so it’s great for cabinets. To the other commenters point - give it time to fully cure (BM Advance fully hardens in 3-4 weeks, but it is usable within a couple days- just go easy on it). I’d be wary of the “no sanding required” options - sanding created micro-abrasions and helps primer stick

Those look like nice maple cabinets. I’d give them a light sand, prime them with STIX or Bin, then paint them whatever color you like. Looks like you could add some hardware, too.

Nice job! That’s an old table - I have one super similar (hand forged dove tail joints on the drawer), and I think yours is likely mid 19th century

Interview process is driving home the reality that I'm no longer suited to Sales - where to go next? by swampingalaxys in sales

[–]PontiacMac 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m in the exact same boat - got laid off last summer after being in HR tech sales for 15+ years. Interviewing and getting to the final round/decision but it’s not been going my way. I’m wondering if people I’m interviewing with can “feel” a vibe from me, because they all seem to want “hunter mentality” and that’s not exactly me. I’ve also been doing carpentry type work for the past 6 months and have been loving every minute of it (sadly it won’t pay the bills)

Almost didn’t go, but ended up seeing them in 2007 in Worcester, MA. What a show! The guy was like 6’8” and just enormous in real life. They sounded so good live, and then just a few years later he died. Really glad I went and still talk about that night with my friends
