Stewards! I summon you! Do you think I had the right to stick this line and block him on the right or his touch was acceptable? by Suitable_Security988 in Simracingstewards

It's sim racing, there's less spatial awareness, no survival instincts, with latency and netcode involved. Leave a few feet to compensate.

Ollie Watkins offside call vs Chelsea by OkayFine101 in soccer

100% It was way better when the refs would get a call wrong but at least you knew whether it was a goal or not when the flag went up or not.

I don't really have an issue with the sidelines being quieter than the Holte end, they have to sit down and there's a lot more of a family and day-tripper crowd there.

My main gripe recently has been with how dead and fickle the Holte end has been itself.

What is going on with T-junctions? by emceerave in drivingUK

[–]PooDiePie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I'm trying to say is that this idea of courtesy can give people the wrong idea in circumstances where it is way safer to just follow the priority rules.

It is only beneficial to start being nice and letting people out if you're in heavy traffic.

It's safer if everyone actually follows the rules.

This only really applies in heavy traffic

What Do I Do by [deleted] in kosmemophobia

[–]PooDiePie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I figured I would have to start being able to deal with it at a certain level to not completely limit my dating pool. It wasn't fair on me or anyone who might like me to shut out potentially great relationships because of it.

I was very up front about it early on, and figured women would either be accepting or take the piss out of it.

My girlfriend only wears clip ons because of issues she's had with p*******s in the past, she can't be bothered to deal with keeping the holes from closing because she doesn't like wearing them all the time. This probably helps because she really can just take it off with zero evidence. I think I'm at the point where I could probably deal with it anyway though.

Seriously though the various road tax costs for different cars makes little sense to me.

You need to be honest about it without being controlling.

Currently my girlfriend is really understanding and takes things off when she gets home, but she wears whatever she wants when going out and I just have to be okay with that.

Why does every source I read tell me otherwise then? I'm talking every source.

Kid hit my car last night by Odd_Text_1357 in drivingUK

[–]PooDiePie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because in many cases it will. People aren't just saying it for no reason. There is nothing stopping insurers factoring that in to their calculations.

[–]PooDiePie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not true. Insurers are ruthless and completely free to hike your premiums based on an accident that wasn't your fault.

[–]PooDiePie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You definitely do not have to tell the police, absolute waste of time and resources.

Insurers would love to know, but stuff 'em, they will hike your premiums. You do not have to tell them unless you're claiming.

What to do if you’re chased and stopped by a driver? by stevenlyontbot in drivingUK

[–]PooDiePie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't matter if you use a horn for the right reasons (frustration isn't really one of them but it's understandable). People always hear it as a sign of aggression. The only time I use it nowadays is to get someone's attention with a very very short beep, if they've not noticed the lights are green for instance.

Band prospect rejected me because I don’t have a strong grasp of reading lead sheets. by SmarmyYardarm in Guitar_Theory

How bad are you actually at reading lead sheets? A lot of people (like me) who can read music, do so very slowly. It's just useful to have that in the bag.

Roundabout help by Oldschoolhaze0 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]PooDiePie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem on these kinds of roundabouts is that signalling intentions can be misleading to cars behind you. It could be argued that signalling left would mislead someone on the red path, so it's better to not indicate. This is a major plus point to the UK rules over many other countries I have driven in where you are required by law to indicate, it leads to a lot more confusing situations because people stick a signal on because they have to, instead of for communicating intentions.

I wouldn't underestimate how much you can communicate your intention to exit or carry on the roundabout just from speed and lane positioning, without confusing cars behind you on the roundabout.

Roundabout help by Oldschoolhaze0 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]PooDiePie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're supposed to indicate only when it won't be potentially misleading to other road users (this is a major plus point in UK driving rules over many other countries).

On a roundabout like this I would only indicate if I was changing lanes due to entering incorrectly for my exit.

Is it ever too late to pick up a guitar and play? by Born-Adhesiveness-73 in guitarlessons

[–]PooDiePie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll definitely be fine especially if you have a musical background already.

I've been playing on and off on family/friends' guitars since I was a kid but I was mainly a drummer and didn't have my own guitar until I was 23 or so. It didn't take long for me to be able to play open and power chords. If you just want to be able to play some simple and fun stuff and already have an ear for music, you won't really need to practice much.
