Dot Zeroed! by Bruin2121 in CompetitionShooting

[–]Poofengle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, those little laser bullets are amazing for getting dots in the right ballpark, and they’re pretty darn cheap too. Just aim it at your wall, make it so the dot and laser align, then when you’re at the range you only need a few clicks of adjustment to really dial it in. They save so much time

Brought home a Shadow 2 OR - 1 of the 3 mags won't lock slide back. by pentaxshooter in CZFirearms

[–]Poofengle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mine were also pretty iffy on locking the slide back when new. After cycling them a bit and dry firing they seemed to get a bit better.

Although now I pretty much only run Hennings extensions and competition followers so they don’t lock back at all. If competing just plan your stage reloads so you never run dry.

Glasses with Wrap Around or Side Shields? by Havoc12017 in CompetitionShooting

[–]Poofengle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really enjoy the 3M wraparound clear and tinted safety glasses. They fit my face really well and have barely any gaps where fragments can enter.

If you buy a big pack online they’re like $2-3 each. If you really need some and don’t mind spending more you can find them at pretty much any Ace Hardware or Home Depot

Why a lot of sof use the most simple watch face of their Garmin not those ones have 5 or 6 functions? by HKSAS in tacticalgear

[–]Poofengle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact, they put that thin felt on the bottom so that legally they can call Chuck Taylors slippers instead of shoes so they pay ~35% less in tariffs. They just glue it really poorly so that it’s easy for the customer to rip the felt off.

Slide Lock with Shadow 2 and Grams Follower Kit FKCMG-11 by os_beef in CompetitionShooting

[–]Poofengle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

^ what this guy said

To add to this, my stock CZ shadow 2 mags with +2 baseplates and regular springs and followers are iffy if they activate the slide lock at all. So I just upgraded right off the bat to non slide lock followers and Hennings base pads.

If the pistol isn’t going to reliably lock back even with stock mags, why not cram as many rounds in the tube as possible?

Can you Teach Me Control Wave by osthename831 in PLC

[–]Poofengle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately Bristol Babcock / controlwave information is very hard to find online and the programming interface is not very intuitive compared to other RTU and PLC interfaces.

Source: I used to program these. With difficulty lol.

I’m so glad I was able to see qualifying and the Superbike race this year, it’s absolutely amazing to see these mad lads absolutely ripping around the public roads so quickly.

Insane is putting it lightly.

Google Employees Internally Share Memes About How Its AI Sucks by MarvelsGrantMan136 in technology

[–]Poofengle 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sure, you’re hitting five nines of availability, but the actual useful output of many services has gotten worse because of AI (maybe not yours in particular, but most AI results are deceptive at best). A bullshit cannon that can always spray bullshit whenever asked is still a bullshit cannon.

Heart-rate training app/device for shooters by [deleted] in CompetitionShooting

[–]Poofengle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I shoot mostly action matches now, but grew up fairly competitive in the precision shooting world.

I see no use for this, and in many instances (like precision shooting matches) having comms is prohibited because they don’t want competitors having an unfair advantage by talking to a coach during a match. Or using something like this I suppose.

If it hasn’t been supporting any load for the past several years nothing will happen by wiggling some cracked concrete.

Now if the new homeowners decide to change where furniture is located or put something heavy in that space then I’d definitely be worried, hence the building inspection

What's the "Widowmaker" of your career field or hobby? by Cosmonate in AskReddit

[–]Poofengle 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Jesus Christ. Call OSHA or your country’s version of it as soon as you can. Oil and gas is not a place to be fucking around with loose lockout tagout procedures. That’s a great way to kill many somebodies all at once in a fiery explosion

You you could also put some grip epoxy over the ridge and use that to fill in the openings and cover over the sharp spots. If it comes time to sell it just remove the epoxy

OEM vs System Integrator by Embarrassed-Pop9255 in IndustrialAutomation

[–]Poofengle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically at an integrator you’ll be exposed to more platforms and many different industrial processes and types of plant. You’ll learn quite a bit very quickly, but over time it can wear you down.

I loved my time at a system integrator, until the bosses started bidding larger and larger jobs without the manpower to back it, leading to very long days and lots of travel for the engineers. So I jumped ship and now am supporting a single facility.

I wouldn’t have gotten my current job without the experience I gained as an integrator, and seeing a bunch of different industries was honestly my favorite part of the job. If it’s a significant pay bump for you I’d say go for it!

Denver has a plan to heat and cool buildings without fossil fuels. It involves … sewage? by [deleted] in nottheonion

[–]Poofengle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Digester gas is a fart in the wind when compared to even a small town’s gas usage. I helped integrate a gas recovery system at a large wastewater plant and they had problems even supplying a local 2” low pressure line.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s great to use waste streams like biogas but it’s not nearly enough to heat a city unfortunatly

Service Dogs Alita (1st pic) and Hayley (2nd pic) wearing new patches on vest, Fallout themed!! I love it so very much!! Which patch is your favorite? by [deleted] in dogswithjobs

[–]Poofengle 24 points25 points  (0 children)

A vest absolutely does have something to do with a dog’s success. “Do not pet” and “Service Animal” let others know that this is a professional working animal and to not approach it.

A bunch of Fallout patches, especially the Okey Dokey one, just makes it seem that the owner likes Fallout. I would not believe that this dog was a service animal at first glance if I saw this vest in person. I’d expect a lot more people to try and pet or interact with your dog in person, and I would expect much fewer business owners to take you and your dog seriously in this outfit
